Hamerhaaien zwermen er op meerdere dive sites in ontelbare aantallen door elkaar, en komen nieuwsgierig tot binnen handbereik. Witpunt en zwartpunt rifhaaien liggen er op de bodem rustig te wachten tot het tijd is om op jacht te gaan. Marble Rays botsen niet zelden tegen duikers aan. Walvishaaien worden er soms waargenomen in de nabijheid van een school van duizenden Jacks. Ze gebruiken de Jacks als camouflage. Eagle Rays verblijven hier in groepen van 5 of meer. Tot de andere bewoners van de wateren rond Cocos Island mogen tenslotte nog gerekend worden: silky sharks, mantas, tonijn, en enorme scholen snappers.

All of our friends left so we need to figure out how to show the kids a good time. Between circus school, a zoo, roller skating, zip lining and horseback riding we were successful!. But sadly the fun has to end and we have to face the very intimidating Mona Passage. This passage between Dominican and Puerto Rico is one of the most difficult passages in the Caribbean. The Puerto Rican trench is the 2nd deepest trench in the world, in excess of 27,000 feet. They have 600 ft deep areas that are considered shoals that need to be avoided. The equatorial current pushes a lot of water through here doing some crazy things to the sea. Recently , about fifty people had the pleasure of sailing onboard the catamarans of several Nautitech owners in the beautiful Bassin d'Arcachon in France. ON THE PROGRAM OF THIS DAY : In the morning, the skippers started the journey, sailing to the Banc de la Vigne. It is at anchor that the crews took the time to swim, to exchange and to share this so privileged moment. Then everyone has been invited for a convivial lunch in an oyster hut in the Village du Canon. After Lunch, the catamarans raced under the beautiful sun direction the Banc d'Arguin. To close this exceptionnal day, all the participants met for a friendly evening at our partner's AC Yachting. The program was a cocktail dinner with entertainment and award ceremonies for participants. We’re Chris and Jo and we have been living on our Seawind 1260 since January 2019. In our first year we bring our yacht down the east coast of Australia and sail it out to New Caledonia. After cruising further north up the east coast of Australia in 2020, we decide to circumnavigate Australia during 2021 and 2022. We had previously owned fishing and water skiing boats, but after a couple years crewing in South Australia we decided to jump right in and make a sea change. We are just an ordinary Aussie couple exploring what this great world has to offer and hope that we can inspire others just as we were by watching other YouTube channels to follow our dreams. London Corinthian Sailing Club RYA Sea Survival as part of their World Sailing Offshore Survival. RYA/World Sailing Offshore Personal Survival Course at Tiller Leisure Centre Previously Called RYA/ISAF Offshore Course, ISAF Offshore Safety Course, or the ISAF Offshore Race Crew Course. This training is a requirement for many offshore races including the ARC Race, RORC Fastnet, RORC Round Britain, and Ireland, RORC Trans Atlantic Race, and Sydney Hobart RORC Round Ireland Race. This training covers the training required by World Sailing Offshore Special Regulations (OSR) 6.01 and the topics listed in OSR 6.02 for category 0, 1 & 2 races (and category 3 if racing double-handed).
