We headed into our woodland to cook a proper Dutch oven pizza over the fire… but this trip turned into something a bit more special. It was Hudson’s 2nd birthday, so we decided to celebrate it the only way that makes sense for us — deep in the forest, surrounded by trees, family, and a good fire going. As part of my preparation for my solo sail around the world I went to a professional Sea Survival Training. The most intense moment? Being locked inside a car, dropped into the water and flipped 180 degrees – total disorientation, heart pounding, learning to stay calm and escape. Later we faced a full storm simulation in darkness with wind, thunder and waves. We finished in open water testing life jackets and group survival techniques. This day was far more than theory – it was about facing fear, trusting yourself and preparing for the unexpected. One huge step closer to my solo circumnavigation.
