We're stuck on the very southern tip of Sardinia due to force 7+ Beaufort scale winds at a town called Villasimius near Capo Carbonara. We haven't been on land for three days so a walk around in the sand and rocks felt great. We got acquainted with our neighbors who happened to be American and they help us eat some of our tuna. After three days we made our way up the eastern coast of the island under spinnaker for the first time. Team Ireland Vendée Globe Challenge is a sailing team that will see the first ever Irish sportsperson compete in sailing's most difficult race, the Vendée Globe. A strong team of professionals, volunteers, and partners is working to ensure the Team's skipper, Enda O'Coineen, has the best chance possible of completing this non stop, unassisted, extreme sailing race around the globe. The Vendée Globe is a sailing race around the world and nonstop singlehanded. Skipper sails around the world from west to east via the three major capes of Good Hope, Leeuwin and the Horn. There is a long slide down the Atlantic, the perilous voyage across the Southern Ocean with firstly the Indian Ocean and its crossed seas, then the Pacific Ocean, the world’s biggest ocean. The Lazy Cradle Boom Cover from http://www.precisionsailloft.com is manufactured from solution dyed Weathermax brand fabric with polyester or nylon webbing so that, while it keeps your sail clean and protected, it is itself appealing and compliments your boat. This fabric is used specifically because it can offer protection against physical abrasion as well as the elements, especially UV damage. As well, its ability to breath prevents any threat of mildew.
