Mais que le final fut éprouvant ! L’équipage de Solidaires En Peloton – ARSEP a finalement coupé la ligne d’arrivée devant Saint-Malo à 19 heures 32 minutes et 28 secondes en 4ème position après avoir dû subir des calmes plats dans les cinquante derniers milles avant l’arrivée. « On était en situation de contrôle durant toute la nuit précédant l’arrivée, témoigne Victorien Erussard. Mais dans la pétole, quand le bateau est arrêté, cela devient un jeu impossible. Il a fallu jouer avec les risées, compter aussi sur la chance. For Peter Burling and Blair Tuke (NZL), the Medal Race was a victory lap, the Kiwis having won the 49er Men's gold medal with two races to spare after dominating the 20-boat fleet at Rio 2016 over the past week. The unstoppable Kiwis dominated today's Medal Race just as they have dominated the 49er fleet for the past four years, the four-time World Champions undefeated since taking the Olympic silver medal in London 2012. Erik Heil and Thomas Ploessel (GER) began the day in silver medal position, but started the race very badly after a near capsize just 20 seconds before the start. This put the Germans on the back foot and opened the door for Nathan Outteridge and Iain Jensen (AUS) to seize the advantage. The 2012 Olympic Champions did enough to stay ahead of their rivals and won silver for Australia, Germany taking bronze.

Sime Fantela and Igor Marenic (CRO) have won Croatia's first ever gold medal in Olympic sailing. The Croatians sailed a controlled race, making sure they stayed ahead of their rivals Australia and Greece. However Mat Belcher and Will Ryan (AUS) were much concerned about protecting the silver medal and engaged Panagiotis Mantis and Pavlos Kagialis (GRE) in a match race before the start. With the race underway, the Swiss team streaked off into the lead, but the three medal contenders were much more interested in covering each other's moves at the back of the fleet. With the Aussies and Greeks caught up in their own duel, Croatia's job of defending gold became straightforward. Meanwhile, Belcher mostly had the best of Mantis until the top of the final windward leg when Ryan lost his footing and briefly fell overboard. The Greeks seized the moment and moved into the lead, but the Australians attacked again on the final run to the finish. They pressured the Greek boat into making a small mistake on a gybe, and the 2012 Olympic Champion steered the Aussie boat for the finish, crossing the line just six seconds before their rivals to secure silver for Australia. Despite missing out to the Australians, the Greek crew was still very happy with bronze after a tough series at Rio 2016. Fantela and Marenic's victory crowns a stunning week for Croatia, the 470 Men's gold going alongside Tonci Stipanovic's Laser Men's silver just two days ago. Croatia had never won an Olympic medal in sailing, now it has two.

Here a quick 5-min impression of our fantastic time including exploratory dives, brilliant reefs under active volcanoes, local hand-lining for large yellow-fin tuna and close-ups of our speciality - oceanic cetaceans - with sightings of Fraser's dolphins, Risso's dolphins, spinner and spotted dolphins, bottlenosed dolphins, melonheaded whales, pilot whales, a blue whale (!) and of course...lots of sperm whales. Special appearance by our youngest crew member... Noah, who's almost 2 years old with plenty sea-time. He already decided he will not go to back to 'school' anymore, become a speedboat driver, enjoy the catch-of-the-day and explore the oceans! This movie discusses "Shifting Baselines" with Diving Hall Of Fame Guests on the Seven Seas, during a cruise in Komodo where they all joined to talk about this subject. A young diver sees the reefs for the first time and is blown away by them. The Golden Oldies in the dive group reflect on how the young diver does not realize how much better it all once was, and how the natural World has degraded without us REALLY noticing since it happens over time spans that are at least as long as a full diving career. Launched around mid-September 2015, Lucy Z is the hull number 4 of the sleek Sunreef 74 line. Lucy Z combines all the advantages one can draw from owning a large, freshly-built catamaran with the spirit of a classy traditional yacht. She lets you enjoy massive living space, stability, shallow draft and is rigged with cutting edge gear, yet once you step aboard you may feel as if you have embarked on a cruise back in time. The reason for this is the tremendous amount of effort put into the boat’s aesthetics. Lucy Z’s unique design is the fruit of a close collaboration between Sunreef’s in-house design office lead by its Director – Joanna Szulc and Dana Avriel – designer and architect appointed by the Client for the project. Knowing the Owner’s passion for culture and history for having worked with him before, Dana’s role was to come up with ideas for an authentic marine aspect both to the boat’s exterior and interior. Lucy Z stands out with her dark grey hulls, keeping the boat’s exterior feel in sync with nature and giving the hulls a gentle tone reminiscent of seaweed and the oceans’ depths. The same principle applies to the boat’s superstructure. The light grey found there is coincident with the greys of the skies so as to keep the yacht in visual unity with the elements. Lucy Z’s interiors - entirely clad in elegant dark wood, will usher you into a majestic back-in-time travel. The cabins and saloon feature a finishing inspired from classic yacht designs with navy-marine upholstery and bed linings combined with brass décor elements. The light and airy saloon with its panoramic windows features an upright acoustic Yamaha piano installed in the front part of the room. Lucy Z is ready to host a large number of guests with her spacious 12-seat table, a set of 2 poufs and widespread sofa. The fully equipped galley at portside can be accessed both from the main cabin and cockpit. Lucy Z has a comfortable cabin distribution perfect for lengthy cruises among friends and family. The starboard hull features a large Owner’s cabin with a double bed, a reading corner, large dressing and make-up desk. The yacht is also fitted with two large VIP cabins, both comprising double beds, desks and wardrobes. The portside crew cabin will sleep three crew members on two single beds and an additional Pullman. Additional accommodation for crew is also available in the forepeaks. The sundeck is equipped with a large dining table with adjustable height to enjoy meals in the shade and sit back with a drink in hand. The cockpit features a dining teak table, a fridge, ice maker and a sink. Near the saloon entrance, a small coffee table is placed to enjoy your time outside on the L-shaped cockpit sofa.

This week we have visited Allen's Cay and few cays around. This place has an amazing view. No one is living on those cays, only rocks, trees and animals are there. These are those types of places we are looking for during our sailing adventure. Of course we could find remote places everywhere, but those cays in the north Exuma were breathtaking. During this episode we also caught some spots exactly as birds see them :) We got some interesting time feeding iguanas, they are super friendly because over years they got used to people. Finally we got fishy smell on a boat during our stay at Allen's cay. We were super excited to have fish and lobsters for a dinner. We also were able to have a fresh bread on our boat being in a place with no stores around... Let's get together by Norman's cay next week.
