@the_reeva_project Our sailing adventures always seem to come with a bit of drama—just to keep things interesting! On our last night sail, we had to deal with a choked head (not fun at all!), which meant an all-nighter of troubleshooting and fixing. Luckily, we got it working just in time and made it safely to Port Takola. After celebrating the holidays with family and friends, we took a few days to relax at Port Takola Marina, Krabi—reorganizing and preparing for our next big journey. It's a new year, and we have new plans for Reeva and ourselves. But before we set off, we need to make sure Reeva is ready for the adventures ahead. We set sail from Krabi River to Satun, South Thailand, where Reeva will be hauled out and prepped for some serious long-haul sailing. Exciting times ahead—stay tuned! Tuesday, 11th March, the ORCV along with KISS ALIVE, Melbourne -Osaka Cup and Royal Brighton Yacht Club hosted an unforgettable night celebrating International Women’s Day 2025. The event, featuring the intrepid female mother-daughter sailing duo, Annette and Sophie from Fika, skillfully moderated by Liberator sailor Kate Hyde, drew a packed house of approximately 200 attendees, creating an electrifying atmosphere. As Fika prepares to set sail again this Sunday, March 16th, Annette reflected on her previous Osaka race with a touch of humor and wisdom: "It's a very long way to Japan in a very small boat." Despite the challenges, the duo exudes confidence in their abilities and graciously acknowledged the unwavering support of their partners, Gerry and Simon, who have been instrumental in their preparations and ongoing inspiration. The evening not only celebrated these remarkable women but also raised over $1,500 to support women in sailing, underlining the event's commitment to #accelerateaction for gender equality in the sport. The ORCV has brought the KISS introductory women’s keelboat training under their Training KISS becomes ALIVE in 2025, a strategic platform to connect all Victorian female keelboat sailors through a central hub for collaboration and event promotion so you never miss an event or opportunity to be active, inspired and connected. There has never been a better time to get onboard to #accelerateaction! To keep up to date with all opportunities visit the KISS ALIVE page.

SUPPORT OUT REFIT: help us finish our projects and continue making these videos for you at www.red-seas.com/refit We are upgrading our solar panels on our Leopard catamaran so that we are fully set up to live off grid in some of the most remote islands in the South Pacific. We live full time on our sailboat and we very rarely visit a marina or tie up to a dock so we need to have enough power to keep all our systems running and we think this project is exactly what we need! We have been living for the last 5 years with 1400W of flexible panels (8x175W) on our hardtop and a further 800W of rigid panels (4x200W) above our dinghy but now we're removing all of these and replacing them with something newer and more powerful. The flexible panels have lasted well but we have noticed that 3 panels have failed within in the last 6 months and we can only assume that the others don't have much life left in them either. We will be installing 2x625W panels on our hardtop which will give us almost as much power as we had there before, but in a much smaller space. And then we're going to add 4x695W panels above our dinghy, giving us a huge capacity.....and they're bifacial so we can add another 15% or so on top of that with the reflections from the water. We'll monitor our usage when we get back in the water and see how efficient the bifacial panels are, and how true these claims of reflective capacity are. But for now, we're excited to have that much more power to fill our new 1200Ah of (semi) solid state lithium batteries. Howdy folks! Welcome back to Nomad Boat Building. My name is Mark Reuten, and this video is part of the Poulsbo Boat Project, where I’m documenting the complete build of a modern Poulsbo Boat from start to finish. Back in the shop after a long delay, I finally get back to work on the Poulsbo Boat Project. In this episode I set up the station molds on the strongback, align the building jig, and start fitting the backbone components. I also run into a frustrating issue: the transom shape isn’t agreeing with the mold the way it should. Rather than ignore the problem, I walk through how I diagnose fit issues, rethink the geometry, and make practical adjustments so the finished hull will look right. Along the way, I reshape the hawse holes, refine the transom, and talk a bit about the reality of wooden boat building: technical problem solving mixed with a whole lot of hard graft. The Poulsbo Boat is being built using traditional wooden boat building techniques combined with practical modern methods where appropriate. Throughout this series you'll see the full process including lofting, milling lumber, laminating structural parts, strip planking, fiberglassing, interior joinery, and final fit-out. If you're interested in woodworking, traditional craftsmanship, wooden boats, and real boat shop problem solving, this series follows the entire build step-by-step. This is one of the toughest videos we've made in a long time - at the end of our 3-month catamaran refit, we were so ready to get back in the water but when we launched our boat last week, we discovered that one of the thru hulls we had replaced was leaking. It took a huge effort to lift the boat out of the water again and fix it, but we weren't prepared for what happened when we launched the second time. It's an emotionally charged week, with a lot going on, but we're so glad you're here to live it alongside us. In this video, I'm going to drive with the screen upside down! That should be very interesting! Fails confirmed! :P So, this will be a new series if this does get enough support. How this works is that you can send me an idea of what I should do for challenge on F1 games.

slipped out of work early to test the chase cam. need to lengthen the camera suspension line to get myself in the picture. going to try deploying camera after launch next time. first test is promising. thermaled over trash mt for a while and had a nice 25min flight into the sunset.
We have used Minwax Spar urethane for years now inside our boats and wanted to try a true varnish on the exterior. This is a test on a small section of the toe rail and some miscellaneous cuteness from the little swab. We are very blessed to have Justin as apart of our family. Justin loves running Track and Cross country and most of all trains... This week we prepared for Tropical Storm Gordon. Well, I say this week, but I should reference that it is "This week" as in this is the week the video is done editing, but the storm was the first of September. I discuss the challenges with side tie storm preparation as well as the risk of rising tides. You can also see how we settled for an alternative tie-up that improved our changes or lessening the damage. Additionally, we talk about some more work on the boat. A Gooseneck locking mechanism for the mizzenmast as well as starting to paint the bilge white. I remember stating I would never paint the bilge white because I didn't' own a showboat. Well the jokes on me, White is so much brighter and makes it so much easier to identify or see any drips or spills down there as well.
