Note: This video was filmed before the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2019, we announced that Michelin-starred chef Thomas Bühner had joined the LSG Group's culinary network. That same year, the LSG Group's chefs went to Osnabrück to cook with him in preparation for the World Travel Catering & Onboard Services Expo (WTCE). Then in 2020, a global pandemic hit. A lot has changed, but what remains is our focus on culinary and quality. The LSG Group is the world’s leading provider of end-to-end onboard products and services for the travel industry. Its expert brands are: LSG Sky Chefs (airline catering and hospitality, lounges), Retail inMotion (onboard retail), SPIRIANT (onboard equipment) and Evertaste (convenience food).
If you’re a sucker for waterfalls, then you should definitely explore this impressive National Park when visiting Dalmatia. Krka National Park is just a short drive from both Split and Šibenik, and is an excellent alternative to Plitvice Lakes National Park – although; if you have the time, make sure to visit both! Krka National Park encompasses about two-thirds of the total course of Krka River and is made up of porous rocks that made it easy for the river to carve numerous caverns and lakes which attracts tens of thousands of visitors a year. What will be sure to leave you breathless are the gorgeous waterfalls, Roški Slap and Skradinski Buk. Explore this picturesque National Park with us as we take you through the hidden gems and local secrets. If you're planning a visit to Krka National Park, make sure to check out our Krka Natonal Park Guide below: https://www.sail-croatia.com/set-sail/the-ultimate-guide-to-krka-national-park
Overlooking the Old Town of Split you’ll find a massive green park that is just waiting to be explored. Affectionately known as the city’s ‘Green Lungs’ by locals, this park is dotted with fragrant pine trees, noisy cicadas, and stunning views over both the Old Town and the Sea. Perfect for walking, jogging, or swimming, this park is also home to the Mestrovic Gallery and a small local zoo. Sail Croatia employee, Lucija, takes us on a tour of this stunning green oasis, pointing out the must-do attractions. If you're planning a trip to Split, check out our comprehensive Destination Guide below: https://www.sail-croatia.com/set-sail/destination/split

The next video in our #WeAreCruise video series features a Christchurch tour operator amongst the Australasian businesses voicing their support for a carefully planned revival of cruise operations carrying locals on local cruises. Mark Gilbert, owner of Hassle-Free Tours, was forced to let go nearly 60 staff members due to the suspensions. The company is the latest to be featured in CLIA’s #WeAreCruise video series, which highlights the economic impact suffered by local businesses and the 25,000 jobs that are at risk across Australasia while the cruise industry remains at anchor. In the video Mark talks of his experience of losing nearly all of his customers due to COVID. #WeAreCruise
We Gotta Regatta - We were headed out to see a funeral on the water, when to our surprise and delight, we ran headlong into the Alice Cup Regatta by the Charleston Ocean Racing Association. This is the first regatta I have seen live and I think I’ve caught the fever! What a beautiful sight to see all of these colorful sails on the river. The race had 2 legs - Charleston to Rockville - 32.35 NM, with an awards party at Bohicket Marina that night and back again the next day 31.7n NM. More info here if you are interested for next year. https://www.charlestonoceanracing.com/images/Documents_2020/Alice_Cup_SIs_2020_FINAL_AG.pdf Burial at Sea - We attended a Funeral on the Water on Saturday, October 17, to pay our respects to Offshore Sport Fishing Captain Matthew Inman Key, a long time friend of Stephen’s, who fished tournaments together back in the mid 1980’s. We joined the boat procession, watched the cremated remains distributed on the river and were able to video a good portion of it for the family. Matt was only 51. Obituary here - https://www.legacy.com/obituaries/charleston/obituary.aspx?n=matthew-inman-key&pid=196854821 Alligator sharing our Fishing Hole. Stephen loves to fish on Privateer Creek right behind Horse Island, and St. Christoper’s Camp and Conference Center. There is also an alligator that shares this spot - even though it’s salt water, he must think the fishing is worth it. We scored a redfish, which became lunch. We kept our distance and he kept his. Fishing for dinner on Seabrook Island Beach, but all Stephen caught was a small Bonnet Head shark. It’s a little un-nerving to know that sharks swim that close to the beach, but in all the years swimming there, we’ve never been bitten. Full Moon Tide on N. Edisto River - Usually the tide averages 6 ft but during the full moon of October, it turned into a 7.7 ft tide. That’s almost 2 ft more water. Imagine what that means in terms of actual volume AND what that extra volume means for the current speed. We love to sail during full moons, but this adds an extra little adventure into the trip. Fig Island, listed as a National Historic Landmark on the US National Register of Historic Places is an archaeological site consisting of three shell rings. Shell rings are human created curved shell middens wholly or partially surrounding a clear central area. This site includes one of the largest and most complex shell rings in North America, dated between 4400 years ago and 3600 years ago, and is one of the best preserved circular shell rings. It consists of both shells and fish bones. While not evident to our untrained eye, this place just felt important. Aside from the shotgun shells, mosquitos and gnats, it was a worthwhile exploration. It is located off Ocello Creek on the Edisto Island side of N. Edisto River. If you go, be sure to check out the Oyster farming floats and cages. More here. https://www.chicora.org/sedentism.html Anchoring Challenges - Ever have your Anchor end up on the wrong side of the bridle ? Well, we did. Now usually Stephen is at the helm and I am doing the anchor pulling, but we decided this trip to reverse roles so that we could get equally good at both. So, this happened on Stephen’s anchor pulling watch:-). We could NOT get the anchor up at all, because the chain was rubbing on the bridle lines. Things were a little tense to say the least, as we thought we were dragging anchor as well and did not want to end up in the marsh. The only fix was for me to hold the boat steady while Stephen got the dinghy down, got under the anchor, and then worked it back around where it was supposed to be. This is so hard to even explain. So, Once at the dock, we tried to re-enact how in the world this could have happened. Watch this video and please if you have had a similar situation occur, let us know. PILAR got a full polish and wax recently. We had the hull done in June, and finally found someone to do the rest of the boat at Bohicket. Looks like a new boat! Vlog# 24 This time we sail 3 days straight down the Baja coast of Mexico from Magdalena Bay to Cabo San Lucas. Along the way we caught some tuna but let a few skip jacks go trying to get the specific kind we wanted. We got some sourdough starter from a sailor in Magdalena Bay that has been around since the 1800s, he also circumnavigated with it on his boat and he gave us some to carry on the tradition. The first thing we made was sourdough pretzels and they were amazing!!! After 3 days we finally make it into Cabo San Lucas just as the sun was rising. The water was insanely clear and beautiful so we obviously had to jump in and snorkel around. We dove down the check out the anchor and see all the beautiful fish swimming around. Then we took the dinghy through the bay to check out the famous Playa del Amor (Lover's Beach) and El Arco, a natural archway in the sea cliffs. We also went into town for supplies and to check out the town. It was so busy and crazy, something we were definitely not used to at all after being by ourselves on the boat for so long in the middle of nowhere!! See you in the next video!! -------------------------------- Instagram- @Sailingdecorum ------------------------------- --------------------------------- *WHO ARE WE?* •We are a Canadian couple, Travis and Jessica. We are cruising around on our 32ft 1981 C&C sailboat. We started our journey in Vancouver, Canada, not really knowing how to sail. Arriving to the city a few days early, it is the perfect excuse to go and explore this historical city. After looking at the same scenery for months on end, the bustling modern city of Penang was a welcome change. Penang is an old Colonial town with a very old section called Georgetown. This century old area became run down and derelect over years of neglect but back in 2008 it became a world heritage site. Tourism brought money and the city was revived and renovated. The old buildings restored and street art became a focal attraction to tell the story of the historical city. Penang was also voted by trip advisor, the foodie capital of the world, so with such a mix of cultures and cuisine, lets treat our selves to some of the local dishes. With no sailing experience, we bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off from Australia sailing to the Pacific! We have since cruised through New Caledonia, Vanuatu, the Solomon islands, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and then onto the boat yard in Malaysia to prepare for the years to come. With a new engine, we continued onto Thailand, then back down into Indonesia and specifically West Sumatra to live the island life and chase the surf. With our Sailing plans changing, we returned to Thailand to wait for the weather and begin our journey to the northern route of the Indian Ocean to Sri Lanka before heading south across the Indian Ocean once cyclone season has finished and the trade winds begin! We were on our shake down sail when the mooring we were on failed and our home ended up on the reef. We saved the old girl and got her back to the boat yard for repairs to continue on our adventure! Ready to sail across the Indian Ocean, we were only days away from leaving when the pandemic begun closing countries around us... We are stuck for now, but enjoying the slower pace! We departed the east coast of Australia in July 2017 and have since sailed over 10000nm offshore. We have explored some amazing countries and met some beautiful people along the way. We have experienced so many different and diverse cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of nowhere, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our lives doing it! The adventure is just beginning as we sail West with the trades around the World! BOAT REFIT PART 3 and ERIC's Birthday. In this episode, we continue our boat refit in the San Carlos Marina in Mexico. We first celebrate Eric's 31st birthday and go right back to business. Since we got a compost toilet, we got rid of the 2 through hulls we didn't need anymore and refiberglassed them. We also got a new oversized windlass and had to do a major fiberglass project in order to get rid of the previous windlass deck hole.
When I covered the Damen SeaXplorer range last year it piqued the interest of many viewers. Since then Damen have made huge progress, so I asked Eduardo to find out exactly what is happening at this incredible Dutch shipyard.

After sailing for a week to reach San Carlos, we relax a bit and go fishing with Erica’s dad Jacques who has a boat of his own here. We knew there was a boat load (excuse the pun) of work to be done to prepare to leave here on the dock for the upcoming 4 months, however our day fishing and putting turned into swimming with seals and one of our most favorite moments in the water. They were some of the most playful puppies in the water and we couldn’t get enough of them. We were happy to spend the day loading up our hearts and minds with the joy we received from the ocean to take back with us to Colorado. In addition to the fun with seals we then get serious and prepare and pack with to spend a summer back in Colorado with family and friends. Thanks for watching the adventures of WE! Join us today at 18:00 GMT for another exciting edition of Time Over Distance with Alex Thomson. Thomson, onboard his VPLP designed IMOCA 60 HUGO BOSS, has just begun his quest to win the single-handed, round-the-world Vendée Globe yesterday as 33 boats set sail from France. Thomson, 46, finished second in the last edition of the race four years ago and is aiming to go one better this time. It is expected to take him between two and three months to complete the race. "I genuinely believe if you finish the Vendée Globe it's an amazing achievement. Everything for me is about the performance. If I'm performing to my expectations, I'm happy. We're taking a human, and then we're taking a machine, how do you put those two things together in what we would call perfect synergy." Whitsundays Ocean Crusaders Adventure: Beach cleanup - Whitehaven Beach -Sailing Bluefin SNEAK PEAK!
FULL VIDEO TO COME!!! A sneak peak at the awesome adventure which was 2020's Ocean Crusaders Whitsundays beach clean-up! The Sailing Bluefin Crew joined the flotilla for a week to clean-up our beautiful Whitsundays, starting in the Lindeman Islands and adventuring all around the Whitsundays including to the gorgeous Whitehaven beach, pictured in this amazing preview! This was such a rewarding experience, with a fantastic outcome of over 2 tonnes of rubbish collected from the beaches around the Whitsundays over the week. In this sneak peak, we have just spent hours from 6 am to 12, hauling/digging out a dinghy from the mangroves behind Hasslewood Island, and picking up all sorts of other plastics including tyres, fuel containers, plastic bottles...the list goes on. After working hard to help our beautiful environment, we were so lucky to be able to enjoy the stunning day and warm waters of Whitehaven beach, one of the many precious beaches, we are working so hard to preserve. It's important for us to show the two sides of this beautiful place, we show us enjoying the one of the most beautiful places on earth, to emphasis how important it is that we keep it this way! We aim to leave nothing behind but our footprints!!! Please share this video to provide awareness and show your support for this awesome cause! Let us know what you think in the comments below!
