My first solo sail with all sails from Falmouth to Nare Head and back to Turnaware Bar. After a night with mates on the beach, I returned to Pendennis Marina to find that the state of the Country had changed. As a result, I shall now not being sailing around the UK, instead I shall be hiding up the creeks for a few weeks. Therefore, this may be the last video until I have power and internet, but I shall try and keep posting so that people can experience the outdoors through my posts. Stay safe, keep well and I hope that you continue to enjoy.

Dawn on the morning of the 7th of May saw 108 boats all over the country greeting the sunrise as part of Darkness into Light, Pieta’s annual fundraising campaign to raise vital funds for people affected by suicide and self harm. On the water were a mix of dinghies, cruisers and ribs, joined by paddleboarders and rowers, to see a spectacular sunrise with 9 clubs taking part: Bantry Bay SC, Bray SC, Blessington SC, Galway City SC, Galway Bay SC, Galway Hooker SC, Howth YC, Royal Irish YC and Royal St George YC. Built by Camper & Nicholson to one of the finest designs of Charles E. Nicholson; this yacht originally named SYLVANA was launched in 1910. When commissioned, Nicholson had clearly won over the wealthy yachtsmen of the period to his designs that by then were regularly beating those of Watson, Fife and Herreshoff on the race course. Now ORION OF THE SEAS; she was completely rebuilt 2003-2005 with a total focus on keeping the original detail where possible but where modern systems were installed; then most discreetly and with effective sound insulation.
