Unable to return to our home country, we are forced to put plans in motion to have our child abroad. We leave the boat and off to the foreign hospital we go! https://www.sailingnandji.com In this episode, with Nandji on the hardstand and not ready to be launched, we need to pack her up and move closer to the hospital. Bonita is now 9 months pregnant and the baby could come any day. With the hospital a 3 hour drive away, we move overland to the city of Penang. Due to Australia's tough and expensive restrictions and the fact it being near impossible to get a flight into the the country, we have had to think how and where we are going to have our baby. With great health care in the city of Penang, Malaysia, we decided this would be our place. Away from friends and family and alone in this new city, times can be difficult. With our Sailing plans changing, we returned to Thailand to wait for the weather and begin our journey to the northern route of the Indian Ocean to Sri Lanka before heading south across the Indian Ocean once cyclone season has finished and the trade winds begin! We were on our shake down sail when the mooring we were on failed and our home ended up on the reef... We saved the old girl and got her back to the boat yard for repairs to continue on our adventure! Ready to sail across the Indian Ocean, we were only days away from leaving when the pandemic begun closing countries around us... We are stuck for now, but enjoying the slower pace as we have just had our first baby, born in Malaysia! Fitzroy Reef makes up part of the Souther Great Barrier Reef. The lagoon oasis is roughly 40 nautical miles from land, in the middle of the ocean. There is a skinny natural entrance into the lagoon, via a tiny channel in the coral. Once inside Fitzroy Reef, the lagoon is calm and protected from the open ocean swell and wind. The depth is shallow enough to anchor and you are protected from the elements. An amazing place that blew us away. Flying Our NEW A-Symmetrical Spinnaker for the FIRST time! It looks like a Unicorn farted! https://www.sailingnandji.com/ In this episode of Sailing Nandji, our boat yard days are behind us and Nandji is launched back into the drink. At this time of the year, we still had massive sailing plans for 2020. With majority of the boat work completed, we took a few days to relax at the nearest islands before we made our way from Krabi province, Thailand across Phang Na bay to Phuket. We had been waiting for this day for a while as the forecast was light breezes and dead down wind. Perfect weather to raise our first sail for the year, what better way to do it than with our NEW spinnaker! We asked Aaron from Kore sails to make it colourful and with Bonita in charge of colour schemes, He did not disappoint! To quote Bonita "It looks like a Unicorn Farted!" What better name for our new sail than Unicorn Fart! The future was looking bright and the Froth levels were high in this one! YEW!
