** NOW SOLD** Brindabella is a 1993 Scott Jutson designed Jutson 80 that is now exclusively for sale with YOTI in Sydney. François Gabart about his iFLY15 experience: « ... It was really great! It is a new boat that I didn’t know so far. Very stable, extraordinary stable. It is extremely interesting, because You immediately see the accessibility of the boat. Almost for anyone, who does a little bit of sailing. You just jump on the boat and it is stable flying. It is even flying in light winds. In my opinion a great boat to access flying on the water / foiling. » (...) « The boat is easy to control. As a matter of fact. At the rudder, it goes all straight in a civilized way » (...) « There is just to let the boat go by itself, stabilize itself, and this is super enjoyable. » (...) « And then I think the big, big highlight is it’s accessibility. It's true, and it's an important issue. Because today only some few sailors have the chance to fly on the water, but we must try to democratize as much as possible, and that as many people as possible can experience that awesome sensation of flying. It's great, and this is indeed one of the boats allowing it. » Its unique active foil control technology FlySafe® makes the iFLY15 fast and at the same time easier to control. Stable flight is key for both, high performance and accessibility. Speed is nothing without control. more Info: http://iflysail.com Video: by Horue Movie #FrancoisGabart #iFLY15 #Foiling #FlySafe #Catamaran #Sail #ActiveFoilControl #Foil #Hydrofoil #FlySafe #Katamaran

Completing Arabella's hull is something we are eagerly striving for. With this installment we cross a milestone in that goal. All of Arabella's frames that can currently go in, are finally installed. Once we have completed the planking process, the last seven sets of frames (currently blocked by the molds) will go in. Making these sawn frames was an interesting exercise in learning a new construction technique and Alix got the opportunity to tackle the process with these frames in the stern. While working on these, Steve and Ahmed worked on building a rack to store our cedar, which has up until now been taking up the majority of the space in our garage. With this lumber out of the garage we are able to put the Bridgeport and metal lathe to proper use. Both of which will be crucial for one of our upcoming tasks! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sign up for our email newsletter: http://eepurl.com/hn3Qyv Acorn to Arabella is a boat building project taking place in Granby, Massachusetts. Steve and Alix started as amateur boat builders building their own 38' wooden boat in their backyard: designer William Atkin's Ingrid with a Stormy Petrel's gaff rig. These videos follow the journey from tree felling, to lumber milling, to lofting, to the lead keel pour and beyond—sharing details of the woodworking, carpentry, metal smithing, tool building, and tool maintenance that wooden boats command. This ultimate DIY project will continue well past launch, when they will travel and learn to cruise aboard the boat that they've built. Just kidding about all that, this channel is about a Siberian Laika named Akiva. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Acorn to Arabella wishlist: http://www.acorntoarabella.com/acorn-to-arabella-wishlist Jamestown Distributors Referral: If you are going to shop at Jamestown Distributors, please consider using our Total Boat referral code: http://totalboat.refr.cc/steveandalixa?t=tg FOLLOW US: Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/acorntoarabella Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/acorntoarabella/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/acorntoarabella Website: http://www.acorntoarabella.com

This is probably my greatest and most intense sailing experience so far. I am driving without a stop from Fécamp in France to Porto in Portugal. In the end it is almost exactly 6 days and 773 nm, partly with faboulous sailing wind, but also once very rough on the Bay of Biscay, when I am coming to the Galician coast. In particular, interval sleeping is a big challenge for the solo sailor, which Needs to be mastered very well on such cruises. Enjoy the movie! Being a 32 year old boat much of the original gear onboard is starting to break. After breaking two blocks it was time for an update on the deck gear. Being in Mexico for a while we finally had the time to get the job done! We are a Swedish couple who wanted a different kind of life. So we moved aboard our sailboat Ran, a custom built Beason 40 in aluminium and untied the lines in the middle of the Swedish winter in January 2016. Hi everyone! I would never believe the most scary yet beautiful sailing experince in my 27 years of sailing would happen in the waters right outside my hometown! I want to state that I under no circumstandses encourage anyone to head out in a storm force 10. On the other hand I will say that this is an amazing way to build confidence in yourself and your yacht. But to do this you will have to trust your boat and gear 100%, and make sure she can take it. To get to that level you will have to try in more and more wind and waves and observe how the boat, and not the least yorself, copes in the different conditions. And when the day comes you will at some time man up and go for it. If you dont trust yourself and the boat, but still force yourself to try, you will most lightly have a very frightening experience that will sit with you for a long time, maybe ruining your joy for the sport. So go prepeared. Anyway, step onboard and join me for this insane offshore rollercoaster ride! This week we share our adventures sailing the Canarie Islands. The next island on our list is La Palma, a charming island to the north west. We once again had an amazing experience in this colorful place. The anchorages were great with spectacular views of colorful buildings and miles and miles of Banana plantations. Tazacorte is a charming little town where the local fishermen strutted their stuff at the little marina, hauling out vast numbers of Tuna. We had no idea how they could possibly carry so many Tuna in such little boats. Visiting the Old Town is an absolute must. The cobble stone alleys with colorful flowers adorning the windows were truly amazing, any photographers dream. We prepared our Leopard 45 Catamaran cruising yacht to sail around the world. We want to visit off the beaten tack places and need to prepare for ice bergs, storms, heavy seas, as well as nice tranquil tropical waters... Thank you for all our subscribers! Check this out - we find a deserted communist fortress as we hike 18km from Kotor to Tivat, seriously one of the world's best hikes. We set sail for Greece and pick up an unexpected stowaway.

Spyhop II is no longer for sale by JMYS. Spyhop II is a 2012 Selene 56 widebody trawler style yacht. Spyhop II’s spacious interior, exceptional storage and ease of boarding/disembarking make her an excellent live aboard and full-time cruising vessel. Her light teak interior layout features three staterooms: a midship, full beam master with ensuite full head, a spacious guest room with twin beds to port and VIP stateroom with queen berth forward. The guest full head is to starboard across the companionway from the guest stateroom. Entry to the cockpit is through the port and starboard boarding doors at cockpit sole level or from the swim platform. She can also be boarded on the starboard side through the Portuguese bridge. The spacious entry level saloon is wrapped in warm teak and features an L-shaped settee covered in Ultraleather. The saloon and galley merge together to complete the entry area. The large, raised pilothouse has excellent visibility and is equipped with a Llebroc helm chair and direct access to the flybridge. Guests will appreciate the comfortable accommodations forward and below with a shared separate head and shower. The smaller cabin to port has two bunk beds and the VIP in the forepeak has a large island berth. The master is amidships and has two entries – from the forward landing or off the saloon galley deck. A large island berth with plenty of lockers and drawers and it is connected to a ensuite head and shower. The walk-in, full height engine room has two access points: primarily through a full-size door adjacent to the Master stateroom, or through two hatches in the saloon. She has easy service access for inspecting the main engine, generator, seacocks and filters. The covered flybridge has two helm chairs for navigating with a view. There is excellent seating and entertaining aloft and connects aft to the boat deck with the RIB and crane. For additional details pertinent to this video please read the description below. An important skill for close quarter maneuvering is learning how to back your boat. Boat handling in reverse requires a different touch. The feel of how you go through the water and how you visually keep oriented is not as intuitive. We live in a world that is primarily forward focused and don’t consider as much to take a look behind us. The same is true even on a slow trawler; our attention is on what is in front of us, not what we have left in the wake. Running for a few boat lengths in reverse and keeping your course straight is not as easy as going forward but is easy to learn and this video was created to give you some pointers. While driving backwards on a full displacement single engine trawler with a deep keel you may find that your heading starts to turn into a slight curve due to prop walk. What can you do to stop curving and get back in alignment? There are two easy methods you can practice to re-align and straighten your position: • Shift into forward and correct your movement by steering with your rudder to get back on course • If you have a bow thruster, you can remain in reverse and “steer” with your thruster to guide where your stern is heading Another technique that you can work on as a skill is “crabbing”. Being able to keep your boat moving side to side is easy to learn and fun to practice once you get a feel for how your prop wash and thrusters need to work together to get you moving sideways. We suggest going out into open water, away from the constraints of a marina, where you have plenty of room to maneuver and practice backing up. It’s a smart move to post someone on the stern who can help keep you clear of any obstructions. Knowing that you can guide your boat in reverse and correct your course to straighten will make it easier for you to learn how to back into your slip which is the subject of our next video.
