Well, this was unexpected. Strings and patches of pumice from the eruption in the Ogasawara Islands ( where a new island has been forming since August) have reached Amami Oshima and clogging up some of the harbors. I feel bad for the fisherman whose livelihood depends on leaving port. Even a coast guard vessel was disabled when pumice particles were sucked into the engine. But I finally was able to find a `hole` in the weather and make my way from Miyazaki Marian to Aburatsu Fishing port where I was asked to tie up alongside a derelict vessel. We didn't get enough of Conception Island during our last short visit, so we couldn't resist as this paradise Island beckoned to us all the way from Cat Island. We weighed anchor and sailed back to explore the beaches, mangroves, reefs and stunning features of this isolated nature reserve. No phones, no internet, just beauty all around us. We sail south to Conception Island, where we anchor at the southern end of West Bay, right beside a beautiful reef we want to visit, but not with the cat! We finally get to see the mangroves Tardis and Osiris told us about when we were here last. Unfreaking real, but both of the cameras we brought do some interesting failing, so we lose a lot of footage. No worries though, there's lots left, and we'll just have to go back for more. The other side of the island includes the beach we saw last time, but now we really take our time and film this wonderful shoreline in exquisite detail for you. We think this beautiful nature preserve deserves a long ambient video to really enjoy the stunning features that abound. What do you think? Should we create an ambient video? Moments in Time represented the Seawind 1260 at the 2024 Annapolis Spring Sailboat Show. While not as large as the fall Sailboat Show, the weather was nice and the crowds were respectable. We videoed the top 3 boats of the show, in our humble opinion. There are three types of folks at the boat show, the uninitiated who are wondering what the sailing life might be, the dreamers who are defining their dreams, and the serious sailors who are looking for their next boat. Toni and I started out as the dreamers. Moments in Time was the second boat that everyone saw when they entered the boat show and had a berth of prominence across the dock from the Pride of Baltimore II. We met many folks and fans at the show, some loved the boat while others hated it. Ahh, such the criticism of being in the boat show.
