We got off just before sunrise, leaving Royal Cork Yacht Club planning for Kilmore Quay. The weather remains calm which has made the passage easy, while it has been cold the crew will that that over the rain, wind and waves we could see in this part of the world.

South coast of Sri Lanka, March 2022. After 5 days without whale activity we finally spotted a fast moving, not fully grown (about 20m) bluewhale feeding in front of a river mouth. i jumped into water 8 times in the about 3 hours we were "chasing" the whale, in the video you can see the 4 dives where i was able to see it in the murky water, although i wasnt able to get the nationalgeographic-shot.

We had to lower the masts for the low bridges on the Illinois Waterway. Now that we are on the Mississippi River, the are no more low bridges. We are lifting the masts back into place for the remaining journey to the Gulf of Mexico. This is a short video showing the schooner masts being raised.

Cartagena is an interesting city in the south of Spain with a lot of Roman history. It was founded in 221 BC. by the North African army commander Hasdrubal, who found the city strategic to conquer more inland areas. The city was called 'Qart chadast' (New City), just like the city of Carthago in Tunesia. In 209 B.C. the Romans conquered the city and made it part of the Roman Empire under the name of Carthago Nova. The harbor with our catamaran was very close to the old city and with our drone we made a movie of the Roman Theatre behind the harbor. The Roman Theatre in Cartagena was the largest amphitheatre in the Roman Empire at that time: 11.000 visitors could be there.

We are a middle aged couple that has left our hectic business lives to go sailing with our boat Fridá af Wisby and our cat Litza. Our goal is not to go to a specific place but to reach a state of mind where we can really enjoy life. Anders has been at the sea most of his life and sailed for the Swedish national dingy sailing team as a young man. Gitte has also grown up with boats and spent every summer sailing with her father as a teenager but made a pause of about 15 years without sailing as an adult, had just begun to pick-up the interest before she meet Anders in 2017. Onboard we also have our cat Litza a 4 year old Devon Rex we call her the cattain because cats always decide over their humans. Fridá af Wisby is a Wauquiez 47 pilot saloon that we Gitte and Anders bought in UK in 2019 and that we have sailed to Gotland and in season 1 2020 we sail in the Baltic Sea. During season 2 We sailded south to Dieppe Normandy France. After a winter in France in Season 3 we started to sail the Atlantic coast of Europe to Xufre in Spain where we lifted the boat over the summer while we where back in Gotland to work at our hostel we got there. Season 4 got a short sailing season where we only sailed to Lagos on the Algarve coast of Portugal where we hauled out once again this time to go throug a long list of boatwork and to build a solar arch to make the boat more self-suficient with electricity. After 6 months in Lagos we kicked-off season 5 with real bluewater sailing first to the northerly Atlantic island Porto Santo and Madeira and then further out to the Azores that lays in the middle of the Atlantic ocean before turning back towards the mainland and south coast of Portugal again.

After having arrived in Lagos last week we setup for 6 months of wintering in Lagos. We find ourself in hospital after Fleur trips and hits her nose pretty hard on the table in the boat. I start with the long list of boat jobs and Michelle does homeschooling with the girls and explores Lagos and surroundings. We visit our friends from sv Dali in Portimão before they set off for Madeira. The girls enjoy the beach and we buy them a used surfboard so they can practice the skills they learned earlier this year in Australia. They discover a cool science museum where they spend a whole afternoon or two.

Queste riprese si riferiscono al Giro d'Italia del 2023, all'arrivo a Porto Azzurro dopo 39.7 nm in poco più di 14 ore di navigazione alla media dei 2.8 knt, partiti dal Porto di Santo Stefano (Argentario), arrivammo abbastanza stanchi. Era il 16 agosto, il caldo ci aveva già lungamente segnato fin da inizio luglio, quando nel Mar Ionio ci siamo ritrovati a navigare per decine di ore sotto un sole cocente e spesso sopra i 40°. Io ed Igor eravamo davvero sfiniti, nel video si nota la stanchezza nelle manovre, anche perché in quelle ore, per la registrazione, avevamo chiuso e riaperto le vele più volte...
