Episode 300 | Sailing to Ilhabela to take the next step in our seamanship. In this episode, Ben takes on the challenge of becoming a *Master of Yachts* training through *International Yacht Training (IYT)* at Azimuth Náutica here in Brazil, while MP joins the course pursuing a *Yachtmaster Offshore* certification. What started as a professional goal quickly became something much bigger: a deep dive into responsibility, decision-making and what it really means to command a boat and care for the people on board. ⛵️ A huge thank you to *International Yacht Training (IYT)* for giving us this opportunity. Whether you’re dreaming of going professional or simply want a solid, internationally recognized foundation for your sailing journey, this training can make a real difference. 👉 https://www.iytworld.com ⚓ Training completed at *Azimuth Náutica* (Brazil) 👉 https://azimuthnautica.com.br 0:00 What is a Master of Yachts? 2:56 Meeting the school & first lesson 5:00 MP's big announcement 5:40 Master of Yachts vs Yachtmaster Offshore 6:38 Back to the classroom 7:05 Why international certifications matter 7:45 Studying, pressure & responsibility 11:25 Chart plotting 13:03 Ben's birthday 17:21 Practical training on the water (sailing) 26:17 Practical training on the water (motor) 33:22 Meet the crew 42:59 Final exam day! 45:40 Did we pass? ⛵ *Hop aboard & follow our journey* → SUBSCRIBE https://bit.ly/3dI3hBn 💙 *Support the adventure:* 🌊 *Join our crew on Patreon* → Exclusive content here: https://www.patreon.com/sailingyaba ☕ *Send us a drink* → via PayPal: https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=JEA5R5RUDJDLY 🧢 *Shop our gear* → Coolest T-shirts and hats here: https://shopsailingyaba.com/ 💌 *Receive letters from the sea* → Sign up (for free) for MP's newsletter: http://sailingyaba.substack.com ✨ *Want to sail with us?* We’d love to share an adventure with you! But this wasn’t always our life. In 2020, we found Yabá abandoned, sinking, and on the verge of being lost forever. We had no experience in boatbuilding, only a wild dream and the determination to make it happen. We worked relentlessly, learning from the best local shipwrights and pouring everything we had into this rebuild. It took four years of sweat, setbacks, and unwavering commitment, but today, Yabá is more than just a boat, she’s our home, our biggest adventure, and the proof that crazy dreams *can* come true. Now, we’re sailing into the unknown, exploring remote islands, embracing the unpredictable and sharing the highs, the lows, and everything in between. This episode discusses the old sailor's adage: "one hand for the boat, and one for yourself." It's not just an old saying, but also an important safety philosophy that encourages sailors to always be mindful of how they are holding onto the boat. Following this advice, sailors should always maintain at least one point of contact with the boat when moving about or performing a task to avoid man overboard (MOB) incidents. In late summer we visited the Marsa Shagra Village near Marsa Alam in the south of Egypt. Most of the time we dived from shore to explore the beautiful house reef in front of the village. From time to time we hopped on a zodiac to visit places like Abu Dabbab and the epic Elphinstone Reef, where we met a very friendly Giant oceanic manta ray during two of our dives. Marsa Shagra is definitly worth visiting because of the outstandig diving conditions. Camera: GoPro Hero 11 Music: Infinity by Naski (Reunion EP) (All rights of the song belong to their respective owners.) Thanks for watching! Make Bubbles No Troubles

Waialua's First Ever Warrior Dash held on the Dillingham Ranch. Very awesome experience and hope I get to be involved in future ones either through volunteering or running this exciting 3 mile obstacle course. We got muddy, we got wet, we got to hop over flames! This was an awesome chance to get out and challenge ourselves while having fun. Would love to have the Barefoot Hikers do this in the coming years.

Japanese Walking isn’t just a TikTok trend — it actually has two distinct forms: 1) Traditional Japanese Walking A slow, steady, mindful style practiced by samurai and long-distance walkers. Arms and legs on the same side move together (right arm + right leg), unlike Western walking where opposite limbs synchronize. It’s designed for endurance, posture, and quiet efficiency over long distances. 2) Modern “Japanese Walking” (Fitness Craze) A new workout trending abroad: - 3 minutes at ~40% effort - 3 minutes at ~70% effort → Repeated for about 30 minutes It blends intervals with relaxed aerobic movement for a simple, accessible cardio routine. Both celebrate movement as a daily practice — one rooted in history, the other in modern fitness. #JapaneseWalking #SamuraiWalking #Longevity #Tokyo #WalkingWorkout #HealthTips #JapanLife #BlueZones #MindfulMovement #japan #fitness #longevity

The Mubadala Abu Dhabi SailGP was the final of 12 events in a busy and action packed season. Looking at the overall scoreboard going into the final weekend, on the face of it if you weren’t one of the top four teams there wasn’t much to play for. Barring a disaster Emirates Great Britain and the Kiwi Black Foils were pretty much guaranteed a place in the three boat grand final. This meant that the focus for the weekend was going to be between the formally dominant Australian Bonds Flying Roos and the defending champions the Spanish Los Gallos who would be fighting it out for the remaining spot. And yet Abu Dhabi was far more than that. New wings, new players and new dramas and more money on the table, this was an event that said more about how SailGP has developed and what it has become. And then there was the final race, 8 minutes with a $2million payout. Even then it wasn't straightforward. With all three finalists leading at some point on the course, the grand final was not only dramatic, but another perfect indication of a step change for SailGP. Here’s the PlanetSail review of the final event.
