The solo sail continues as do the anchor tests. I revisit the naked beach, Playa Mujeres, to drop the hook for another test and a swim ashore. Then I go to spend a night a Marina Rubicon and visit my friends Pilou & Aurelie. The next day we go and sail together side by side to get some shots of our boats under sail. I make the return back to Arrecife and test my skills at tacking and taking on 30kts wind gust coming into Marina Lanzarote. Neither of us have a huge amount of sailing experience & it's always been something that we've wanted to try. So being two newly graduated young people, this could be one of the best times of our life to do it. We decided to go ahead with the idea, but after finishing three years of university our budget is pretty tight. We get chased out of the Florida Keys by a category 5 hurricane that threatens the state of Florida. With only 6 days before the hurricane is expected to hit, we make a last minute decision to go up the west coast of Florida and find a safe haven. Four long cruising days later, we make it to Palmetto, FL and secure unAnchored. Along the way, our dinghy begins to sink and fills with water.
