The Keadby Lock repair was slowly coming together, and it had begun to operate for about one hour twice a day. Because timing the departure now required the highest degree of accuracy, our tidal calculations for the River Trent were becoming crucial. While we waited for the lock to be repaired, as issue with our canal boat’s fan belt held us back and cocked up our plans... (Dutch Spoken) On the 10th of June 2012, The 35th edition of World's biggest cat race, the Round Texel Race, took place. During the last 35 years, the event was fixed to be held on a Saturday. For this year, the 9th of June. A date that nearly all cat sailors in Holland, and lots of cat sailors around the world, highlighted in their agenda's months befiore. Ojn Friday, heavy airs, rain and massive waves at sea frightended sailors as well as organisers that the weather conditions would not allow - the Round the Island Race - to take place. For the first time in the 35 years' history of the event, the organisers decided to have Sunday as a reserve. During the morning of Sunday, the 10th of June, the sky cleared, and the 35th Round Texel Race took place in most favorable conditions. Carolijn Brouwer, ISAF World Sailor of the Year of 1998, won the event, as well as 1st prize as Mixed team, with crewing partner Wouter Samama..

Ni'ihau is an island off the coast of Kauai. It's amazing topography, abundant marine life, and remote location make this some of the best diving in all the Hawaiian Islands! I enjoyed three incredible dives with Dive Master Anthony and Captain Tom from Fathom Five Divers out of Poipu on Kauai. In a single day we got to dive with Hawaiian Monk Seals, Sandbar Sharks, Grey Sharks, Crown Jellyfish, Fried Egg Nudibranchs, and oh so much more! It's a definite must!
