Uncertainty continued about the weather for day two of the RC44 Porto Cervo Cup, hosted by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda. In the event, competitors used most of their sails as, after a light to moderate start, the wind kicked in close to the class’ maximum limit and there were several significant shifts. Thanks to all this, there was plenty of excitement and many many lead changes, but it also proved a high scoring day for the nine RC44s. The RC44 Porto Cervo Cup is the second event of the 2017 RC44 Championship Tour, which pits the world's top businessmen and the best sailors in the industry compete in high-performance one-design 44-foot carbon racing yachts. Sometimes you take one step forward and two steps back. This week I learned a big lesson on sailboat maintenance, as to what happens when they clean the bottom of your boat while your marine air conditioner is running. It makes for a one big mess. Checkout what we had to do to deal with this issue and how you can help prevent it and keep you internal raw water lines clean. The good news is that since I am the one doing the refit on Reverie, I know how everything is connected and how it works, so it makes it a little easier when you have to deal with an issue. After visiting Tangier Island, we were due for some much needed provisioning and laundry, so we headed into Crisfield, MD. There, we stayed at Somers Cove Marina for a couple nights and borrowed their bikes to ride to the grocery and liquor store. After Crisfield, we headed 82 nautical miles north on the bay to Oxford, MD where we found a great anchorage to spend a few days. Mai 2023 - wir haben das Bett in der Vorschiffskabine vergrößert, so dass wir mit den Köpfen zum Bug schlafen können, die Cockpitpolster und Saloon Polster erneuert, eine Funkfernbedienung an die Ankerwinsch gelegt, dimmbare Deckenleuchten installiert, USB-Anschlüsse verlegt und allerlei andere Verschönerungen vorgenommen. Mittlerer Weile tauschten wir auch den Druck-Knopf in für das Dusch-Abwasser aus, damit man ihn nicht permanent drücken muss ... wie nervig. Alles selbst gemacht und ohne große "Fachkenntnisse" Bett vergrößert ab Minute: 2:19 Furtuna wird von einer Charteryacht zu UNSERER ;) Es folgen 5 weitere Wochen im Ionischen Meer, bevor wir um den Peleponnes segeln. Ligurien, Provence und Costa Brava sowie die Algarve, um nur einige zu nennen; unterwegs unzählige attraktive Landschaften und Kleinstädte ebenso wie die Großstädte Genua, Monte Carlo, Marseille, Barcelona oder Gibraltar. If everything works out, a long-held dream will become reality..., an autumn-trip from north to south through all of Europe to the Canary Islands! Of the various route options, we prefer the Mediterranean route, especially since it offers an enormous number of highly attractive destinations, e.g. Liguria, Provence and Costa Brava as well as the Algarve, to name just a few, countless attractive small towns and villages, as well as the big cities Genoa, Monte Carlo, Marseille, Barcelona or Gibraltar. In kleinen Etappen und ohne Reiseführer und Hotelbuchungen wollen wir - offen fahrend - möglichst viele neue Entdeckungen machen, dabei auch größere Umwege in Kauf nehmend. Ansonsten setzen auf unser sprichwörtliches Wetter-Glück und unsere guten Beziehungen zu „Rasmus“. Außerdem bauen wir drauf,, dass unser „Youngster“ mit seinen zarten 24 Jahren keine nennenswerten Schwächen zeigt. In small stages and without travel guides and hotel bookings, we want to make as many new discoveries as possible - traveling openly - while also taking major detours into account. Otherwise, we rely on our proverbial luck with the weather and our good relationships with “Rasmus”. We are also relying on the fact that our “youngster”, at just 24 years old, does not show any significant weaknesses. Specializing in motoryacht and sportfishing yacht sales, Russ is the third generation in his family to be in the boat building/boat sales industry. “I was raised in a true fishing family and was fishing tournaments at 10 years of age. Boating is in my blood, mixed with a little bit of Atlantic saltwater." There Russ learned a great deal about the yachting industry in the family business, Fishermans Paradise, by selling electronics, engines and of course, boats. "My idea of success is enjoying what one does for a living, and I really enjoy selling yachts.” This attitude, combined with his knowledge of yachts and seamanship, as well as a family history of yachting has led to Russell’s success today. Russ' key to success is listening to his client and putting the client’s interests first and foremost. He finds a great deal of satisfaction in doing the footwork and researching the current yacht market in order to find the best fit for his client in yacht design and features, as well as in negotiating the best price possible.

Nicolas Rolaz, formerly an Optimist World Champion, the youngest member of Alinghi Red Bull Racing’s sailing team and a member of the ‘Power Group’ was interviewed after their day on the water and explained: “Today was a day for systems checks. The fine tuning took a bit longer than expected, a bit of sailing and then back to base. We’re not focussed on the conditions; we’re just trying to learn the boat as much as possible.” Section 41. Reconnaissance a) As a campaign cost reduction measure, COR/D has mutually agreed to cooperatively implement a centralised reconnaissance programme for all teams for the reconnaissance of all Competitors’ AC75 Yachts, AC40 Yachts and LEQ12 yachts including both on-land and on-water imagery (the “Joint Recon Programme”). b) Each team is assigned a two-person Recon Unit to follow their every on-water move, but it's not that simple. The cameras are supplied and identical for all Recon Units. Drones are not allowed, and they can't get that close, plus following a boat and keeping a camera steady at 45 knots isn't that easy to begin with. c) A three minute interview follows each on water day, and teams must answer the Recon Unit's questions while trying not to give too much away.
