In this episode we're back in Langkawi Malaysia and getting ready for a period in the shipyard. This episode has some touring of the island, as well as some projects. Projects include: - Troubleshooting our main electric 3-speed which, which stopped working fully; - Using Deutsch connectors for electrical for the first time; - Integrating a dimmer / variable resistor knob into the Jon Buoy deployment button; - Wiring relays to allow dimming of the centerboard position indicating buttons. Then, joined by our friends from SV Aventure, we take a day to explore the sky bridge and gondola to head up the mountain. John Call started sailing Snipes in the 40's at the Wawasee Yacht Club in northern Indiana. The Snipe was the boat of choice at the club and he started crewing for his dad. Growing up around Snipes John decided to try his hand at building them. During his Snipe building career he built roughly 100 Snipes in 1968-1971. After an ever-growing bottom line cost he wasn't able to turn a profit and decided on a career change to be an architect. John talks about fleets pushing each other to be the best and yet living up to the legendary sportsmanship of the Snipe. That's serious sailing and serious fun.

We caught up with our new Australian Sailing Squad (ASS) Men's 470 crew of Angus Galloway (QLD/QAS) & Joshua Dawson (NSW). Gus & Josh were offered a 2015 ASS membership after successfully completing Australian Sailing's first 470 draft program. In this interview they tell us more about the draft program, their events ahead as well as what it means to be part of the Australian Sailing Squad and to train with 470 World Champions Mat Belcher & Will Ryan. About the 470 Draft: Over Australian summer, Australian Sailing ran a 'Draft Program' for the 470 Men’s class. The purpose of this pilot program was to identify athletes with the potential to develop into Gold Medal winning athletes on the road to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. After a series of camps & regattas four athletes were offered Australian Sailing Squad membership for 2015: Angus Galloway (QLD) & Josh Dawson (NSW) and Tom Klemens (VIC & Tim Hannah (VIC) Australian Sailing is the performance arm of Yachting Australia in partnership with the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) and with support from the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) and the Australian Paralympic Committee (APC). We had the opportunity to do 14 dives in 7 days all over Maui, Molokai, and Molokini. We saw huge jacks, lots of eels (including freckled snake eels and garden eels), nudibranchs, white tip reef sharks, hammerhead sharks, green sea turtles, frog fish, and endless other fish and critters. We enjoyed many shore dives on our own, Lahaina Divers took us over to Molokai, and thoroughly enjoyed Mike Severns diving out of Kihei for the rest of our boat dives. Pauline and her entire team at Mike Severns was incredible! Guaranteed to learn something every dive!
