This was a great early Fall sail from Little Sturgeon, Wisconsin back to Green Bay, Wisconsin, bringing the boat back to Green Bay for winter storage. Winds out of the East at about 12 knots for most of the sail back.

How does the OIS of the XF 18-55mm "Kitlens" and autofocus of the X-T2 work in practice? - Using Classic Chrome filter, all shots with autofocus on and handheld. Not the professional way, but quick and dirty filmed and finished in a bit more than one hour of my time. Fujifilms first X-Series camera with competitive video function. The X-T2`s output is more than competitive. In my opinion, the handling is also on a good way, but still not perfect yet. Fujifilm will improve details with every software update.

In this episode we continue the project of removing the teak decks, We have been sanding the decks smooth before adding some thickened epoxy to fair the deck smooth and then will add layers of fiberglass to provide additional strength to the deck. I know of many of these boats sailing the world that had the teak decks removed without issue, but I had a few people tell me that the removal of the teak may weaken the strength of the deck and allow the sides of the hull to flex more in heavy seas. To avoid any possible risk (Even if minimal) I am going to build up the deck a bit thicker just to be sure. I figure it is better to overbuild it than underbuild it. In the end, it is already a 58,000 pound boat. What is another couple hundred pounds of epoxy resin and fiberglass. :) All in all it has been a large job, but honestly one that I am glad we are doing and not as bad as I thought it would be. I was so worried about this I have put it off for 2 years now. Join us on our journey as we continue to rebuild, refit and prepare our Formosa 51 Sailboat for our continued cruising journey. We have always loved the Formosa, bought one (on a bit of a whim) late in 2014, moved aboard this one right away and started to do our refit while living board. Sea Chateau is a 1997 Voyage Mayotte 500 for sale in the BVIs (as of September 2016). The boat is very well kept by the liveaboard owners who have run a successful charter business for several years. I have no connection to the boat or the sale other than as an interested buyer. It's a bit too big for us, but surveying the market, it is a lot of boat for the money.

With Varuna in the boatyard waiting for her bowsprit replacement, we have been out all over California with Ty working, but it’s finally time to say goodbye to the working world and head back to the coast. On our way back, we happen across Buttonwillow airport and some guys out there flying some pretty awesome remote control aircraft, doing all sorts of acrobatics and aerial tricks. We also get in some awesome footage of some of California’s iconic fields of produce in the rich agricultural region of the Central Valley. Once we get back to the boatyard, it’s time to see how the repair progress is coming along. They have the new stainless bowsprit all made up, getting it’s final welds and fitting on the deck to work with our anchor system. It’s been a slow process, but they’ve been doing an outstanding job! A Lorient, 1er septembre 2016. A l’heure de la rentrée des classes, Bertrand de Broc et son équipe technique ont remis à l’eau, l’IMOCA MACSF, en configuration Vendée Globe. Un chantier qui vient de se terminer et qui aura duré près de 3 mois placé sous le signe de la « fiabilisation de tous les postes ». Au programme : « L’IMOCA MACSF sera fin prêt à naviguer d’ici 8 jours dans la rade de Lorient. Enfin, on va pouvoir passer aux entrainements et aux réglages afin de tester le nouveau gréement et la nouvelle Grand-Voile. Jusqu’au Vendée Globe le programme est assez chargé : les tests en mer s’enchaineront entrecoupés des dernières réunions à Paris et aux Sables d’Olonne. Francis Joyon va repartir à la conquête du Trophée Jules Verne avec son trimaran Idec Sport et les cinq marins qui composaient déjà son équipage lors de la tentative ratée - à deux jours près - d'il y a un an. Le Trophée Jules Verne, tour du monde sans escale et en équipage, est détenu depuis janvier 2012 par Loïck Peyron et l'équipage du maxi-trimaran (40 m) Banque Populaire V en 45 j 13 h et 42 min, à la moyenne de 19,75 noeuds pour une distance orthodromique d'environ 21.600 milles. Les six hommes partiront dès l'ouverture d'une fenêtre météo intéressante, peut-être dès fin octobre. "Le plus tôt possible, en tout cas", indique Joyon dans un communiqué. Les cinq équipiers de Joyon, originaires d'horizons très différents et très polyvalents, sont les Français Gwénolé Gahinet et Clément Surtel, le Suisse Bernard Stamm, l'Espagnol Alex Pella et l'Allemand Boris Herrmann.
