The U.S. Coast Guard and the Mexican Navy are looking for the 44-foot sailing yacht that has Kerry and Frank O’Brien of Girdwood and William Gross of Pennsylvania on board. The crew was last heard from off of the Baja Peninsula near Mazatlan on April 4. The Mexican Navy said has used four patrol boats and a twin-engine prop airplane to search. “Search and rescue coordinators have contacted marinas throughout Baja, Mexico, with negative sightings of the vessel. Urgent marine information broadcasts have been issued over VHF radio requesting all mariners to keep a lookout for the missing persons and vessel,” the Coast Guard said in a statement. The O’Briens have 50-ton captain licenses with sailing endorsements and decades of combined experience sailing. Kerry works in both Southern California and Alaska in the maritime and hospitality fields. Gross is also a seasoned sailor, according to his friends. In this vlog we finally get the new headliner in the salon area of our sailboat. We used a tongue and groove style vinyl beadboard found at Home Depot. It's completely waterproof and should never rot. The trim is also vinyl. We also added 1/2" XPS foam insulation, (also found at Home Depot) to help cut down on the heat of the tropical sun's rays. We're finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Steve and Alix started as amateur boat builders building their own 38' wooden boat in their backyard: designer William Atkin's Ingrid with a Stormy Petrel's gaff rig. What happens when you get a sailboat for FREE? You spend a lot of money, a lot of time, and do a lot of work! That's the reality of getting a free sailboat. We continue with the start of the refit on our Endeavour 32. Our first goal is to make the boat as water-tight as possible, and the old portlights leak so bad they've made it to priority one. We remove all of our 10 portlights in this video, but not without a fight. Either the original yard or a previous owner (there were many) used an adhesive instead of sealant to bed the portlights, making them almost impossible to remove without damage. In this episode I show how to install a stock factory backup camera in a 2017 Ford F-150 XL that did not come with a backup camera. Here are steps to activate the camera and then turn on backup lines: 1: Connect ForScan, follow the prompts when connecting. 2: Under the FCDIM module, on the 7A5-01-01 line/field, change the 2nd digit from a "0" to a "2". Save/write the change (follow the prompts). (this activates the camera) 3: Under the BCM module, on the 726-39-02 line/field, change the 6th digit to a "1". Save/write the change (follow the prompts). 4: Click the wrench icon and run "LIN New Module Calibration". This week it's just what it says on the tin. Steve goes through making the four remaining drawers for the workbench after he finishes the proof-of-concept drawer he and Wes started. Victoria's drawers went from impossible-to-open to dry and super wiggly in just the short time she was here in the front yard. Drawing from those observations, Steve comes up with a drawer solution with just seven fasteners each, and no glued joints, which will hopefully allow these to expand and contract in changing humidity levels. The drawer slides are of slippery UHMW polyethylene bars that we ordered from McMaster Carr. It was easy to cut and the drawers slide very well on them. We also finally received and unboxed the cook stove and diesel heater that were on the Wishlist—thank you to everyone who gave to the wishlist and who continue to send support toward the things that are left. As we work on the interior, we occasionally add a thing or two, and when we see the great many names there we can't help but smile. Thanks for watching!
