This stunning old town which we couldn't access, was perched on the end of the breakwall that had a walking track over the headland. Family friendly with parks, restaurants along the shore line and beautiful red pebbled beaches. The kids made friends with a local boy which helped fill their cups, and ease the home-sickness. I've got my new vacuum cleaner so I put it through it's paces and did a bit of a review for you. For those of you without boats who may have wondered if you can run a vacuum at all, the answer is yes! Being in a marina with a shoreline (a hook-up to the mains, like a caravan), you can run any vacuum, plugging it directly into the 3-pin sockets on the boat. However, I want to run a vacuum off-grid so I've got a cordless, handheld vacuum. This has a battery that takes mains charge to charge it up, but you could do this from a portable battery pack like a Jackery, or whilst the engine or generator are running. I can clean my whole boat a couple of times before I need to recharge the battery, and it takes a couple of hours to charge up. Also this week, I met a subscriber! And the channel reaches a milestone! Have a great week :)

Patrick joins as crew. We abandon plans to sail to the northern Channel Islands due to an issue with the windlass motor. Our plan B sets us on course back to Avalon to pick up a mooring. There is a small craft advisory, but conditions are mild. We encountered light rain on the way to the island. We are fully provisioned for a week of cruising. Where next??
