Friday, 1 May was a public holiday and the locals flooded the beaches of Qingdao with their tents and families. In certain areas, fencing prohibited people from entering the beach without first scanning and having their temperature checked. But, there were many beachfront areas that were not under any kind of regulations. Many locals were out in large groups without masks and clearly not feeling angst about a second wave of the virus. Perhaps that is because the borders are closed to foreigners and the incoming Chinese nationals are serving their 21-day quarantines at state-run facilities. After three weeks, multiple nasal/throat/anal Covid tests, the government is quite confident that the person released will not be a threat to their family or the community. How long will this last? Natürlich kommt auch Çingene in dem Buch zu Wort. Jedes Kapitel beginnt mit einem kleinen Comic aus der Sicht des Hundes. Und das ist die Geschichte: Schon nach wenigen Wochen als Bordhund hat Çingene bereits weit über 1000 Seemeilen auf ihrem Salzbuckel. Der kleine Trotzkopf schlägt sich wacker als Leichtmatrose. Na gut, die meiste Zeit pennt die türkische Promenadenmischung an Deck und träumt von ihrem Lieblingshobby: Fressen. Am liebsten aus Mülltonnen. Und das hat mit ihrer Vergangenheit zu tun. Çingene war einmal ein Straßenhund, eine Rumtreiberin. Daher kommt auch ihr Name. Politisch korrekt übersetzt müsste sie heute „nach ungarischer Art“ heißen. Aber damals, vor elf Jahren, war ‚Zigeuner‘ noch kein Schmähwort. Das Buch erzählt die wahre Geschichte der kleinen Rumtreiberin, die zum Bordhund wurde, aus zwei Perspektiven. Einerseits als Comic aus der Sicht von Çingene und einmal aus der neutralen Erzählerperspektive. Sie beginnt in ihrer schweren Jugend und endet - natürlich - mit ihrer glanzvollen Karriere auf See. Stuck on the ICW through Georgia, we weren't offered much in terms of novel views. As we crossed the Savannah River into Georgia, we saw more marshland on the ICW, had more bald eagle and dolphin sightings, and we did our best to at least motorsail our way south. We did get to witness the recovery efforts of the capsized Golden Ray cargo ship, a disaster which resulted in more than $200 million in damage, caused by incorrect calculations about the vessel's stability. This version of Episode 59 includes minimal edits to video and audio. This is intended to allow us to roll out more videos weekly in order to encourage greater engagement with our audience, and also to allow us to catch up to current time a bit quicker. In this episode the Assarain IV crew explores a grocery store in Matthew Town, Great Inagua and then begins their Bahamas crew. En route from Inagua (Great Inagua) to the Crooked Islands group (Castle Island), Assarain IV stopped at an isolated unpopulated reef called Hogsty Reef. The water here was crystal clear, and was a great place to see sharks and other marine life. At Castle Island we capture a small lion fish and discuss the harms that are attributed to them. So, season 3 is over. I can hardly believe it and for some reason, this season seemed to have gone by so fast. It's been a season of new challenges, some wanted and some unwanted! However we've come through it more experienced, learning a lot and we're a lot stronger for it.
