But there's plenty of work to do that's not hindered by it. Some days we can't get out to the boat shed until 9 or 10 a.m., for the fact that it's almost dangerous to be outside in the conditions. We can't reveal yet the special plans for the little bulkhead forward— the one that completes the hanging locker that our friend, Jeff, started a couple of weeks ago. We'll learn more about that soon, but for now, Steve gives it it's final fit, then it's off to the paint room for a few coats of sealer and varnish on the inside surface. We made a highly detailed pattern for the stainless bulkhead and stove surround that Evan will make. Hooray and huzzah, in go the first few main lines for the electrical system. At this point, 10-gauge wire has been assigned to a few of the first simple circuits: lights and cabin heater on one, charging ports on another, and the main lines that will serve the forward bilge pump (assigned to the chain locker) and the nav lights up the main mast. With our MDF board properly measured and cut, we can now transfer that to our bulkheads to cut out three perfectly matching doors. The two of us take the measurements on the bulkheads themselves to find the centerline - and from there, where the doors will sit at each end. Screwing the template into place, Matt uses his router to make a few passes, and presto, we have doors! The plan had been to do some glassing on Bulkhead 5 as soon as we'd cut out the doors, but an unexpected storm and high humidity stopped us from getting that far. Luckily, Bulkhead 4, sitting up on the bridge deck, still had plenty of work to offer us for the afternoon. We hope you enjoy! Much love from Annapolis! So we finally got the energy and time to compile our whole yacht rebuild of our abandoned sailboat into a meer 7 minutes.. Can you believe it.. I wish it actually just took us 7 minutes to complete this project.. 😂 The before and afters are obviously also included so that it can be somewhat satisfactory to the eye because let me tell you it wasn't for us. 😜 This is now our offgrid living house. ABANDONED SAILBOAT Thanks for the support to those who have followed along with her from the stripping out days, it was a killer but we got through it.. Tiled surfaces will be both insulating and radiating when it comes to the heat. Steve goes into detail about how the stove works, and about the size and shape that it can handle for solid fuel. The answer there is very small, very portable, very manageable, very efficient. It burns coal, too! We went to MIT! Massachusetts Institute of Technology professor Danny Braunstein, who runs the Pappalardo Laboratories there, has been planning for about two years now to cast cleats from molds taken from one of Victoria's bronze cleats. We do need some extra cleats to make lines off to, as Victoria's cutter rig required one less mast's-worth of string, so to speak. We take you with us to this special place, where students learn about materials and how to work with them.
