As the UK went into the first lockdown in 2020, sailor and former Yachting World magazine columnist, 70 year old John Passmore headed for the Atlantic Ocean in his 1973 Rival. He left his home port of Walton-on-the- Naze in Essex, headed north, around the top of the Shetland Islands and into the Atlantic Ocean. He isolated for 42 days and travelled over 3600 miles. Before returning to Falmouth for supplies and repairs, he stopped at the Isles of Scilly to write his book. This is a MCB exclusive account of his amazing adventure.
