At just 30 years old, Kyle Langford is an inspiring all-around sailor with a massive amount of high end sailing under his belt. As a kid, he was named Australian Youth Sailor of the Year and won world championship titles at the Tornado Youth Worlds and in the Hobie 16 class at the Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF Worlds. Kyle has kept the momentum growing stronger and stronger and has since won an America’s Cup, lost an America’s Cup, completed the Volvo Ocean Race, earned an RC44 World Title, and won the inaugural SailGP Series – and he raced for several years on the match racing circuit and the Extreme Sailing Series. After months of nonstop work on Ixion, it had felt like boat work broke me. It was time for a break. In that spirit, we decided to visit Fort Phoenix in Fairhaven, MA and get to know the area we had been working in for so long. The boat work could wait. We had been working on the refit for months and had completed several massive projects, and about to begin another one. So, before we dove headfirst into the electric motor conversion, we decided to take a short break and visit a gorgeous bay and fort in Fairhaven, Massachusetts. The fresh air and smell of salt water was something we both needed to rise from the ashes like a phoenix and rejuvenate us before beginning the biggest project yet! In this episode we are stucked in Cuxhaven due to Anders injury but I do some excursions on bike, take a swim in the North Sea and goes on a Seal Safari. We also plan our next passage with the aid of Predict Wind and in the end reenforcement from Denmark arrives. Gitte has also grown up with boat and spent every summer sailing with her father as a teenager but made a pause of about 15 years without sailing as an adult, had just begun to pick-up the interest before she meet Anders a 4 years ago. Onboard we also have our cat Litza a 3 year old Devon Rex we call her the cattain because cats always decide over their humans. Litza is a Devon Rex cat and she is the real cattain aboard. Fridá af Wisby is a Wauquiez 47 pilot saloon that we Gitte and Anders bought in UK in 2019 and that we have sailed to Gotland and in season 1 2020 we sail in the Baltic Sea.

Bei jedem Skipper*innentraining geht jemand über Bord, in diesem Fall ein Mann, Felix. Eine Person aus dem Wasser zurück an Bord zu holen ist nicht leicht, es wird aber leichter, wenn du es trainierst, wie hier beim Skippertraining. Bei jedem Wetter die Person immer kontrolliert unter Maschine, gegen den Wind, ansteuern. Unter Segeln gehört dabei die Genua eingerollt und das Groß dichtgeknallt. Natürlich gibt es unendlich viele technische Hilfsmittel. Viele haben wir getestet und uns entschieden, es mit einfachsten Mitteln zu trainieren, die sind überall an Bord. Ja ich weiß, die ewigen "Nörgler" finden diese Art von Training sinnlos, aber wen interessiert das? Wir haben es schon mal gemacht, kennen die Abläufe, auch wenn das bei Bft. 6 eine andere Nummer ist. Los geht's, im Oktober gibt's noch freie Plätze beim Skippertraining.

Pete and Eve were kindly invited by Filipe Rodrigues on his Jod35 to join the crew, Maria Rodrigues, Francisco Bettencourt and Cassiano Ribeiro, for the Angra Bay Cup 2025 with 43 boats and over 200 sailors. Thanks to Filipe we had a perfectly well prepared boat. It was a great exercise to keep our racing skills in trim. The conditions were difficult with big wind holes and shifts, we had to sail with our heads out of the boat constantly. Die iShares Cup Extreme 40 Sailing Serie ist eine Segelstrecke in mehreren Etappen mit sehenswerten Anlaufpunkten in Europa — jeder davon bekannt für erstklassiges Segeln, herausragende Treffpunkte für Zuschauer und atemberaubende Schauplätze. Die 40-Fuß-Katamarane der Extreme-40-Series werden wieder Zehntausende von Menschen an die Kieler Förde locken, wenn der iShares Cup 2009 in Kiel Station macht. In diesem Jahr geht erstmals eine deutsche Crew im Boot vom WIRSOL TEAM GERMANY KIEL.SAILING CITY an den Start. Für das WIRSOL TEAM GERMANY KIEL.SAILING CITY wurde eine junge All-Star-Mannschaft mit den besten Multihull-Seglern Deutschlands verpflichtet. Skipper ist Roland Gäbler, der auf zahlreiche Erfolge bei Olympischen Spielen, Welt- und Europameisterschaften zurückblickt. Das Steuer übernimmt der 24 Jahre junge Tino Mittelmeier, der bereits Junioren-Welt- und Junioren-Europameister-Titel erkämpfte und der jüngste Steuermann der iShares-Serie ist. Nico Mittelmeier (27 Jahre) und Gunnar Struckmann (27 Jahre) komplettieren das junge deutsche Team. Der iShares-Cup der Extreme-40-Katamare ist eine internationale Segelregatta, die in diesem Jahr zum dritten Mal stattfindet. Nach Venedig, Hyères und Cowes wird das beeindruckende Schauspiel bereits zum zweiten Mal in der schleswig-holsteinischen Landeshauptstadt Station machen, die Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmer im vergangenen Jahr mit ihren Bedingungen begeisterte und von Extreme-40-Steuerfrau Shirley Robertson als „beste Etappe 2008 gelobt wurde.
