This week we show you the new location for SVDreamChaser and our family. We mentioned this place briefly in the past but didn't want to go into details until all the t's were crossed and the i's were dotted. And now they are. The road wasn't without a few bumps, but then again what road worth traveling is? We have found and purchased a place in Punta Gorda Florida. It is waterfront so has access for the boat right at the home. We were able to get almost everything we wanted in the house short of a 4th bedroom, but we have a plan in the event we need to do that at some point. Right now I am using a corner of one of the bedrooms as my home office and when we sail SVDdreamChaser here, I can and will likely use that as my office. We are excited as this is a new chapter for us. Deb and I haven't lived in a house now for over 8 years while we were cruising and living aboard our boat. This does not mean the sailing dream is gone. We still want to do that. We are even thinking that NOT living aboard the boat, may increase how often we sail. Frankly one of the hardest things about sailing when you do live aboard is prepping to leave the dock. We are not organized enough to have everything tucked away in it's little place. So, that means that everything must be stowed and secured before we would sail. It wasn't worth the effort unless it was a long trip we were planning. Now we are hoping that by being this close to the souther side of Florida and just 10 minutes from the time that we can hoist sails after pulling from the dock, we are hoping we will do more little trips and day sails. Now that it is hurricane season, we are actively looking for a weather window. It stinks this time of year seeing all the hurricanes spin up in the Atlantic and gulf and just work their way West which is where we would be sailing from heading to this west side of Florida across the gulf of Mexico. We hope you enjoy this episode where we take you along on the home tour, a bit about our thoughts and desires and even some funny footage of Swab. When you raise a boat kid, you don't even realize what they DON'T know. There is a bit of that in this episode when Swab had the camera and was walking around filming and talking into it. I get to see these just like you do as a viewer when I go through the footage from the cameras. In 2010 we celebrated Anthony's 12th Birthday. At that time, we were living in Boston while Cameron attended Grad School at Gordon-Conwell seminary where he majored in Biblical Languages and Old Testament. Anthony's party was on the campus near C Building. This was his Pokemon Birthday Party. Anthony has autism and was blessed to have other seminary students attend the event. His ABA therapist arranged a fun Pokemon game on the playground. We had to divide into three teams, and race into playground enclosure to find hidden pokemon. Afterwards we played Anthony's favorite game "Chase" (Tag). How to figure out your gear ratio on most cars without taking the diff cover off. We have an underpowered jeep with big tires, this needs a gear change or an engine change to overcome the larger tires that reduce our running gear ratio. Our truck with a v8 is more forgiving to changes in tire size the 2.5-liter engine in this jeep, but we have to know our current ration before we can make an educated decision on gears we need to change to. This jeep had a dana 30 and dana 35 axles so when we do change the running gear the lowest we can go is down to a 4.88. With the tire size on the jeep a 4:88 gear should give the jeep the same power it had with factory tires and a 55 MPH it should run the engine at 2300 RPM. I did have a turbo Miata with a 4.88 gearing with much smaller tires and the RPM for that car at 55 was over 3000. Would not want to run the 2.5L in the YJ Jeep at that RPM all the time but with the larger tires, it would be a 6.50 gearing. We have more videos to come for this YJ Jeep Wrangler that we include DIY exhaust and gear changes. I catch up with David Hanton from Bradford Marine and get deep and technical about protecting whats under your waterline. We dive into the typical issues with hull maintenance, osmosis in fibreglass and what causes it, how to know if it’s a big vs small problem, how to prevent and repair it and we talk about how significant the damage and repair bill can be. David shares examples of shortsighted shortcuts boat owners and tradesmen take and the extra problems they cause. We talk about the product choices for owners when it comes to anti-foul paint and the differences between budget and premium and how the life expectancies differ, the paint thats better suited to warm and cold climates and racing versus cruising application options. We discuss some of the ugly things that can happen to poorly maintained hulls and the construction materials to avoid when buying a second hand yacht. We finish up on rudders and keels and the warning signs you should pay attention to. Find out more about podcast content and sailing opportunities: https://www.oceansailingpodcast.com

Although we had planned a relaxing Labor Day holiday in Southport NC, we quickly changed plans when we learned that Hurricane Dorian's eye was heading directly towards Southport. So, we made a last minute decision to leave before the 3 pm tide shift and sail south, yes SOUTH, to our protected Bohicket Marina in Seabrook/Kiawah Island. Watch us sailing the prehurricane waters. I'm a Canadian photographer from Ottawa who got rid of everything to travel the world. I make vlogs sharing my ups and downs, and my adventures in vans, on motorbikes, and on sailboats. - Who is Champ? Champ is my handsome 14-year-old Labrador, who travelled almost everywhere with me for his whole life. He loves chin scratches, fetching sticks, and scarfing down cheeseburgers and pizza. - What camera equipment do you use? I use a Panasonic FZ2500, a DJI Mavic Pro, a Rode video micro with Deadcat, a Zihyun Crane 3 Axis Gimbal, as well as DIY tripods and lights. - What are your vehicles? I drove a 1992 Dodge Ram B350 camper van all over North America for about two years. Travelling by motorcycle made for some unique trips. I explored the Canadian Maritimes (and deserts and backroads all over the continent) on a 2002 Kawasaki KL250 Super Sherpa dual sport bike, and also rode my 1999 Yamaha V-Star XVS1100 cruiser with a Champion Escort sidecar across my home country twice. From land to water travels: I currently live and work on a 1979 Wharram Oro 47 catamaran. - What are your plans with the boat? I will fix it up, run it on nothing but green electric power, and sail off into the sunset. Stay tuned for the growing build and the adventures to come! - How do you find all these cool places we see in the videos? To gain access to my complete research and the world traveller’s map I curate during my explorations off the beaten path, you need to hit me up on Patreon. Here are a few websites I frequent: https://freecampsites.net/, https://www.campendium.com/, http://www.atlasobscura.com/, https://www.couchsurfing.com/ - How do you afford your lifestyle? I live and travel economical by using free camping and mooring, cooking my own meals, thoroughly researching products and how-to’s online, practicing a DIY approach, and being as efficient as possible with my resources. I've struggled financially for most of my life, and although I'm blessed with helpful friends and family as well as being able-bodied, white and male, I don't subscribe to the belief that you need someone footing your bills in order to pursue your passion. So, I learned that you DO need to sacrifice comfort, consistency, safety, and a traditional career but that it IS possible, worth it, and the only lifestyle that makes me happy. I make my income almost entirely by creating content for YouTube, but it's a tight budget. Ad revenue, business sponsors, affiliate links, Patreon, Paypal donations, and merchandise sales bring in about as much as a part-time job, and I'm able to make that work. When it isn't enough, I go back to regular work such as photography, videography or construction, but that takes the focus away from my own projects. - How does your dog fit into this lifestyle? It's really not as difficult as people seem to think. I spend most of the day with Champ anyways, since we enjoy similar things, like eating food and being outdoors. I let the constraint of bringing my dog with me help me make decisions about where I go and what I do, so I avoid places that ban dogs, and therefore spend more time in nature instead of in cities. - How do you make it work as a digital nomad? My electrical power set-up allows charging my camera and laptop to film and edit almost daily. For Internet access quick and reliable enough to upload my episodes a few at a time, I use coffee shops and libraries. I also use a data package on my phone (10GB), a WiFi antenna, and a WiFi booster.

We wrap up our season in the Caribbean and make our way North to Nova Scotia after a brief stop off in Bermuda. We worked hard in our 20's and 30's and built a company that has an amazing team managing it and allows us to work remotely and take time to enjoy this time with our fmaily. We love adeventure, sports and an active lifestyle but also take pleasure in a great meal or a sunset gin and tonic. Boat life is challanging and busy but we have been learning as we go and have a great appreciation for the sailing community and the willingness of others to teach and share skills. After two seasons in the Caribben we're hoping to Hangtime through the Panama Canal and onto New Zealand in 2021.
In Feb of 2015, i was looking through flights and i was trying to decide on my next adventure. I managed to stumble on cheap flights to Morocco, and being somewhere i always wanted to go... i booked them.. A quick call to my best friend and adventure buddy Irial Kennedy set the wheels in motion for one of our favourite and craziest adventures so far... climbing the highest mountain in North Africa.. Toubkal.. with little to no training, preparation.. or real clue as to what we were actually doing... Something is wrong because my water system looses pressure all the time. Then I discover my relief valve on the water boiler is leaking a bit of water and I plan to try to fix it. I think the reason for the failure is rust from a galvanized plug that rust over time and it do it incredibly much when combined with brass. I have bought the new valve at www.hedestoker.dk

The boat is constructed of exterior quality plywood, sealed with epooxy and sheathed in glass fibre and epoxy. One of the great beauties of these boats is that the ballast keel is fitted towards the end of the build, enabling the boat to be kept lower in the shed for most of the construction time. The keel and rudder are fitted shortly before launch. Thank you! Tony
We had never heard of the little known paradise that is Maupiti in French Polynesia. Visiting here is like traveling back in time, there's no big resorts, bars or tourists, just pristine water and coral, friendly locals and stunning beaches. Not many yachts visit here because the pass faces the prevailing swell and is just a tiny gap between reefs with massive constant waves - getting through here even in the ideal conditions we had was perhaps one of the scariest things we have faced on Nikau! Once inside the reef though you are truly in an untouched paradise, we got to enjoy one of our absolute favourite activities - sunset beach BBQ! We also found the local coral gardens and saw some of the most pristine coral we have seen to date! In this episode we also take you on an exploration of the town and beaches via land and drone - enjoy! We are the Robbins family sailing on our boat named Nikau. We are a family of 5. Our 3 kids are doing NZ correspondence school on board. They are growing to love it! What's not to love about 3 hours of school a day and then a different playground for the afternoon every day! We've traveled from New Zealand to Sardinia in Italy to pick up our boat and we plan over a few seasons to sail her back to New Zealand. We hope you enjoy following us on our adventures! Thanks and enjoy.
First time to sail with our camping van, from Calais France Port to Dover port. It was a great experience you should watch the video on how this huge ferry can carry a lot of cars, truck and can with camping van. We are driving around in Europe this year 2019 for almost 8 weeks and loving it. Follow our adventures by subscribing in our youtube channel. Follow us on Instagram: @mayprimdal
