There’s two types of sailors- those that have run aground and those that lie about it!! We set out to find our friend Torpedinho’s place, which is located up a shallow river, only to find the entrance a maze of shallow sand banks. The GPS coordinates are a little off and we run smack into a sandbank trying to cross the river bar. To make matters worse Delos is being smashed by a running swell beam on, and bashing her keel so hard the entire boat shutters with every impact. It takes some quick thinking but we are able to use the bow thruster and engine thrust to pivot her bow into the swell, and eventually back to deeper water. A heard of wild elephants is too hard to pass up for Delos, so when we heard a rumor of an island on the remote West Coast of the Andamans we immediately set sail! After a nights sail and some searching we finally anchored in front of Interview Island. In the middle of no where we found the ranger station just as described and made contact with the small group of guys protecting this awesome place. With our little forestry permit in hand we head off into the interior of Interview Island to meet up with the rangers that live on the island. They tell us if we see any elephants and they charge us to either climb a tree or run in a zig-zag pattern. But they have a big rifle and seem to know their stuff. We trek through the island, go for a swim, and search for wild elephants! With our time running short we pull up the anchor and set sail back to Port Blair. On the passage back we cut through a really narrow channel and have to send Brady up the mast to avoid shout out all theshallow spots. We dodge a few squalls and retur to Port Blair to get ready for our big sail to Cocos Keeling, Australia! Our Mission It’s simple really- we just want to make you SMILE! We do this because we LOVE it. Given our short time on this AMAZING PLANET there’s absolutely, positively, nothing more we’d rather be doing with our time! While in Walvis Bay we met some really incredible people and were able to safely leave Delos for a little camping trip in the Desert! Sailing to South Africa we stop at remote Bassas Da India for a shark diving expedition!!! It was really sad to leave our beloved Madagascar but at the same time I felt incredibly excited to explore a new continent. We made plans to stop for some Scuba Diving at Bassas Da India, an extremely remote sunken atoll out in the middle of the Mozambique channel. No people, no land, and hundreds of sharks! This was extreme diving for sure and I definitely felt nervous, we had sharks circling us the whole time and a huge grouper almost swallowed our Gopro + Brian’s hand! One of my favorite passages! But they ended up dragging anchor, and when they went to let out more chain, they found that it was not fastened to the boat, and they lost not only the anchor but their entire length of chain. To make matters worse, in all of the mayhem, they end up on the reef in the middle of the night.... Whirlwind of a week! Getting hit by a fishing boat again, then nationwide power outage wasn't in the plan... but hey that's boat life, nothing really goes to plan! One half of us is in Portugal on our new boat, trying to get things organised so we can push off the wall and get out sailing again. The other half of us is in the Caribbean on our old boat, getting some last minute boat work sorted, then on to Canada. ___________________________ Our prior boat - If you are interested in buying our previous boat, Supernova, a beautiful fully kitted out Prout Quasar 50, please send us an email at: sailingsupernova@gmail.com Supernova has tons of upgrades. 4kw solar, 2600 AH of lifpo4 lithium batteries. Full electric galley, watermaker, 2 years new electronics including auto pilot, radar and 16 inch chartplotter. Custom dinghy lift where you can leave the engine on (comes with 10.5 rib with almost new 20hp motor), new mainsail and jib, 14 foot by 7 foot custom hard top, dive compressor, two electric toilets with 2x 100 litre blackwater tank, put in 3 new fridge/freezer units, new prop shafts, 8 new underwater lights. We took the bottom down to gel-coat and put 6 layers of barrier coat on before new bottom paint (that was 3 years ago) and we replaced every through hull. We installed two new prop shafts and aquadrives. It has 4 staterooms, one oversized queen bed, one queen bed and to double beds with 4 heads but we are using 2 heads as just storage. You can live remote on this boat for months and months without needing to resupply (3 fridge/freezers, crazy amount of solar and giant lithium batteries etc). It still needs some cosmetic work inside and a couple of things here and there, but could cross oceans right now as is. We love this boat but we are aware we aren't going to get back anywhere near the money we put into her.
