A promotional video I directed, filmed and edited for Diving Matrix, a scuba diving school offering Raid certifications - based in the UK and Malta. This was a really interesting project as it took place in two very different locations. It began whilst I was taking a technical diving course with Diving Matrix in Malta - these are the bright, sunny looking shots! The second half was filmed in a cold, murky, British quarry called Vobster. Here I was able to film a Deco 50 course, and participate in two days of VMS RedBare CCR rebreather try-outs. The client was after a video with tempo, something that was exciting and demonstrated the fun, quality, and adventure of their brand. Using music with a high tempo and matching the transitions of clips with the beat of this music created the driving feel. Structurally, the audience is taken through the sequence of a dive: prep/checks, entering the water, descending, diving and surfacing (Despite being filmed in two countries). Combining this structure with that fast tempo takes you on the story of a real dive with Matrix, and the excitement and adrenaline of their courses comes across effectively. We are super excited to start our Atlantic crossing passage, but before we need to be ready and JAEKA as well. Well, Whitehaven Beach has got to be one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever seen. It has this sand that is so white it actually hurts your eyes and if you’re not wearing sunglasses for some bizarre reason, you have to go to the optometrist and have your eye balls checked out. Seriously what an epic week on the water, this has got to be the highlight of our trip so far. Die Fahrradroute ist schlecht beschildert. Gut 50 % fehlen an Markierungen. Wenn ich meine Navi nicht dabei hält, hätte ich die Strecke nicht fahren können. Mehrmal habe ich mich verfahren, trotz dieses Navi, durch die fehlende Markierung! Als erstes ist der Startpunkt nicht zu erkennen. Der ist der „Platz der Deutschen Einheit“ An der Eisenbahnschiene nach Hervest muß man über die Hauptstrasse Halterner Strasse direkt queren. Das ist er abgesperrt, also musste ich der Kreisel bei Hellweg nehmen das ist sinnvoller. 6:45 Video Dann habe ich den Blauen See in Holsterhausen falsch umrunden. 20:00 Video Dann mußte ich die Lippe überqueren mit der Baldurfähren. Das ist eine Katastrophe. Das geht es 30 % bergab und bergauf. Ich habe nur eine gesundes Bein. Das anderer kann ich zu hälfte benutzen. Wenn mir keiner geholfen hatte, wäre die Fähre nicht zu benutzen. 45:00 Video An Gymnasium Petrinum ist der Weg zu den Mercaden immer noch nicht frei. 56:00 Video Familienroute ist die Strecke nicht. Zwar kurz, aber zu hälfte ist sie Split, Asche und Wald, das Fahrrad liegt unruhig. Dann möchte ich mit meinen Kind nicht vorbeifahren. Die Baldurfähre ist interessant aber das sollten Stufen sein. Kleine Stufen und das Rad auf eine Spur. Das alle eine Zweirad habe wird das für mit zu einen Problem mit der Dreirad. Insgesamt eine Strecke die mal fahren kann, dann habe ich Weg kenngelernt die ich noch nicht kannte.

Most of the crew of the Barbados 50 went some day by ferry to the NE corner of ‘magic’ San Antao. A very enjoyable day trip from Mindelo. You could go on your own and hiring a taxi or you can arrange ahead a bus tour with one of the tour operators in Mindelo. Go up the top of the mountains then down deep in the valleys … Have a nice lunch at Maracuja restaurant and try to not miss the last ferry back! I would argue that over indulgence of alcohol is not only a major concern in the boating community, but a risk that should be avoided. In this episode I explore some the negative aspects of consumption aboard, and touch a little on my own journey away from alcoholism.
