After 7 years dreaming we FINALLY arrive in the Caribbean with our own sailboat!! We are Duca and Roberta, a Brazilian couple that during a sabbatical trip in 2016 decided to follow our dream. So, we created "Odd Life Crafting", a project composed of many smaller projects that we call seasons. The first one was the creation of Odd Life Crafting. The idea was to build a metal boat to be able to travel the world taking our house with us, but we didn't have money for that. So, we started the next season: we built a tiny shipping container house with no prior experience in building to gain some skills to build a boat. When we were almost finished we found a boat 700km away from our hometown that was neglected for over 22 years and we spent 2 years refitting her (Season 3). The last season has been a dream coming true… we are exploring the Brazilian coast with OUR BOAT that we called Odd.. But wait? What happened to the house? Check out our website to know more about it https://www.oddlifecrafting.com/blog We hope to inspire others to follow their dreams. Safe sailing. Boat: White Shadow is a Van De Stadt ‘Seal’ 36 (11 metres). She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Panasonic Hc- V700 with a Rode External mic with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Action, underwater scenes and small blogging is done with two Osmo action cams. Some boat shots are done with a Dji gimbal camera. Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over a day. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. Much time is spent sorting out technical problems. In this case I normally get the help of a younger person who understands computerie stuff! There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. Content: I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘bland and mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. Comments and being at sea: I love reading your comments. Most weeks Im able to read everyone. I cant reply to everybody but I do read and enjoy them. Keep them coming! There are times that It might seem I'm not on the internet for certain periods, this is normally when Im at sea on passage. While Im out on the Ocean I have completely no communications with the outside World. Click here... http://www.patreon.com/Nandji In this episode of Sailing Nandji, We adventure further south into the worlds largest lagoon. Island hopping through this paradise from Ilot Uatio to Ilot Kouare. We head out to the fringing reef and try to find a new surf spot. With no luck, we return to our island paradise and go diving with a pod of dolphins. Then hoisting some sails once more, we leave the lagoon and sail 50nm to Ilse de Pins. It turns out the day was a shocker and was rained non stop all day, but we had some amazing encounters along the way. Whales breaching close by and following Nandji along then we were greeted with the biggest pod of dolphins we have ever seen. Thousands and thousands of dolphins all playing, surfing the bow and doing flips and all sorts around the boat. An amazing experience to watch these creatures enjoy our company. Dolphins are the king of froth! WINDVANE If you would like to help Nandji get a windvane, you can make a contribution through paypal, click the link below! Skillshare are offering a free 2 month subscription for people who use the following link. https://skl.sh/sailingnandji Memberships are roughly 10 bucks a month after that! Enjoy! In this episode of Sailing Nandji, there are problems in paradise on board Nandji. We begin with an accident in the kitchen leaving Yosh severely injured. With new crew arriving to Nandji in a weeks time, we head into the city of Padang, West Sumatra to heal and organizing everything for the coming couple of weeks with people on board. We rush around the city getting food, fuel and water. All the essentials. On top of extending our visas which ends up taking a week, we are trying to import a life raft ready for our future crossing and then we have our hard drive. This important little piece of technology has stored on it all our content from the last 2 months!!! It is very important this thing works again! This is for sure a creators worst nightmare! With so much drama going on and all the stress involved with these activities, we make it to the airport in time to pick up our guests, take them to the shops and then head out to sea under the full moon. These green horn sailors are put to the test early as what begun as a nice smooth sail, soon turned into an upwind, stormy, rough and wet sail. At least the fish are biting right? With no sailing experience, we bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off sailing to the Pacific! We have since cruised through Vanuatu, the Solomon islands, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and then onto the boat yard in Malaysia to prepare for the years to come. With a new engine, we continued onto Thailand, then into Indonesia and specifically West Sumatra where we are living the island life and chasing the surf before our big crossing! We departed Australia in July 2017 and have since explored some amazing countries, met some beautiful people and experienced so many different and diverse cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of nowhere, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our life doing it! The adventure is just beginning as we sail West with the trades around the World! Enjoy and Ahoy, Nike & Karl and the UTL team Visit http://www.whitespotpirates.com for more info about KARL, the journey or people I met during my trip. --- This is NOT a live documentary! There is a time difference between filming and publishing due to the time it takes to send data home, to edit the episodes and to internet not always being awailable on those little remote palm tree islands :). We reluctantly leave the beautiful San Blas Islands heading West. Past the Panama canal this time, we're not going though just yet, then on to some really surprising anchorages. Coming into the first one in Linton we see some very strange futuristic, solar powered, constructions out to sea so have to go and investigate, what we find is even more surprising than we imagined. We finish in Bocas del Toro a place that has been recommended to us even more than the San Blas Islands, Panama is an amazing place! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ PLEASE DO SUBSCRIBE - IT COSTS YOU NOTHING AND HELPS US OUT WITH THE YOUTUBE ALGORITHM ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PATREON: We couldn't make these videos without the support of you, our patrons. #goingbackwards #greatdecision We made the first attempt to cross to Italy, but the weather was terrible and we had to go back to Pilos. So we decided to go up to Corfu to get better winds and cross from Othonoi to Leuca, successfully this time with great winds to take us all the way to Italy. Changing flags on the way putting up the Italian flag we arrive at our first port, Leuca. It would not have been the same without you. This episode was filmed in 01 / 2021. — Welcome to Untie The Lines! my name is Nike, I bought an aluminum 37 foot sailboat in Panama in 2013 that I named KARL. I spent a good year refitting it, mostly by myself and with the help of awesome friends, and then (mostly) solo sailed my sailboat around the western Caribbean. In 2016, I crossed the Panama Canal, had a major engine break down, a near sinking experience and a serious foot injury which got me stuck along the Pacific coast of Central and South America. In this Episode, The New Year starts with a hull clean and some sail repair to get ready for the first solo sail of 2021. Enjoy and Ahoy, Nike & Karl
Bringing Yabá from wreck to dreamy! Episode 178 In this episode of our boat restoration, we finally start installing our first bilge pumps! Not just adding them into place, but actually connecting them electrically to our control panel. Besides, we also work on thru-hulls for the ensuite head and on caulking our keel. 👉 SUBSCRIBE to not miss out on the new episodes: https://bit.ly/3dI3hBn YOU CAN SUPPORT OUR PROJECT: 👉 By becoming a patron - join to unlock exclusive content: https://www.patreon.com/sailingyaba 👉 Through Paypal donations: https://bit.ly/3kR4Ezo or sailingyaba@gmail.com 👉 By wearing our products: https://shopsailingyaba.com/ 👉 GET OUR FAVORITE TOOLS: https://www.amazon.com/shop/sailingyaba We are forever grateful to everyone that is living our dream with us ♥️ 🇧🇷 Legendas em Português em todos os episódios! 🇪🇸 Subtítulos en español en todos los episodios! 💙 Who are we? We are Ben and MP! Recently we decided to purchase a two-masted wooden schooner in Brazil. The fun detail about our story is that the boat we bought was sinking and relying on many bilge pumps to survive so we had to lift it onto the dry to start a full refit. Once the boat was lifted (for the first time in her life) we realized that the work needed was much more than expected. Between bailing or accepting the challenge, we decided to go for the second option. Watch us as we bring Yabá back to life with the help of an amazing team of traditional shipwrights, sharing every phase of the process, overcoming the highs and lows and having fun along the way. Just got our brand new cushions for the boat and thought now would be a great time to do a quick tour of our Catalina 30 sailboat. I’ve spent three years onboard the Jacq Daniel’s and my fiancé Rona has been with me on the boat for four months now and has completely transformed the inside. In this episode of ON THE DOCKS I let her take the lead as she explains all that she has done to make our Catalina clean, homey, and organized. Nothing is worse than a cluttered boat and Rona, who has over a decade of experience as a stewardess on private mega yachts, is the master of eliminating clutter and the queen of organization. Thanks for watching everyone! I will do some videos getting into the details of how the boat is organized and how we utilized our storage spaces in the boat. If you have any questions please let me know and I would be happy to answer them! See you guys next time, ON THE DOCKS!

Safe sailing. Twitter https://twitter.com/barryperrins Facebook https://www.facebook.com/adventuresofanoldseadog/ Boat: White Shadow is a Van De Stadt ‘Seal’ 36 (11 metres). She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Panasonic Hc-v700. Most shots are done with an external mic (Shenggu sg 108) with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Action stuff and small blogging is done with a Sony Hdr-as30v. Underwater video Gopro3plus. My aim is to avoid ‘blar bar mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. They’re super polarized, block all light coming in from the sides, and they stay on my face –– plus I think they’ve got a very cool retro style. http://tulasendlesssummer.com/shop-tula/ One of the most difficult boat jobs I think I have ever encountered was trying to hold the nuts on the inside of our "pin" plates. It was super tight in there, hot, and I couldn't reach my arm though so I had to tape wrenches to poles to reach. Also, drilling through thick SS with a hand drill isn't easy. Also, digging holes for the rudders through the packed gravel wasn't easy. Also, getting those compression tubes upright and to the center of the beam wasn't super easy either. Although, that went smoother than I thought. Anyway, here are some tough boat yard jobs that we've been working on for the past couple weeks. Use code ATTICUS at the link below and get 60% off an annual plan: http://incogni.com/atticus My family and I are moving to the Appalachian mountains and for the past two months we’ve been on a road trip to figure out exactly where in these mountains we want to live. Last week we got to explore Bryson City NC and it quickly became our favorite mountain town so far. Now we’re looking to buy a fairly large property where we can build a kind of homestead. We want plenty of land where we can build our own house, a guest house for our family, an epic workshop, maybe a youtube studio. But unlike homesteads of old which were monetized by farming or raising livestock, we’d like to build small airbnb houses to help make ends meet. And Bryson City is a great place for that concept because while it’s right next to a ton of outdoor activities which we love, it’s also got a ton of popular tourist attractions nearby. This week we're looking at a couple properties that have a bunch of land as well fixer upper houses with the idea of remodeling the houses and tapping into their utilities for the rest of the property. But some of these houses are in super rough shape and we have have to ask ourselves, “are we in way over our heads?” [ SUPPORT OUR VIDEOS - PATREON ] Hop over to our Patreon Page where our biggest fans help make these videos possible. https://www.patreon.com/ProjectAtticus [ MAKE A ONE TIME CONTRIBUTION ] http://bit.ly/2Mg0GCN [ MERCH ] https://www.projectatticus.com/support [ GEAR WE LOVE ] Sunglasses: https://shrsl.com/35iim Discount Code HPATTICUS Keen Footwear: http://bit.ly/2GSEMjt [ MUSIC ] Epidemic Sound
From New York I set off single-handed towards South Africa. My first stop are the Azores and after 21 days and 2368 nm I reach Horta. This sailing cruise is affected by the Gulf Stream, but is also characterized by strong winds and calms. As always, I give a good insight into my weather navigation. Of course, I still have no idea that I have embarked on the last big voyage with my Jambo, which will sink in the South Atlantic just over 2 months later.
