20th October 2019. The Great Adventures Green Island Swim is a community event and is supported by Surf Life Saving North Queensland and the Cairns Crocs. This unique Great Barrier Reef competition takes place on the leeward side of the island with each leg of the event offering a variety of conditions from shallows to wind chop and tidal flow. Water temperatures around this time of year average 24 degrees with air temperatures around 28 degrees.

Season 5 Episode 92 - Sailing from Port Townsend to Neah Bay On this weeks episode we set off with high hopes of getting some sea miles behind us. The Auto pilot returned to its previous behavior and before long it was joined by an engine alarm as we began to beat into building seas near to Cape Flattery. Oh yes and then there was the fun task of hand scooping out the bilge which was full of a mixture of diesel fuel and water making all of the sleeping quarters almost unbearable to be in due to the fumes.... The captain made the right call for us to turn back and head for the last safe port before the Cape: Neah Bay, Washington. It was designed and built to withstand the stress of sailing multiple times around the world safely and in comfort. It's also a speed demon, which is important when you want to cover large distances of water before the weather changes. Lastly, it's backed by the manufacturer with outstanding customer service and aftermarket support, so we believe she will hold her value well. And, she's nice on the eyes too. OUR ROUTE has taken us from the Boston/Cape Cod area of the United States down to the Caribbean and then on to the Panama Canal. At the time of posting this we are dealing with a repair in the South Pacific, and in 2020 we hope to be in New Zealand and Southeast Asia. By 2021 we will be in the Med and close to completing our circumnavigation. O guincho me deu um baile nesta semana. Fui informado para trocar o óleo, como se fosse um óleo de rabeta, tem dois "tambores", mas são parafusos direcionadores das engrenagens internas do guincho, portanto nada de óleo. Criei coragem e desmontei todo, lavei com gasolina todas as peças e apliquei bastante graxa azul. Ficou excelente! Fiz também a colocação da porta do WC da suíte e transferia cozinha para o casco de bombordo!

Ho aperto la finestra ed era il vento a scriverne le parole. Era una melodia incalzante di tamburi e cornamusa. Un tempo anch’io scrivevo parole tra le righe della mia anima. Le affidavo al canto dell’usignolo, al ritmo continuo dell’acqua sulla roccia e all’eco per farle giungere fino a te. Era l’età in cui giocavamo ad inventarci il giorno ed indossarlo finché la notte non sopraggiungeva. Potevamo ammirare lo spettacolo del sole, ora dopo ora, accompagnato da uccelli e da nuvole disegnate. I tuoi occhi erano del colore della sabbia e del mare, più mi guardavi e più entravi dentro i miei, colorati dalla pace della notte. Quando non avevamo più niente da dirci, ci hanno sempre pensato loro. Erano quelli i momenti in cui le parole non avevano più importanza. Mi è sempre piaciuto scrivere con l’inchiostro nero della notte quando si avvicina. Ogni parola è stata versata ma senza ottenere altro risultato che la certezza di essere andato alla deriva, tra promesse sussurrate e la luce cangiante del mattino che entra senza bussare. Anche se la mia mano ora è stanca di scrivere, il mio cuore è giovane e la mia mente lo seguirà in eterno, come sempre ha fatto. Questo potrebbe essere il tramonto più bello che abbia mai visto, un miracolo che col fuoco delle parole marchia la mia sconfinata immaginazione.
