Six months ago we started our journey in Greece with little sailing experience, figuring things out as we go, not really knowing what we're doing. Our goal is to circumnavigate the world via the wind, always being surrounded by the ocean. Sailboat life is super different from land life and can be pretty rough at times. see the little things is the documentary of our endeavour of simplifying life, decelerating pace, and practicing mindfulness. Follow our adventures when you are curious to see how we mess up and fix it up again! We are currently still sailing Greece, but will head over to Italy and beyond soon. It's been a year since the family has been together and we are having a blast celebrating the 4th of July! The giant hill in the backyard is fabulous for sledding in the winter and slip-n-slide in the summer and we took full advantage of the momentum produced by it. Enjoy a glimpse of family life and the dynamics of the clan! Meet the siblings, nephews, and nieces, and laugh along with us and enjoy the ride in our family chain as we slide down the hill! Happy 4th of July!!! #july4th #family #slipnslide #reunion NEW TO OUR CHANNEL? We are Eileen and Brown Councill. Welcome to our channel and a glimpse into our life adventure! 2020 was a year of uncertainty and change (for all of us, right?), but we overcame the challenges and decided it was time to chase our dream, to sail around the world! Did I mention that we had very NO sailing experience? Before leaving Qingdao, China, our home of 4 years, we sold almost all of our earthly possessions and started our international search to find the right sailboat that we would call "home." After 5 months of unanticipated twists and turns, we found what we were looking for, a used Leopard 44' Catamaran located in St. Lucia. So, here begins our journey, filled with unmatched excitement and honestly, a bit of trepidation as well. We have much to learn as we travel the world on our floating home and we intend to document that journey and share it with you. We are so glad you have decided to join us, and we hope that you will find our story so compelling that it will inspire you to chase your dreams too! As a viewer, we consider you to be part of our family and look forward to getting to know you. Don't hesitate to comment on our videos and ask questions. We will do our best to answer every correspondence! All we ask is that you have patience with us as we work really hard to improve our camera/video techniques and ability to tell a story. Hopefully, you will be as BLOWN AWAY from watching, as we are in experiencing and producing our adventures! HOW CAN YOU SUPPORT US? If you wish to support our video efforts, all we ask is that you SUBSCRIBE, give a THUMBS UP, SHARE our videos with your friends, AND COMMENT! WOULD YOU LIKE TO GET TO KNOW US MORE DEEPLY? It would be an honor and pleasure to deepen our relationship with you as a Patron. Hello and thanks for tuning into our Northern Sailboat Adventure. In the last episode we had found solitude in Booker Lagoon, along with some fish for dinner! In this episode we try our luck with our new prawn trap. We also stop by the famous Billy Proctor's Museum and meet the man himself.
Building our dodger and bimini, we use a Bend-Rite tubing bender, and canvas supplies from Sailrite. This tubing bender is no longer produced. You can build your own similar version using two pieces of 3/4" plywood and a router. Or you can use a stock Sailrite tubing kit or find a local metal fabricator.

In previous episodes we provisioned and prepared our sailboat for a long blue water crossing, well my friends the time to embark has finally come! Join us as we sail 750 miles in 6 days from Puerto Rico to the Bahamas. We are treated to beautiful downwind sailing running north-west in the trade winds. As an added bonus we don’t have to worry about a Gulfstream crossing! Although the sailing weather is perfect, we start experiencing intermittent autopilot failure about three days in. Sit back and experience the offshore journey with us! The dream of arriving in the Bahamas started back in Spain, 5 months and 5,300 nautical miles ago! -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Thanks to our Patrons! This is an impression of our trip from Nieuwpoort Belgium to Dover UK. We first wanted to go to Calais since current was only limited time in our favour. However, we enjoyed the day so much, we decided to head for Dover, once passed Dunkerque. Alot of current against, but wind and waves helped beat the current. It was a great Crossing of the English Channel. We sailed in our Bavaria 32 Cruiser, 10 meter sailing pleasure...
Quelle organisation ! On en rit aujourd'hui ! Moins drôle, le sauvetage d'un voilier échoué dont Pascal a été témoin lors d'une escapade à vélo. L'occasion de saluer le travail et le dévouement de la SNSM.

This week I continue my Grandpa, Granddaughter trip. As you may recall in last weeks video, I took Chazzy to New Jersey with me where I am helping care for my dad. During that trip, she and I got to spend time together with an even went into New York City and caught a Broadway playing of Hamilton. If you didn't see that video, check it out here. https://youtu.be/uvs68ECtnPc While we were in New Jersey, My Dad came home. Coming home is a massive step in his recovery and ability to get back to self-sustaining. This week I decided to take Chasity with me on a work trip I had in Chicago. We flew in early on Monday morning, arriving at about 7 am. That left us the entire day to go exploring downtown. We got the small Dillo Bikes that you rent and can pick up or drop off all over town. We visited the miracle mile shopping district, the Buckingham fountain famous from the opening scene in the old TV show "Married with Children." We then had breakfast at the Famous LA Stan's donuts where Chazzy was feeding a bird at our table. Then a great little nap and will continue our adventures in next weeks video. Be sure to tune in Next Friday as well where we will share the rest of that trip AND make our difficult treck east again while traffic in the airports was a disaster. In this jam packed episode, we sail from Formentera to Ibiza. Mick is still with us but unfortunately we the wind isn't in our favour for the sail and we have to motor most of it. We are proud of ourselves on leaving the mooring ball under sail though - something we haven't done before! We have problems with our generator not working which, with our intermittent battery problems, isn't ideal for our power situation! Ryan and Mick have a go at fixing it. Then, in true Sailing Chelsea style, our anchor gets stuck on a mysterious object which leads to a call to the emergency services (!) it's all very dramatic but makes interesting viewing to fellow sailors and says a lot about the Spanish concern for the environment! We have some scary times with our engine not turning on or off but Ryan manages to sort it, thank fully!! And Faye makes some progress with her back flip - not to be missed!! So we have to fill holes and put some fiberglass down to prepare the wood boat floor surface for paint. Glad to see this floor is coming together, working with fiberglass, expanding foam, and wood has been fun, but we are glad to be done. In a future boat, we get we know that this is one thing we will look at to make sure we don't have to do it again. For this video, we sand the boat floor to knock down any bumps that won't feel good on the feet. Then we make up a thickened resin to fill any holes, like where we drilled the floor to add expanding foam. After the resin is dry we hit it again with the sander and minus the ski locker, we are ready for paint. Blog For This Project: https://www.chrisdoeswhat.com/category/diy/boat-restoration/ Get your TotalBoat resin here: https://amzn.to/2LvZDwC In the next video, we will finish the ski locker and then on to painting to make this boat look great. The AQUON One catamaran is inspired by the elegant shape of manta rays: gracious ocean travellers who cruise long distances in perfect silence and without any apparent effort. The timeless design of AQUON One is the result of the perfect balance of comfort, beauty, and efficient performance. It brings the yacht in tune with its natural surroundings. AQUON One is a smart solar- and hydrogen-propelled power catamaran. The sustainable yacht produces its own energy through solar panels and stores it as hydrogen on board. The catamaran is optimized for maximum efficiency and features a number of innovations, redefining independent yachting and a sustainable lifestyle. Stay up to date with latest innovative developments: Website: www.aquon.ch Instagram: aquon_catamaran Facebook: @sustainableyachts
AQUON One is a zero-emissions yacht. The sustainable catamaran generates and stores its own renewable energy. It is powered by silent electric engines and allows more independence in cruising. This video explains the ship's eco-propulsion and energy system: AQUON One is a solar ship which produces renewable energy via photovoltaic cells. By means of electrolysis, energy and water are turned into green hydrogen as energy carrier / green hydrogen fuel. The hydrogen is reconverted into electricity through fuel cells, powering the silent electric engines and other electricity needs on board. This allows AQUON One to be energetically self-sufficient for several days. The hull and design of the catamaran are optimized for efficiency. As hydrogen is much lighter than diesel fuel or batteries, the constant weight of the yacht further enhances efficiency. The only exhaust of the energy process is pure and clean water vapour. This, in turn, gets used on board, and it eliminates diesel fumes or loud engine noises. AQUON One showcases Swiss innovation and redefines independent and sustainable yachting. How to use a Dinghy - Episode 22 If you are about to sail or have just chartered a boat and are looking for tips on how to use a dinghy (aka inflatable, tender, rubber duck), then this episode covers some handy tips. If you want to remember just one thing from this episode, it is this: wear your kill cord. People die from not wearing their kill cord and falling out of the dinghy. This happened to a good friend of ours - a very experienced sailor - earlier this year in the BVI. One more thing; many countries have their own safety requirements which the driver and passengers should know. Please find out the relevant laws for your country (just google it), and then you know. We shot this episode at the Bora Bora Yacht Club in Tahiti in February, on a Lagoon 52 from Dream Yacht Charter. For this episode we break it up into the following segments: Intro: 0:41 Pre-start things to know 0:54 - two-stroke or four-stroke, oars, fuel level, deck vests, stay connected to the boat until the engine is purring. POST-PUBLISH NOTE: check the water is jetting out the pilot - this cools the engine, and if it gets blocked, can cause the engine to overheat. Sometimes it just requires engine off and a piece of wire up it to clear it out, but sometimes it's a bigger issue (like a busted impeller); Starting the dinghy 02:46 - pressurise fuel bulb, pull choke if required, minimal revs, check it's in neutral, wear the kill cord (repeat, **wear the kill cord**), be ready to put the painter (ie. the rope securing the dinghy) over the front of the dinghy so it is not streaming. Driving the dinghy 04:07 - tiller-steering, turn before you burn, weight the dinghy correctly so it leans away from the swell/wind, only plane if you are light enough to do so, bring revs back to 80% once you are on the plane Stopping the dinghy 06:35 - apply a bit of power in reverse if required to pull up your dinghy (make sure it is locked to the transom), note the angle of your tiller when in reverse, approaching a dock, apply a bit of forward against the dock to keep it there, alongside pickups from the boat. Securing the dinghy 09:19 - items for the dinghy: scoop, cable, anchor. Anchors are useful to keep dinghy off the dock when required. Know your knots - round turn two half hitches on the bite is the most common. Other elements 10:35 - watch your speed through mooring fields, use a light at night, bring a VHF or mobile phone if you need to communicate. Please thumbs up and subscribe! Thanks!! Thanks to Kyle Sykes (instagram: @kylesyks and https://vimeo.com/user14906522) for the shooting and edit, and Celine Freixe (instagram: @celine.fresh and http://celinefreixe.com/) for the titles and polish. ps. The amazing CCN 102 is available for Sale in the CNI fleet.
Winds remain fickle but gradually settle southwesterly during the night of Thursday, June 6, enabling me to make Poquoson around 0400 Friday. Sleep deprivation is taking a toll as I discover the following morning that I had not secured the anchor rode properly and that it was slowly paying out(!) ... Fickle winds prevail once again as I set off for Deltaville on Sunday, and the 35-mile run turns into another overnight sail. But light winds make it easy to scull the boat into the travel lift slip a few days later.
