Hardstand Boat Life is Hard It's A Hard Life On The Hardstand. Hardstand Time! We haul DT out of the water at Norsand Boatyard in Whangarei and begin a week of boat jobs. Some tasks are annual maintenance and some are in preparation for our upcoming passage to Tonga. Our antifoul will survive another few months, but that doesn't mean we get to relax! Engine service, prop and sail drive antifoul, some new stainless steel bits and pieces, anchor chain maintenance and lots of new supplies and toys delivered. A busy, but very productive week. This is the beginning of our journey. Following the advice of many that came before me, we have adjusted our dream so instead of waiting to buy a catamaran, we have decided to buy a smaller monohull #sailboat and get going with our own adventure. Life is very short and after everything we have see with Covid-19, we prefer to take our chances at sea enjoying our life than risking not been able to fulfill our dreams. We purchased this 1985 Pearson 34 Sailboat. It has good bones but it needs a lot of #restoration . This is the video of the day we bought our #boat We purchased her for $1000. It was full of household appliances that have no place on a boat, so we have a lot of clean up ahead of us. As we are on the second have of our life's adventure, we have to do a good job balancing what we can do vs what we should have someone do. So as much as I would like to do the whole refit myself, we will be looking at each project to see how to best execute the refit to balance time and money spend to get us out cruising as quickly as possible. På grunn av reglene som har vært, har vi lenge bare seilt i indre Oslofjord. Heldigvis er det ikke like strengt lenger, så på 17. mai inviterte vi litt folk og helga etter seilte vi lenger enn noen gang før. Vi så havet!

The perks of living aboard at a marina is enjoying gloriously beautiful daybreak almost every morning. It is always so serene in the morning. Having a good breakfast while enjoying the view is just icing on the cake.

We hit the water again with ScubaTech, based in Prickley Bay, Grenada. Today Mark from Sailing Catamaran MANA was with us as well. Both Kate and Mark were doing their final dives for their advanced certification. The MV Shakem sits in about 100 feet of water. She is 108 feet long. Sinking in 2001 off of St. George, Grenada, the cargo shop was carrying a heavy load of cement from Trinidad. She was rolling in heavy seas in rough weather, taking on water over the gunwales due to the amount of weight she was carrying. Visibility was not as good as our previous dives, but still was satisfactory for the overcast day we had. There was quite a bit of surface current but less at depth. We all had a great time out on this scuba dive and would encourage others to check out Grenada’s many ship wrecks. Evelin did a phenomenal job leading the dive, and Curtis’ precision boat driving put us right on the boat in the tricky current. Both of them are sailors as well. A prova definiu os vencedores do evento e trouxe muita emoção para as águas da ilha que é a capital da modalidade. Port Ginesta Marina Castelldefels Barcelona Spain If you are looking for a great place to keep your boat in the Mediterranean then this is it! We have Marina berths available in Port Ginesta, so if you're looking for a place to keep your boat, come and talk to us. You can be assured of a warm welcome in our office. Located only a few miles southwest of Barcelona, it’s a busy Marina and has been our base for several years. Two superb beaches lie on either side of the Port. One is the go-to place for locals and tourists stretching ten uninterrupted kilometres from Barcelona International Airport. Port Ginesta Marina has plenty to offer boat owners looking for a base that has every marine-related service available, also enjoying quick and easy access by road, rail, sea and air. Port Genista is next to the town of Castelldefels. It is far enough away from the bustling city centre of Barcelona to offer seclusion when needed, as it also has great connections with nature in the adjoining national parks. It's no wonder Castelldefels, and Port Ginesta have become the base for some famous sports celebrities, who demand fast access to boating, and outdoor space when their busy lives allow a little private chill time. The Marina is divided into two, half caters for smaller sports cruisers and yachts, whereas the other half is dedicated to yachts above 12 meters. Renting a jet ski appears to be a favoured pastime for many visitors who want fast action on the water. The boatyard facilities at Port Ginesta are second to none. The yard has an open work policy, this allows boat owners free yard access to maintain boats. Skills are on hand to help if needed for virtually any size of boat or restoration project. Network Yacht Brokers can coordinate and offer advice in all aspects of boat maintenance, including new boat commissioning. Our clients enjoy a free postal drop off service point in the Marina. This postal service helps when clients internet buying. Long- and short-term hard standing is available from both within and just outside the boatyard. A small sports boat crane is situated next to the main travel lift dock where a special catamaran ramp and lift was installed during 2021. Port Ginesta is one of only a few yards along the Spanish coast to offer a facility to lift catamarans out of the water without the risk of stressing a hull. The main Marina building is where you'll find advice for some boat-related services. Behind the Marina, the building is a conveniently placed launderette and one of a few shower and toilet facilities for berth holders. A manned serviced fuel pontoon has more than enough capacity to accommodate visiting boats and yachts of any size. A conveniently placed cash machine behind the fuel pontoon and at the Marina entrance function around the clock. When it's time to relax, take your pick from one of many excellent restaurants based in the Marina, I've included images of our favourites, but there are lots of restaurants to choose from. If you're looking to provision your boat, there is now a well-stocked supermarket within the Marina complex. Venture outside the Marina into Castelldefels town and you'll find no-end of entertainment, great bars and restaurants are just a short distance from the Marina entrance. My recommendation is to spend time in Castelldefels pedestrianised town centre, which is just a little further back from the main tourist strip known as Castelldefels Playa. I arrive nice and early to take advantage of a whole day's sailing and in the first of a series of videos today, we come off the mooring for the first time using the outboard. We then take a nice leisurely beat, tacking into and out of fair and foul winds until we anchor at Bala camping bay! A nice little sail, perfect for getting used to Lulu and how she handles. I must say she seems to want a bit more wind and I think she's a cheekier boat than her brand has her down as!!
