In this episode of Millennial Falcon, we are back on the water and getting our sea legs back. As we splashed back in the water in such a rush we had to finish off a few jobs that we didn’t finish in the yard. Namely, changing out the bolts on our backstay and attempting to fix a very poorly timed refrigerator breakdown! While precariously hanging over the back of the boat installing the backstay bolts was a challenge, even more challenging was attempting to fix our broken fridge. Unfortunately, our attempts fail and we're left fridgeless. With boat projects out the way and done with, we set off for a sail around to St George’s... weather permitting. By the time we go for the sail, it's a beautiful afternoon and we show our new crew the ropes of how to sail and catch a fish (it was probably more of them showing US how to catch one!). While we did manage to get a fish on the line, catching him was a different matter as our boat’s newly painted hull made her a bit too smooth and fast in the water and the poor little fish just couldn't keep up with the lure!... never a complaint we’ve had to make before! We round out the fantastic day sailing by a wrap up in the cockpit of what we’ve been up to in the yard and the sailing day. What we didn't know was that this wonderful day sailing was to be our first and last sail for quite some time. Only days after this episode wrapped we were plunged into lockdown, and have been there ever since. Walking in Petersburg, Alaska, felt a bit like being home in Sweden. There’s so much Nordic influence! Scandinavian boat names, Nordic flags and a viking ship! We plan well before setting off again because we are going through Wrangell Narrows, a narrow channel where two currents meet and we’re going through on a springtide! We are a Swedish couple who wanted a different kind of life. So we moved aboard our sailboat RAN, a custom built Beason 40 in aluminium, untied the lines in the middle of the Swedish winter, January 2016, and started sailing south along the coast of Europe. There is no set route and we will go where the wind and our minds take us. This video is the first part of several on Carvel boat planking. In this episode 3 methods of spiling are discussed. Spiling is a method that a boat builder uses to generate a plank by first capturing the perimeter of a plank's shape on the boat. “If you’re going to make it, make it beautiful.” -Bob Emser- Subscribe for more Boat Building from The Art of Boat Building: https://www.youtube.com/user/bobemser/featured?sub_confirmation=1 Share this video with a friend: https://youtu.be/qI6jm1rAZV0 How to support The Art of Boat Building. Our last days in the water with this boat (Prickly Bay, Grenada - The Caribbean) Friends in this episode: @TaylorsTravels @kricketscreations @SailLife @Dylanmagaster. @linolino-22 Insta @mrevansd We are Duca and Roberta, a Brazilian couple that during a sabbatical trip in 2016 decided to follow our dream. So, we created "Odd Life Crafting", a project composed of many smaller projects that we call seasons. The first one was the creation of Odd Life Crafting. The idea was to build a metal boat to be able to travel the world taking our house with us, but we didn't have money for that. So, we started the next season: we built a tiny shipping container house with no prior experience in building to gain some skills to build a boat. When we were almost finished we found a boat 700km away from our hometown that was neglected for over 22 years and we spent 2 years refitting her (Season 3). The last season has been a dream coming true… we are exploring the Brazilian coast with OUR BOAT that we called Odd.. But wait? What happened to the house? Check out our website to know more about it https://www.oddlifecrafting.com/blog We hope to inspire others to follow their dreams. You might recognize Ystad from the Wallander books and movies?! Ystad is a really cosy and beautiful town with a great ship chandlery! Part 2 of a two part video about taking a Sailing boat though the Panama canal. In this episode we leave Gatun Lake and enter the Mirafloes locks before breaking out into the pacific ocean. Safe sailing. Boat: White Shadow is a Van De Stadt ‘Seal’ 36 (11 metres). She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Panasonic Hc-v700. Most shots are done with an external mic (Shenggu sg 108) with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Action stuff and small blogging is done with a Sony Hdr-as30v. Underwater video Gopro3plus. Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over a day. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. Much time is spent sorting out technical problems. In this case I normally get the help of a younger person who understands computerie stuff! There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. Content: I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘blar bar mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. Comments and being at sea: I love reading your comments. Most weeks Im able to read everyone. I cant reply to everybody but I do read and enjoy them. Keep them coming! There are times that It might seem I'm not on the internet for certain periods, this is normally when Im at sea on passage. While Im out on the Ocean I have completely no communications with the outside World. When PARADISE turns to HELL | Sailing Martinique | 98 | Beau and Brandy Sailing We continue sailing up the west coast of Martinique into the harbor of St. Pierre. Here one of the deadliest volcanoes overlooks the anchorage. In 1902 the volcano erupted and leveled the town of 30,000 in 3 seconds. Hundreds of ships burst into flames and sunk, not able to break away from their anchors in time. We dive one of these ships that sunk during the eruption, the Amelie. It’s quite eerie to see something growing beautifully underwater that ends so tragically. We heard there was one survivor found alive in St. Pierre four days after the eruption. He was locked in his underground jail cell, which in turn saved his life, because the deadly gas and ash were unable to reach him. We were able to go into town and look around at the destruction. Lots of areas, including the jail cell and the local theater still remain just as the day the volcano erupted. Hope you enjoy! #sailingsaoirse #sailingmartinique #shipwreckdive big love, beau, brandy, and our salty dog, oona ____________________________________________________________________ Like what you see and want to pitch in for our next video 🎥 upload: http://bit.ly/one-time-donation-bb Want even MORE? Join us for a few days of cruising on the Inside Passage in British Columbia, Canada. For Sale - More info on http://www.haas-international.com/brokerage/detail.php?yacht=104 FOFTEIN II is a timeless masterpiece; an impressive classic cutter rigged sailing yacht with a beautiful sheer line. She was designed by German Frers and built 1999 in Aluminium at Royal Huisman in Holland, for an owner whose goal was to cruise the world and follow his passion for diving and filming marine life, particularly whales. The interior, designed by Pieter Beeldsnijder, is a clear demonstration of the amazing care that has been taken to achieve a traditional and authentic overall appearance and is exquisitely appointed in paneled cherry wood with granite counter tops thus enhancing the simple elegance, warmth and practicality of a true Gentleman´s yacht. Outside on deck, the varnished teak and the stainless steel dorades and winches create an exclusive and timeless ambience coupled with an ingeniously well designed deck layout. FOFTEIN II is at the same time both a classic and a modern yacht, and while her appearance is traditional, her sparkling performance results from a fast hull, a large, tapered Aluminium mast and spars and computer-cut sails with semi-automated handling gear. She features a profusion of modern technical systems, chosen for reliability for world cruising. The yacht features two cockpits; the center cockpit is the social center and leads into the deck house that offers great visibility around the yacht. A second cockpit aft is dedicated to the owner and leads with separate stairs into master suite. FOFTEIN II offers luxurious comfort, upmost safety and is equipped for worldwide cruising. On her maiden voyage she went to the beautiful Norwegian Fjords and the pack ice of Spitsbergen, subsequently left for the Red Sea followed by an extended world cruise throughout the Indian Ocean into the South East Asia region and beyond. Foftein II has been with the same owner since launch and has been meticulously maintained throughout her circumnavigation in all respects. Offered with new paint, sails, decks, batteries, standing rigging with fully serviced and up to date engineering systems, she is more than ready for her next adventure.

Not much has really happened this week. I am still grinding, nearly finished, and I have only found three more holes. The rest of the hull seems to be quite all right. The part between the keels was not as bad as I feared and I also got some more offers from different welders this week. So step by step, things are going on.
