After three years sailing in New Zealand and preparing for Category 1 (regulations for New Zealand registered vessels planning to sail offshore), we set sail from New Zealand to Fiji on the 23 May 2024. This would be Vicki and Tāiko's first ocean passage and Adam's third. We have since sailed to Vanuatu and New Caledonia, where we will be during the cyclone season. We fund our lifestyle by working part time. This sometimes involves returning to New Zealand to help top up the bank account. The other avenue is through our content creation where we document our journey though YouTube videos and our our social media accounts and website. I want...... no NEED! For this wonderful, amazing, great dog "Prada" to be adopted to a loving forever home somewhere far far away where it's much colder than it is here in the Dominican Republic! Here's the deal: For the past couple months I've been volunteering with the Coconut Hound Haven in Luperon the Dominican Republic. This place is a sanctuary for dogs that have been abandoned, mistreated, mal nourished, or left to starve. This is the place that's cleaned up the streets of the little town, and helped give so many dogs a second chance at life. They do an absolutely amazing job, especially considering the limited resources they have to work with(donate if you can please). When I first started volunteering I'd help walk, socialize, and play with the dogs. Yes that is what they call helping out, and it's very much needed. But I just call that fun. I got to pet & play with dogos! However, I soon started realized I could do more. I could help specific dogs get adopted using my social media channels. So that's what I did. In particular I've been focusing on Prada. A 3 year old, 60lb pure bred Shepard/Huskey 50/50 mix. And she has been doing amazing! Now on the return leg of his Atlantic circuit he faces the big one - the 2,200-mile trade-wind passage across the Atlantic to Dominica Island in the West Indies. There is no diesel engine.
