Final sail with Romain before he fly back to France for xmas. After a few days of rest I switch my 26ft nutshell for a 70ft catamaran that I deliver to Antigua to start with before doing a one week charter with it. Work work work... On the 17th of April 2020 we will leave marina Port Ghalib in Egypt, heading south towards Sudan and Djibouti and finally Maldives. We will take it easy, enjoy the beautiful reefs of the red sea and keep an eye on the corona regulations of the ports we pass. Since many countries are closed we don't know where we will be allowed to go on land again, but we can survive 4 month without seeing anybody :) This journey is only a small part of our trip that started 2 years ago. From our all-time favorite wilderness anchorage at Lake Superior’s famed Isle Royale, we made a quick daytrip to Rock Harbor, before eventually heading Freelance back to the popular NPS pier at Windigo. I decided to unearth some archived footage of a ride I did back in August of 2017. We had quite the adventure on this trail...

The Didi 29 Retro design was developed from the modern Didi 26 design. This presentation was prepared for IBEX before the first boat was built. It has been updated with slides at the end to show two additional rigs that were drawn after that original presentation, as well as photos of the first boat to be launched. The boat in the photos has the smaller of the two gaff rigs and sails very well. With full main and asymmetrical spinnaker we were able to reach at more than twice the wind speed on flat water. We finally got our transit log and was able to leave Poros. But there was little or no wind and the small breeze was not going our way so we could not sail. We didn't go very far but found a cozy place to anchor up and enjoy the water. Unfortunately, we lost our paddleboard this night and we were all sad over this. The next day we motored on and managed to run aground just before Epidavros, the cozy little town we could never remember the name of. It was clear to us the tourist season was over as the town was sleepy and pretty much closed down.
