We went LIVE from the cockpit and tried 30 different hot sauces on the boat 🌶️😱 Catfish balls, Christmas chaos, and heat levels we did NOT expect. In this Sailing Into Nirvana podcast, we’re anchored at the marina shoreline, cooking fresh catfish we caught last weekend, rolling it into catfish balls, and testing a full 30-pack of hot sauces — from mild to absolutely brutal. Reactions were real. We also talk about our last podcast at the Bad Santa Boathouse snow globes, reflect on Christmas, and wish everyone a Happy Post-Christmas and New Year from the boat. ⚓ Live sailing podcast 🌶️ Hot sauce challenge 🎣 Catfish cooking on board 🎄 Christmas gift gone wrong (or right?) 👉 Drop a comment: Which sauce would you try — or avoid? #SailingIntoNirvana #HotSauceChallenge #BoatPodcast #LiveOnTheBoat #CatfishRecipe #SailingLife #FoodChallenge

In depth video view of my Welsford Scraps "Lil' FREDA". Departing from JW's plan, I built her to split apart and 'nest' inside the cockpit of GRACE my welsford Tread Lightly. No need to stow her in the cockpit or on foredeck etc when taking Grace to a different location. She assembles in less than 5 minutes and even assembled is a breeze to lift single handed and carry some disatnce! She easily fits in thje back of my Subaru wagon too. Scraps design is sooooo slippery thru the water and such a lovely little vessell to row without effort. Small, so care is needed, but she's a winner!

In this video, I break down the difference between: Emotional safety – how safe your boat feels Operational safety – how safe you actually are when things go wrong I’ll show you why more space, bigger decks, and bright interiors don’t protect you from storms, engine failures, or emergencies—and why understanding your boat matters far more than how it looks. Many beginners believe a bigger boat automatically equates to a "safe boat". This video challenges that common misconception, explaining that true "boating safety" comes from understanding real-world security over superficial appearances. We offer essential "boating tips for beginners" to help you make informed decisions and achieve genuinely "safe boating" for you and your family. 00:00 Why Beginners Think Bigger = Safer 00:28 Emotional Safety vs Operational Safety 01:07 Comfort Can Distract You From Real Danger 01:54 What Actually Makes a Boat Safe 02:45 The Mismatch Between Confidence and Knowledge 03:12 Why Understanding Beats Feeling Safe #Sailing #BoatingTips #BeginnerBoaters #BoatSafety #Catamaran #Monohull #SailingLife

Taking delivery of a new yacht is a milestone, but for a Privilege Catamaran owner, the handover process is an entirely different caliber of experience. In this video, shared with us by the Privilege shipyard in Les Sables-d'Olonne, we go behind the scenes to see exactly what happens when an owner receives the keys to their new "Home at Sea." Why the Privilege Handover is Different While many production shipyards offer a few hours of orientation and a quick signature, Privilege provides a comprehensive, multi-day onboarding process. Because every Privilege is semi-custom, the handover is tailored to the specific systems and bespoke features of your vessel. What to Expect During a Privilege Handover: Direct Access to the Craftsmen: Meet the engineers and artisans who built your boat to understand every technical nuance. In-Depth System Mastery: Beyond a basic walkthrough, owners receive intensive training on the advanced electrical, plumbing, and navigation systems. The Atlantic Sea Trial: Conduct your final shakedown cruise in the demanding waters of the Bay of Biscay, ensuring your yacht is truly offshore-ready. Bespoke Documentation: Receive a personalized "Owner’s Manual" specific to your hull’s unique configuration, not just a generic handbook. Direct After-Sales Relationship: Meet the dedicated After-Sales Manager who will be your point of contact for the life of the vessel. Start Your Build Journey with The Multihull Company As the Official US Partner for Privilege Marine, The Multihull Company bridges the gap between the American sailor and the French shipyard. Our brokers—all experienced captains—accompany our clients through the entire build and handover process to ensure a seamless transition into yacht ownership. ⚓ Explore the Privilege Signature Series: https://privilegecatamarans.com/ 📩 Speak with a Privilege Specialist: info@multihullcompany.com | +1-215-508-2704 📍 Meet Us in Person this Spring! If you’re going to bring your child on the boat, the goal is simple: safe and very, very comfortable. In this video we walk through kid gear by age—starting with a Mustang infant life jacket designed to be comfortable, with room so it doesn’t push on the neck, and built so if a child falls in, the collar supports the neck and keeps them upright. As kids get older and start moving around the boat, we show a child PFD with a crotch strap so it stays on if they go overboard, plus reflective so you can spot them with a light at night. For older kids who are on the boat all the time—especially in youth racing programs—we cover comfortable youth PFDs meant to be worn continuously, and why learning early to wear a PFD in dinghies is a good habit. Then we shift to comfort: keeping kids warm and dry so they stay focused and happy on the boat, with kid foul weather pieces, bibs, waterproof smocks, and warmer options for kids who get cold—because warm, dry kids are how you start the life of a lifelong sailor. After an ice storm and a late-night show, we return to our sailboat to see what winter left behind. Frozen lines, rigging checks, and a full winter boat inspection to make sure everything survived. After the storm, we bring in provisions for the weekend, wake up to quiet marina mornings, make coffee and a warm omelet bowl with music playing in the background, and take care of a failing electrical outlet onboard. This is real winter sailboat life—maintenance, problem-solving, and slowing down together. If you’re into sailing vlogs, liveaboard life, or learning what winter boating is really like, this episode is for you. ⚓ Subscribe for honest sailing life, boat maintenance, and cozy moments from the galley. Apparently this part of souther spain in the alboran sea is essentially one big continuous storm with hurricane force from the end of Jan to the end of Feb... Mea colpa, we did not knew that. So we have been battling up to 78knots of wind for the past 2 weeks and is not stoping for the next 3 weeks... Biminis are blow to shredders, line are broken... morale is a bit log... but as my friend Eddy say, better than being at the office so... yeah we good!

Are you planning a cruising trip to the Bahamas? While the islands are beautiful, medical infrastructure can be scarce. In this episode, we sit down with Tony Marinello, a retired New York State Trooper and the founder of Tropic Air Rescue, to discuss a critical safety gap for sailors and travelers in the Bahamas. What You’ll Learn in This Episode: The Danger Gap: Tony explains that once you go east of the U.S., you are essentially in a "third-world country" regarding medical care. With only three hospitals across 700 islands, getting help for a stroke, heart attack, or trauma can be life-threatening. Why Helicopters Matter: Unlike fixed-wing airplanes that require airports and ambulance transfers, Tropic Air Rescue utilizes helicopters to fly directly from the scene of the injury to trauma centers in Florida. They are the only operator with medical teams standing by 24/7, ready to launch immediately. Affordable Peace of Mind: We break down the membership model. For roughly $500 a month per couple, members receive immediate evacuation services without upfront payment, as the company bills your insurance directly. Entrepreneurial Insights: Tony shares his journey of identifying a massive market gap—the complete lack of helicopter air ambulances in the Bahamas—and offers advice on validating business ideas. Whether you are sailing, boating, or vacationing in the Bahamas, this is a service you need to know about before you leave the dock. ► This week, we’re taking you to the British Virgin Islands for seven days of family sailing aboard a Moorings 5000 (Leopard 50). ► On the itinerary: Tortola, Cooper Island, Saba Rock, Virgin Gorda, Jost Van Dyke, and Anegada… Exploring these islands and anchorages means short sails of one to three hours per day, except for a beautiful longer crossing to Anegada, a flat coral island set slightly apart from the rest of the archipelago. As for the crew, while Charlotte is already an experienced young sailor, it’s a first for Mahé and Marceau! Also on board: Aude, Joffrey, Laurie, Quentin, Pierre-Yves… and me, Maria. A true nine-person adventure, filled with time under sail, laughter at anchor, and the logistics of life as a floating tribe. ► We’ll also be sharing our sailing experience aboard the Moorings 5000: seaworthiness, cabin comfort, the layout of the convivial galley, how the outdoor spaces work for children… We’ll tell you whether this catamaran is truly well designed for family cruising. ► Sign up for our newsletter and win a free two-month subscription to Multihulls World by clicking here: https://bit.ly/48JP1Vk ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests!

I spent a few weeks exploring and scuba diving around Taveuni Fiji, then spent another few weeks in the Solomon Islands, scuba diving on the Solomons Master liveaboard, and then some wreck shore diving north of Honiara, the capital city. Beautiful, interesting dives and natural sites - plenty of waterfalls, jungle and rock formations!
