We met up with Niobe, an Amel 50, in Medana Bay Marina, Lombok Indonesia. Niobe is a beautiful yacht, and I thought y'all would like to see what she looks like inside and out. Benz has sailed Niobe with his family halfway around the world with the ARC. There is a lot of good information in the video, so sit back and enjoy. The Amel 50 is a beautiful and capable yacht, with ALL the amenities. This boat feels like a 60 footer inside, and is very comfortable! A true passage maker. You have to see this! To fasten the futtocks we use Black Locust Treenails (Trunnels/Trennels), which are traditional wedged pegs, used for centuries in ship-building and timber-framing. We also get some more of the copper fastenings removed, build some adjustable trestles, and establish the centerline of the boat. Welcome Taylor to the crew! SCREAMING and a loud CRASH from our neighbors boats smashing together interrupts our welcome breakfast. I run outside to see what's going on to find 3 boats being smashed together by the wind and currents. A boat has broken loose, taking two more with it, and they're dragging FAST. Deciding this is more pressing than the Hollandaise sauce I'm whipping up we take off in Maggie to play tugboat and help by pushing the boats apart and resetting their new hooks. It's quite an exciting first morning having our new crew onboard, Taylor from @TaylorsTravels , who just joined the day before. Then the next night it happens to Delos herself. After 4 days solidly set our anchor breaks free and we find ourselves dragging. It's an all our race to pick up and reset the hook before we smash into our neighbors and the shallows reefs around us. In this episode, I finish twisting the beam shelves into place, bending them into their final positions forward and aft. I receive the repaired part of the pipe threading machine in the mail back from Keith Rucker, who brazed together the broken pieces and replaced the bushings. After reassembling the threading machine, it works wonderfully. Finally, I need to work out an efficient way to fabricate bolts to fasten the beam shelves to the frames, and so I make a few haphazard jibs to help.
