Lochgoilhead is a village on the Cowal peninsula, in Argyll and Bute. Located within the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, it is considered to be one of the most beautiful areas in Argyll. The moorings and anchorage in Lochgoilhead provides great shelter in stronger winds and offers beautiful views all around. Lochgoilhead has much to offer, aside from beautiful beaches. Within walking distance of the beach, there is the award-winning Drimsynie Estate Holiday Village in Argyll which offers a variety of accomodation as well as plenty of entertainment - restaurants, soft play, game rooms, bars and more. At the head of Loch Goil, within walking distance of the beach, you can explore a pretty woodland where the beautiful Donich Falls are framed by towering conifers and join generations of travellers passing along the old Duke’s Path. A tricky day with a weather front located off Spain’s Costa Calida meant that despite the best efforts of the race committee, only one race could be held on day two of the GC32 Mar Menor Cup before the wind became too unstable and the foiling catamaran teams were sent back to the Club Náutico Lo Pagán. Alinghi took the win in the only race of the day.

Lots of birds on this trip. First time out there and there is a lot of aquatic vegetation. It was a challenge to make it back in time with the daylight savings. My only markers for the entrance to the dock were small sticks with old ribbons on them. Unfortunately these markers were also further south. But with the work I was able to make it back before dark.

Our goal is not to go to a specific place but to reach a state of mind where we can really enjoy life. The sailing in our home water the Baltic Sea is part of our preparation to sail to the Mediterranean Sea. Anders has been at the sea most of his life and sailed for the Swedish national dingy sailing team as a young man. Gitte has also grown up with boat and spent every summer sailing with her father as a teenager but made a pause of about 15 years without sailing as an adult, had just begun to pick-up the interest before she meet Anders a 4 years ago. Onboard we also have our cat Litza a 3 year old Devon Rex we call her the cattain because cats always decide over their humans. Litza is a Devon Rex cat and she is the real cattain aboard. Fridá af Wisby is a Wauquiez 47 pilot saloon that we Gitte and Anders bought in UK in 2019 and that we have sailed to Gotland and in season 1 2020 we sail in the Baltic Sea.

Travel with us as we make our way along the Trollatte Canal in Sweden. The Trollhätte Canal is an 82 km Swedish waterway linking the Göta River to Lake Vänern, opened in 1800 and declared a national monument in 2004. Together with the Göta Canal, it forms a 390 km route known as Sweden’s Blue Ribbon, connecting the North Sea to the Baltic, though the two canals are separate systems. Only 10 km of the Trollhätte Canal is man‑made; the rest follows the Göta Älv riverbed, rising to 44.1 m above sea level at Vänern. The canal includes six locks, notably the Trollhättan lock staircase, and passes key bridges and waterways such as Brinkebergskulle, Lilla Edet, and the approaches toward Gothenburg and the Kattegatt. It remains a vital historic and navigational route through western Sweden.
