Larry Pardey talks about the importance of practicing heaving to before you set off across an ocean. Heaving to allows you to park your boat at sea in any weather so you and your crew can rest, eat, and make repairs. Practicing heaving to includes becoming familiar with setting up your para-anchor and other gear at the dock so you know how it all works and you can check that all lines are running clear. Then you should practice heaving to underway, preferably in at least 30 knots of wind. Larry's comments are followed by some historic footage of the Pardey's sailing with a very nice classical 12 string guitar background.

In Deutschland wäre jeder dieser Flecken Erde eine Sehenswürdigkeit und entsprechend frequentiert; hier herrscht ein Überfluss an Schönheit und Raum. Erst unter Segeln, wenn ich also lautlos und nur vom Wind getrieben durch diese Inselwelt gleite, erschliesst sich mir diese Kombination aus Einsamkeit und Weite und ich fühle mich wie ein Teil des Ganzen. Manchmal vergehen dabei Stunden ohne das ich es überhaupt wahrnehme. Ein für mich einzigartiges Erlebnis, an das ich mein Leben lang denken werde.

My second sail on the 10ft two sheet plywood Duo. It has been painted and I have dispensed with the inflatable collar. I'm still keeping the "training wheels" under the wings for now. Although if you look carefully at foiling Moths you will see that they also have buoyancy built into the ends of their wings. I have now cut the Duo in half, see the earlier video, so it will be some time before I sail the Duo again. Ålands sjöräddningssällskap hjälper en medlem att bärga en totalsjunken båt där bottenpluggen hade ärgat sönder och en natt helt sonika fallit bort och sänkt båten. Ett riktigt bra tillfälle att vara medlem och ett sätt där vi kan ge ett stort mervärde. Vi hoppas att snurran går att återställa och att sommaren kan fortsätta i en mer positiv anda för ägaren.

Annapolis Yacht Club, June 25th: Once again it was all about dodging the stormy weather and it turned out to be another perfect night on the Bay.
############ www.luvgier.de ############## Von Nyköping aus bin ich über Hamburg zu einem Auftritt mit der Band "Kati und die Schulmänner" bei einer Oldtimer Rally in Bad Aibling geflogen. Der Auftritt stand schon vor meiner Reise fest und ich habe mich drauf gefreut, obwohl es mich natürlich aus meiner Urlaubsroutine gerissen hat. Er bezahlt aber auch die Reise durch den Götakanal!! Mit Grillparty bei Freunden und Geburtstagsfeier meiner Frau habe ich in 4 Tagen gefühlt 100 Menschen getroffen, was nach der langen Einsamkeit erstmal verarbeitet werden musste; wobei mir die Rückkehr dann schwerer fiel, als die Hinreise. In diesem Video nehme ich euch mit auf die Reise und auf die Bühne!!
