We enter the Bocas del toro annual regatta, which we actually started in 2019, and have raced in every regatta since then. There is another lagoon 450 in the race, so its a great opportunity to see whether our bulkhead repairs and sugar scoop extensions actually make us sail faster, in comparison to our sister ship. But things take a turn for the worse when our drone decides to not be able to come back to the boat, in the middle of the race! SV Parlay is a hurricane damaged Lagoon 450 catamaran, which Colin rebuilt with friends and has started sailing around the world. They found bulkhead damage on their catamaran in Panama, so have fixed her up, and are almost ready to cross the Pacific Ocean!! It’s free and way more beautiful. But now and then we have to pull into port for repairs or government formalities. In order to get there, and position ourselves for the sail down to Indonesia, we have to cross the country from West to East. Doing so requires some overnight sails that are unavoidable due to lack of anchorages. Fishing boats, floats and gear litters most of the waters of South East Asia. Many are unlit and cause us yachties to actually have to pay attention at night. FADS also known as Fish Aggregation Devices are everywhere. Often they have palm leaves attached underneath to attract a whole plethora of fish. Wow, can you believe we are hitting episode 200??!! It seems like just a few weeks ago that I started shyly picking up a camera as we were in the middle of the aluminum boat refit - not sure what I would say or if anyone would find it worth watching. But, nearly 5 years later, here we are!! Matt and I open the tent doors and fit on the nose cones to make sure everything is still aligned when we do the dry fits of the hull sides. Once it is determined that the way we'd set it up to bond still allows us to seamlessly put the cones on - it's time to get to work. Our friends Brian and Summer make their way over to Kent Island just after sunrise on one cool morning, and with one test run and a lot of team work, we manage to get the starboard outer hull side on just within the 40-60 minute window we have to work with our methacrylate bonding agent. Thanks to my amazing friend Heather for uploading this for me via jump drive. Not sure when another one will be uploaded but know that we made it safely across to the Marquesas! Although we spent the required $2400 to cruise the Galapagos, we were very disappointed at all the restrictions that prevented us from diving and kayaking and exploring like we wanted to. Half way in to crossing the Atlantic the squalls continues and we don't get a lot of sleep. But the days pass fast anyway and when there's only a couple of days left the trade winds kicks in and we start to logg many miles per day. After 18 days we arrive early morning to St. Davids on Grenada after an incredible experience! We are a Swedish couple who wanted a different kind of life. So we moved aboard our sailboat RAN, a custom built aluminium Beason 40, and untied the lines in the middle of the Swedish winter and started to sail south along the coast of Europe. In this episode we hit the lowest point yet on the build and remove the cedar planks we worked so hard to install onto Arabella. The oak pile got sorted and inventoried to see if we even have enough oak to plank Arabella with it. The replacement planks are found in the oak stores and are cut from the big slabs of timber. While sorting and plank making we find one oak board that was a little sick. Finally we take a day off from the planking battle and focus on a couple of smaller tasks that could use doing including fixing/modifying some camera gear. It was great to feel a small sense of accomplishment after all the recent set-backs. Thanks for following along! Hatte ich mich bei meinem letzten Video noch so auf die Überführung mit der X-41 gefreut, kam direkt nach der Ankunft die große Ernüchterung. Die 10 Jahre alte X-41 war in einem für dieses Alter, miserablen Zustand. Leider hat der Eigner sowohl beim Kauf, als auch bei allen weiteren wichtigen Punkten versagt. Am Ende konnten wir nur noch die Reißleine ziehen, denn oberste Priorität hatte die Sicherheit der Crew. Deswegen mussten wir nach einer Woche aufgeben und die Rückreise antreten. Leider habe ich nicht alle Mängel auf Video und es ist ein relativ langes „laber" Video geworden, das liegt zu einem daran das auf vielen Aufnahmen auch der Eigner zu sehen wäre, welcher aber über das Video sicherlich nicht so amused wäre. Da ich mich in keine rechtlichen Grauzonen begeben möchte versuchte ich lieber auf die Aufnahmen. Ach ja, falls noch nicht getan, lasst mal ein Abo da!
