Within a couple of days we had found Juzzy! His unique story took us by surprise and with such a positive attitude towards life, I wanted to meet this man. Collecting Juzzy from the ferry in Waisai, after a quick food shop, we headed out to sea for the first time. Juzzy had never been on a sail boat before and what better way to initiate him to the world of sailing then a 40nm sail on day one! Chuck him in the Deep End! We are a young couple with a dog, who with no sailing experience, bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off sailing around the Pacific! We just arrived to Indonesia after cruising the Pacific islands. How to install a stretch belt on trucks and cars. We are showing how to do this on a 2014 Chevy Truck, but it works the same on most vehicles that use stretch belts. While it's not hard to put a stretch belt on, still miss the tensioner. Tools you will need to put on a stretch belt are zip ties and a method to turn the pully. Sailing out to Lady Musgrave Island on the Great Barrier Reef was an exciting prospect, our first reef atoll visit since New Caledonia and our first glimpse of the famous Great Barrier Reef. A 55 mile overnight sail to the island brought us to a paradise for wildlife. The island is a nature reserve and is stunning both above and below the water. We are a British couple who set off from England in 2016 to fulfill our dream of sailing around the world on our 37ft sail boat, Florence. s/v Cloudy Bay (Hallberg-Rassy 54) left Herring Bay MD on a crisp bright day, and after a long day of motoring we anchored in the dark, in Fisher Bay, Deltaville VA. Overnight the wind picks up, and next morning we set off for a great downwind sailing to Norfolk VA. It’s been so long since we sailed, that we forgot basic tasks, like tighten the halyards, or how to rig the pole correctly. It was a very enjoyable sailing trip, despite the rolling and the cold wind. In Norfolk, we dock right next to the historical town and the NOAA center, thanks to Gary & Greta, the OCC port officer, who arranged it for us. We were planning to stay for a couple of days, but the weather had other arrangements for us. We monitored PredictWind on daily basis, till we eventually got the right weather window for Bermuda. So we ended up spending a week in Norfolk, most of which was spent onboard, with jobs: cut holes in the cockpit tent for the mainsail and runner lines, re-seal master cabin window, flush the main engine and the generator raw water system. We do manage to squeeze a walk in Norfolk Town, on the only day when it didn’t rain! 6-16 Nov 2018

A short video on the technique of using a parbuckle line to bring the stern of a boat in, in stormy weather when the boat is blown off. Small demonstration and second demonstration of using a winch to bring the stern in to the dock. Sailing technique. Not an every day technique by far. In fact not a technique we have used in the last 4 years. But it is fun to play with. People will 'sweat/ swig the line' to bring a boat in. Mostly people will just get it right first time pulling in. But you never know when the day will arrive trying to haul a 50ft high freeboard boat into the dock, with 40knots blowing you off. Anchored, cummins, jerry cans, screwing, dancing, fuel, diesel. We are still anchored. Started to go out, the engine died and ended up being towed back to the same anchorage we were at previously. Steve has done some diagnostics and we’re making progress on fixing the issue. Using the time to do some DIY, we adjusted the board where we secure our jerry cans. It was lowered to better align with the height of the cans and had to be cut so it would not rub against the turn buckle on one of the shrouds. Karen screwed on bolt protectors so the bolts would not rub on the cans. What do we do at anchor? Bringing in the 2025 new year we reflected on 2024, living in the Florida Keys and are hoping to leave this anchorage soon. We wish all of our subscribers and viewers the very best for 2025. After a slow morning, picking up some rediculously big loafs of focaccia bread we ordered last night, waking Ky from his beauty sleep to deliver his portion, and some tinkering with our outboard engine, we piled into our little dinghy, and set off in search of some cool beaches and reef to explore. But first theres something I would like to address… On September 10 2021 we left Ashtabula Ohio, sailing our previous boat Seawind across Lake Erie to find the Erie Barge Canal, and travel across its 340 miles of bridges and locks to the Atlantic Ocean. I knew nothing of video production and had never used an actual camera, but always had my iPhone’s camera rolling because the thought of somehow capturing our adventures felt right. I left my work in my hometown, and when we left I was living on a small savings, with Katy’s remote online job being our only source of income. Our relationship was built on conversations of how we change as people with the passing of time. And when Katy told me “I got us, use this space in your life to create something new”, I started making these videos for YouTube and set a goal of making 100 without complaint. I figured that would be about 2 years of weekly content, and enough time to see if I enjoy it, hopefully learn a thing our two about making them, and see if its possible to make some money. And now here I am, making my 100th episode. SO much has happened since that first video in Tonawanda, NY and our channel is blossoming into something that I am more proud of week after week. We have been living on Nandji for 4 years now and we have steadily been upgrading her as we sail around the world. We have always completed upgrades for her safety and sailing performance but we are finally upgrading for our comfort and appearance! We rip out the old carpet that decorated the walls and replace with some fancy carpentry to match the rest of the boat. We want to give her a fresh new modern look whilst keeping the traditional boat feel and not making it look like an ikea kit! With no sailing experience, we bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off from Australia sailing to the Pacific! We have since cruised through New Caledonia, Vanuatu, the Solomon islands, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and then onto the boat yard in Malaysia to prepare for the years to come. With a new engine, we continued onto Thailand, then back down into Indonesia and specifically West Sumatra to live the island life and chase the surf. With our Sailing plans changing, we returned to Thailand to wait for the weather and begin our journey to the northern route of the Indian Ocean to Sri Lanka before heading south across the Indian Ocean once cyclone season has finished and the trade winds begin! We were on our shake down sail when the mooring we were on failed and our home ended up on the reef. We saved the old girl and got her back to the boat yard for repairs to continue on our adventure! Ready to sail across the Indian Ocean, we were only days away from leaving when the pandemic begun closing countries around us... We are stuck for now, but enjoying the slower pace as we have our first baby on the way to be born overseas! We departed the east coast of Australia in July 2017 and have since sailed over 10000nm offshore. We have explored some amazing countries and met some beautiful people along the way. We have experienced so many different and diverse cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of nowhere, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our lives doing it! In this episode we are finally free of the yard and after saying our goodbyes, we take a quick shakeout sail up to Sandy Island in Carriacou. We notice that the prop shaft and stuffing box is getting quite hot on the way so take a few hours to do some repairs but eventually carry straight on sailing up to Bequia, a lovely little town full of sailboats, fresh fruit and veg markets and happy people. Meanwhile, on the other side of the world, Khiara's parents are making the epic journey to come for a visit and have a few mishaps along the way. Back to us in Bequia, we're so excited to finally get the boat back in the water though that after only a few hours ashore, we both get itchy feet and want to set sail again! Continuing our sailing around the world adventures, we sail to two gems in Croatia little visited by yachties: Korcula, the birthplace of one of the world's greatest sailors Marco Polo, and Mljet National Park, the first marine park in the Mediterranean. Along the way we visit Vis' Green Grotto and have a pleasant surprise crossing paths with our previous crew mate Kalena!
