We were sent off with some incredible energy and enjoyed a five day cruise along the coast as the crew got to know each other a bit better :) We enjoyed our first taste of the insane amounts of wildlife we would be experiencing throughout Namibia but get a bit spooked when our radar fails in the thick fog just outside of Luderitz! Hope the tribe enjoys & the crew sends you lots of love! xxoo Subscribe at http://youtube.com/svdelos This is our story, a story of three souls sailing around the world. It is a story about sailing and travel and adventure. But it's also a story about meeting amazing people and making life long friends. Music by The Palms (https://soundcloud.com/thepalmsmusic) Really appreciate the support, check out the Patreon for more access and perks: https://www.patreon.com/FindingSimon If Patreon isn't your thing, I also have a Paypal.me link: paypal.me/ShelbyandSimon I've also created an Amazon Wish List if you'd like to purchase specific items I'll need as the build continues: http://a.co/dx7F4dz I'm a Canadian photographer from Ottawa who got rid of everything to travel to world. I make travel vlogs sharing my ups and downs, adventures on motorbikes, sailboats, and vans. Instagram: @Finding_Simon Snapchat: Finding_Simon Twitter: @FindingSimon Donations: paypal.me/ShelbyandSimon Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/FindingSimon Merchandise: http://simonstiles.com/finding-simon/ :::::::FAQ::::::: - How do you afford to travel constantly? A: I travel really cheap, free camping, cooking my own meals, being as efficient as possible. I make my income almost entirely on YouTube but it's really tight. Ad revenue, patreon, paypal donations, merchandise sales and affiliate links bring in about as much as a part time minimum wage job, and I'm able to make that work. When it isn't enough I go back to work, doing photography mostly, sometimes commercial video projects, but it takes me away from my travels and videos. - How much does it cost? I spend on average $2000 travelling, most of which is gas, some repairs, food, and on average less than $200 on any eating out, shopping or extra curricular expenditures. I make $200 a month from YouTube and $400 from Patreon. The rest I make from my work. - What camera do you use? Sony A7ii, DJI Mavic Pro, Rode Videomic with Deadcat, Zihyun Crane 3 Axis Gimbal, DIY tripods and lights. - What is your bike? 1999 Yamaha Vstar XVS1100 with a Champion Escort sidecar. - What kind of boat is that? It's a 1979 Wharram Oro 47 - What're your plans? Fix it up, run nothing but green power, sail off into the sunset. - How do you find all these cool places? To gain access to my complete research you need to hit me up on Patreon, but here's a few sites I frequent: https://freecampsites.net/ https://www.campendium.com/ http://www.atlasobscura.com/ https://www.couchsurfing.com/ - What do you do for Internet? I use coffeeshops and libraries to upload episodes a few at a time, I also use my wifi antenna (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5T9lNM8Mukk&t=2s) and a data package on my phone (10GB) - How do you live on the road with a dog? It's really not as difficult as people seem to think. I spend most of the day with my dog anyways, especially if it's warm out in the middle of the day. I let the constraint of bringing my dog with me help me make some decisions, avoiding places that ban dogs, and spending more time out in nature instead of in the cities. - What happened to the girl? We decided to go separate ways (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPgxDIXxCjY&t=4s) - Are you rich or something? definitely not. I've spent some quality time homeless, I've struggled financially most of my life, and although I'm blessed with great friends and family as well as being able bodied white and male, I don't subscribe to the belief that you need someone footing your bills in order to travel the world. You need to sacrifice comfort, consistency, safety, time with family, and often your career but it is possible. - Why don't you have 10x more subscribers? My channel isn't that old, many of the bigger channels you can compare mine to started putting out videos a couple years before I began. I could always use your help sharing my videos, spreading the word, and connecting with cross promotional opportunities. Editing and travelling tend to take up all my time. - Where are you now? The top perk on my Patreon page is a live link of my location on google maps so you can get an active idea of where I am currently. If that's not an option for you there's also Instagram and Instagram stories that give you a much better idea of what I'm up to today.

Oh, it feels nice to be sailing again! Finally we set sail and head to Aruba, a 75 nautical miles passage from Curacao. We sail overnight and arrive to Aruba where we go through the different kind of clearance procedure. Check out Alsino's channel here: https://www.youtube.com/user/curacao11 We are a Swedish couple who wanted a different kind of life. So we moved aboard our sailboat RAN, a custom built aluminium Beason 40, untied the lines in the middle of the Swedish winter and started to sail south along the coast of Europe. There is no set route and we will go where the wind and our minds take us. WANT MORE? We embark on a 250 nautical mile sail from New Caledonia across the deep Hebrides trench to Vanuatu. Hand steering for 3 days & 2 nights, just the two of us... https://www.sailingnandji.com In this episode of Sailing Nandji, we check out of New Caledonia and set sails to a new country. We leave Noumea with some challenging trade wind conditions. Strong winds force us to hide away for the afternoon and night sail to reach anchorages to wait for tidal currents to allow us to exit reef passes. We need all the elements in our favour to move in the right direction! Once clear of the outer lagoon, we set our sails and begin the open water crossing through Loyalty islands. We have a long period of time with little wind and end up drifting at sea. The wind returns and we sail across the deep Hebrides trench. This trench is over 6000m deep in places! We finally arrive to our destination of Tanna Island, Vanuatu. It was a 3 day and 2 long night journey, hand steering 250 nautical miles with just the two of us. WINDVANE If you would like to help Nandji get a windvane, you can make a contribution through paypal, click the link below! Or head over to our website and find the link on the front page! In this episode on the isle of Grenada, I try not to drown in a jungle, explore a rain forest, encounter rough seas, take a ride with a rastaman in a van. Voice over Kathy Cogan. Please give us a thumbs up. On Facebook our page is ‘Adventures of an old Seadog’ and there you can find ‘realtime’ up-dates and news that you are welcome to share with your friends. Safe sailing. Twitter https://twitter.com/barryperrins Facebook https://www.facebook.com/adventuresofanoldseadog/ All the stuff you want to know. Boat: White Shadow is a Van De Stadt ‘Seal’ 36 (11 metres). She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Panasonic Hc-v700. Most shots are done with an external mic (Shenggu sg 108) with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Action stuff and small blogging is done with a Sony Hdr-as30v. Underwater video Gopro3plus. Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over a day. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. Much time is spent sorting out technical problems. In this case I normally get the help of a younger person who understands computerie stuff! There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. Content: I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘blar bar mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. We FORGOT TO CLEAR CUSTOMS is a true story of how easy it is to forget the real world of geo-political boundaries (and small matters like Customs and Immigration!) when you are living a life that is free of these constructs. So reality came knocking in the form of a small fine from the Grenadan police and the requirement to return to SVG to clear out, before returning to Grenada. Thankfully the round trip was only 30 miles but it was a wake up that we would soon be re-joining the "real-world" as our first season of cruising was drawing to a close. We hope you enjoy, comment and question. And, do like, SHARE and subscribe if you want more! You can support our creations by becoming a PATRON, link below. You guys are AWESOME ! Come along on a beautiful day for a fall ride in the Colorado mountains for and some great scenery and a fun talk on what makes this car so spectacular! We hope you enjoyed the video. SOLD! Congratulations and safe travels to the new owners. St. Helena, a Nordhavn 35, is hull 19 out of 23. The owners are a retired couple from Colorado who have enjoyed over a dozen summers exploring the Pacific Northwest aboard her. They took delivery in California, and after a year in the waters of Baja California, headed north for the Pacific Northwest. They have done a remarkable job of looking after the boat; there are maintenance spreadsheets and a summary of upgrades as each year they made sure she was ready for their return the following season. These sellers have treated St. Helena graciously, living by the philosophy that, “When you take care of your trawler, your trawler takes care of you”. The Nordhavn 35 was a limited production model that has aged remarkably well and is truly an irreplaceable vintage since the tooling was destroyed many years ago. There is really nothing around under 40’ that is as practical and elegant, especially for two people. There are similar types of sporty trawlers; like the American Tug, Nordic Tug, Grand Banks 36 and Selene 36/38/40 – but none of these models can challenge the overall package the Nordhavn 35 offers. Superbly engineered and beautifully crafted in Taiwan, the Nordhavn 35 has a commanding presence. First thing you will notice is her striking good looks, sharing a family resemblance to her larger ocean crossing sisters. One of the 35’s primary advantages is that she was designed with every critical decision in favor of creating the ultimate coastal explorer for an adventurous couple. One of the biggest appeals of this little ship is that she has as an ideal layout for two. Ideal for a couple who wants something easy to manage and maintain that also boasts beautiful craftsmanship and is easy to operate. The 35 is purpose built to accomplish this mission, (no cramming in a second cabin or additional head). Think of her, if you will, akin to a “tandem bicycle built for two”. The Nordhavn 35 is a very appealing boat with many attractive aspects including her quiet ride and her optimized layout. She is quite happy prowling around at trawler speeds, but can turn up to achieve 10 knots if you need to race the tide or want to get into port before the sun sets. A quick look at the equipment summary aboard St. Helena will let you know that she has an appropriate equipment list. St. Helena has been prepared for the market and priced in expectation of a prompt agreement to purchase. With so few Nordhavn 35’s that ever come up for sale, it is important for you to get aboard so you can see for yourself – especially if you wish to become a 35 owner sometime soon and don’t want to miss out. Her Yanmar main engine is one of the few 35’s to exceed 4,000 hours and that remarkable diesel power plant has been rewarded with careful attention to preserve reliability for many more years to come. One of the parameters in physical dimensions was the ability to truck the 35 across land from coast to coast relatively economically for more cruising versatility. Many 35’s have crossed the country by highway to visit unique cruising grounds and change of scenery. The scarcity of available boats publicly listed for sale has made the Nordhavn 35 highly coveted and sought after. St. Helena is USCG documented and available for inspection by appointment only. Please get in touch if you are interested in additional information.
Eislaufbahn). Bahamas Here We Come! After leaving Utah we will no longer have friends or family near by to help us if things continue to go wrong! We are officially on our own and there's no turning back from here on out! We got the truck mostly fixed AGAIN while in Utah and had a great time visiting friends and family while there, but now it's time to continue our cross country journey with Turtle! It was very sad to leave knowing we might not be back anytime soon. The road ahead of us is unknown. We don't know what to expect or what we will see or if there will be help along the way if things go wrong. We just have to take this one day at a time, just like we did back in Oregon. We drove for more than 12 hrs. before finding a good place to stop and rest for the remainder of what was left of our night. It was 1am when we arrived in Phoenix, AZ. and we ended up sleeping in a parking lot, that we weren't sure if we were allowed to stay at or not. At 6am we woke up to someone knocking on the boat telling us it was time to leave. We got on the freeway only to get stuck in stop and go traffic for quite some time. (at 6am!) We stopped for gas and decided that we better switch out the spare tire with the new heavy duty one we got back in Las Vegas, Nv. We drove for 2 HOURS with the new tire and BLEW OUT BOTH LEFT SIDE TIRES while crossing a bridge in heavy traffic! Cars were honking at us as they drove past us, but there was no where to pull over or stop on the bridge! We were forced to keep driving a few more feet till we got the section of road that separates the on-ramp traffic that was getting on the freeway. While stopped in the median, we had extremely fast traffic ZOOMING past us on both sides of the the truck and trailer. The truck and trailer rocked side to side as the traffic rushed past! Randall quickly called the insurance to get a tow truck sent to us, but found that we did not actually have "Towing" insurance that we were told we had. WE ARE NOW ON OUR OWN!! We were in an extremely dangerous place on the freeway and knew we had to get off the road no matter what! Randall put the truck in 4wheel drive and pressed the gas peddle to the floor. The tires were spinning, but we slowly drug the boat that was now sitting on the spring purches across the road and to the side. Both rims were completely destroyed! With only one spare tire we knew we couldn't move the boat, BUT WE TRIED! haha We only moved a couple feet was all and was still dragging the under side of the trailer. An off duty officer stopped and asked if we needed help. He took Randall to town and was able to help us find a shop that had the wheels and tires that we needed. Wow What A Day! We still have a long ways to go before we get to the Bahamas, but the journey is an Exciting Adventure you won't want to miss out on! ********************************************************************** THANK YOU for watching our videos and for SUBSCRIBING to our YouTube channel! Fashion and style are essential in Croatia and are a big part of local life! We explore street style on the Riva, the history of the humble tie, and everything fashion in Split. One of Croatia's claims to fame is the humble neck-tie, or Cravat, dating back to the 17th century when this fashion accessory was created! We had to one of the most luxurious tie stores in Split Old Town to learn more about this age-old invention. Local Stories is a series dedicated to providing an insight into the quirky aspects of Croatian people, culture and traditions!
