Torbjorn Tornqvist and his crew on Artemis Racing continued their progressive form on a closely-fought third day at the RC44 Marstrand Cup off Sweden’s west coast, moving from second place to first overall after nine races. The dark blue-hulled all-carbon one-design with Tornqvist on the wheel scored a third place in the first race of the day – heat seven of the series – then second in race eight, and recovered well to finish fifth in race nine when they briefly dropped from first to eighth at the leeward mark. Artemis now leads the overall ranking on 37 points and by two points from Nico Poons’ crew on the much-improved Charisma which jumped four places from sixth to second with the best overall performance of the day. They scored a win in race seven, were fifth in race eight and were second in race nine. In third place, another two points behind, is Bronenosec Sailing Team jointly skippered this week by Vladimir Liubomirov and Kirill Frolov. Then comes their fellow Russian Vladimir Prosikhin on Team Nika in fourth place. Meanwhile Igor Lah’s CEEREF – which led after the first day and won today’s final race – is now in fifth place. This week we share the general plans of sailing to Florida as well as show how we make GREAT coffee on board our boat. If you are new to our channel, my wife and I make videos every Friday about our lifestyle living aboard our classic sailboat with our two grandsquids. Years ago, we planned to sail our way around to Florida and weren't staying in any one location for more than six months. As we went through the process of helping out our grandchildren and going through that effort, we stayed in one place for stability and family reasons. We continued to work on the boat and prep for this move east, knowing that we would eventually make it. The time is getting close, and I share candidly what our plans are and how we are thinking about our modified cruising life with a 13 and five-year-old in our Sequel of life. I also share with you how I make coffee on board our boat (and frankly when I travel, or we are in the RV as well) This is a great way to make delicious coffee that is easy, cost-effective and uses little to no electricity (none of you have a gas stove). I use the following products, manual burr grinder, gooseneck tea kettle, and either a french press or pour over. I like to mix it up and a bit and do both. Hear Peter Harken tell the tale of how a single detail (the bounce of a plastic ball) launched an entire company. This detail made all the difference. Less mass. Faster acceleration. If you listen to Peter Harken recount the moment he realized the Delrin® ball bearings he spilled on the floor while assembling a prototype he’d designed working at a medical equipment company during his university career, he’ll tell you that when he saw those balls hit the pavement and bounce he was surprised at how quickly they reacted. They appeared to spring off the floor. To him that meant they would react equally quickly inside the sheaves of the first Harken ball-bearing blocks. Peter’s watershed understanding was that to make a responsive block the sheaves needed to be quick. They needed to start moving quickly, with even small amounts of force exerted. In fact, Harken designed his blocks to make it easier to ease sails in the lightest breeze. Accounts of the earliest users of the original Harken blocks all remark on how easily the sails eased: "Beware of the black blocks with the white balls. If you don't duck immediately, the boom's gonna knock your head right off."

Onboard we also have our cat Litza a 3 year old Devon Rex we call her the cattain because cats always decide over their humans. Litza is a Devon Rex cat and she is the real cattain aboard. Ho riparato la pompa a diaframma che alimenta il bagno e la doccia esterna della mia barca Maneki attualmente alla fonda a Los Cristianos (Tenerife). Si era bloccato il cuscinetto (faceva un rumore un po' strano da giorni), per fortuna era saltato solo il fusibile. L'ho smontata, controllato motore e rotore, assemblato la membrana e le valvole e reinstallata in fondo all'armadio della cabina di prua. Un grande lavoro, quasi sempre tra contorsioni a testa in giu', ma sono riuscita a recuperarla.
