After a week of setbacks, we finally receive all of the new parts in the mail to push forward with our outboard repair. We run into a couple of setbacks, but ultimately learn some great lessons, and manage to get Little Shit II/the Deuce back out on the water! Well, it's finally time to say goodbye to Victoria. We got her knowing she was going to be a parts boat but was still the first boat we ever owned. Feels a little bitter-sweet. In this episode we explore the island of Biak, which was a significant world war 2 battle site between the Japanese and the Allies. The Japanese were hiding out in a huge nature cave later called Goa Jepang, and when the USA found out about their hideout, they bombed the top of the cave open, and threw down barrels of gasoline and set them all on fire. It is known as the battle of Biak, but is rarely visited by tourists due to its remote location. SV Parlay is a hurricane damaged Lagoon 450 catamaran, which Colin rebuilt with friends and has started sailing around the world. After making landfall in Australia, we did a quick haulout near Brisbane to get the boat back into shape after crossing the entire Pacific Ocean. We then set out to cruise down the east coast of the continent, enjoying the natural beauty and great sailing conditions as we made progress toward our next goal of reaching Sydney. The ketch Julia was designed by William Atkin and built in British Columbia in 1960. She is a traditionally built wooden boat, planked in Doug Fir on oak frames. In this episode we continue our journey south stopping at little islands along the way. The first being Great Guana Key to visit the pink iguanas. We make it to Lee Stocking Island where the boys catch more lobster and Steve manages to get some coconuts. After a 3-4 hour sail on one engine we make it to Georgetown, Bahamas and anchor. Steve was feeling proud after managing to do that! We then went into town to check it out and that night went to the chat n chill. The following day Steve and I went grocery shopping and it cost $700 for just a handful of bags! It was time to take Malia's best friend Capri to the airport. It was a sad goodbye. We then had a doctor's appointment for Easton in town to get his ear infection checked. We got a prescription and were told he needed to stay out of the water! (That will be difficult!) That night was the big Pig Feed at the Chat N Chill. It was a lot more packed then the day before. The next day we took a hike to see the art walk as well as the monument. We took the boys on a quick spearfishing trip and even saw dolphins on the way home. The winds and rain started to pick up so we headed back to the boat. We had a major storm that lasted 3 days!

An "equatorial baptism", or "crossing the line" ceremony is the age old ritual performed when a sailor goes from one hemisphere to the other, at sea. This is a long held tradition, originally made popular by the British navy, in which a hazing ceremony takes place to convert mariners from pollywogs, to Shellbacks in the presence of King Neptune, the god of the sea. So when we crossed the equator in Indonesia with 3 pollywogs on board, of course we had to continue the tradition for you all to witness!
