EPISODE 2: OUR GREEK ISLANDS LIVE-ABOARD ADVENTURE BEGINS - IN IOS 🦋 Please Like, Subscribe and hit the notifications bell for future uploads! In this episode we visit the beautiful Greek island of Ios where we first picked up the vlogging camera and began our live-aboard family dream of sailing the Greek islands! Laura explores the island by foot (she likes to ‘scope out’ the scenery, sights and amenities and get organised/stock up before we start to explore places together). There are sunrises and sunsets, stunning beach shots and scenic views, a chit chats regarding our homeschooling approach, and a little boat-fitness to boot!! It was a very difficult and emotional journey to be where we are now and we are so happy that we defied the odds to live our dream. We aim to inspire, excite your inner travel bugs, give you itchy feet, and entertain you with our vlogs - with hilarious rookie-sailor footage (Laura is a complete novice), live-aboard homeschooling family life, the honest ups and downs of getting to grips with this crazy 😝 lifestyle, and beautiful scenic videography - showing you all the amazing places we sailed to, from Ios all the way to Rhodes..... Which is where the awesome production team from Channel 5’s documentary series “My New Greek Life” then joined the Holly Blue crew to shoot our story - this series was aired recently (along with other unique stories) on Channel 5, Tuesday 11th Feb at 10pm as part of a 4 part documentary following our new life. We have SO much more planned for this coming year - our next sailing adventure kicks off in May 2020 - and we welcome you and hope you hop on board to watch for another summer of sunshine and exploring! Thankyou for watching!! Please stay tuned and we hope you enjoy the ride - if you are interested in becoming part of the dream you can also find and support us on Patreon. All American Marine, Inc. (AAM) has completed construction and launched an innovative aluminum catamaran, that will serve an integral role patrolling both Texas State and federal waters for the law enforcement division of Texas Parks and Wildlife. The 80’ x 27’ OAL Captain Murchison features twin CAT C18 ACERT D Engines, with Hamilton Jet HM 521 waterjets and is built to USCG Subchapter T standards. The state-of-the-art hydrofoil assisted vessel, from Teknicraft Design, will combine innovative design features critical to modern maritime law enforcement. One revolutionary feature is the inclusion of Teknicraft ’s Rapid RHIB launching system. This feature is integrated into the stern of the vessel and will increase safety and reduce the time and manpower required to deploy the vessels’ Willard Marine rigid hull inflatable boat (RHIB). The Capt. Murchison is also the first vessel in North America to feature Hamilton Jet's revolutionary AVX Control system, including JETAnchor capabilities. ** NOW SOLD ** Shelby is a sought after Stars and Stripes, blue hulled 1998 Beneteau 50 that is now listed exclusively for sale with the team at YOTI on the Gold Coast. The Beneteau 50 combines a Bruce Farr designed hull with a tried and tested layout, proven over thousands of miles. Her fast hull has balanced lines for directional control and is easily driven by her in-mast furling mainsail and furling genoa, great for short-handed sailing. Her current owner upgraded her in 2018 for his dream cruise to the Far East and back to the Gold Coast. These upgrades include new Stainless Steel rigging, Staysail, 6 pax Life raft, Highfield rib with outboard, Dometic 16,000 BTU Air Conditioning (saloon and owners’ cabin) and saloon upholstery. Additionally, upgrades in 2019 include a new Mainsail, Genoa, Lithium batteries, and upgrade of electrical charging system. On deck, the very generous cockpit is well shaded, safe and great for entertainment. The twin wheels make for easy access from the bathing platform to the cockpit and interior. Her mainsheet traveller is forward of the cockpit, out of harm’s way and her electric winches make for easy sail handling, all from the safety of the cockpit. Storage for all cruising gear is plenty full, thanks also to the very large forward sail locker. Her owner’s version features a well appointed master cabin forward, with double berth to port and sofa and vanity to starboard. The head and shower are two separate compartments, each entered from the cabin or via interconnecting door. Both aft cabins offer substantial double berths with own ensuite head with shower. (The port aft cabin is used for additional storage and the head features a small washing machine instead of the WC, which can easily be reinstated.) The Beneteau 50 features a substantial saloon and open plan galley, with central island that serves as additional galley worktop and storage as well as part of the seating arrangement. Cooking is on the gimballed Force 10 gas hob and oven and perishables stored in the substantial freezer and fridge. Aft of the galley is the dedicated navigation area with electrical panel; the stereo, VHF and HF radio mounted on the opposite side, at the rear end of the settee. This vessel is fully equipped for world cruising, in comfort and safety. Raymarine instrumentation, including radar, AIS and Axiom plotters at each helm, Ipad with Raymarine instrument integration and Icom HF radio. She has a 6.5 kw Fisher Panda generator for charging and air-conditioning, 110v and 240v inverters, isolation transformer, bow thruster and very large fuel and water tanks. Shelby has just been slipped (Feb ’20) at the Boatworks, Gold Coast Marine Precinct for new antifouling, hull polish and prop speed. Her mast was lifted out to install a new mainsail furling mandrel and service of the internal furling components. This is a great opportunity to obtain a very realistically priced, pedigree Bluewater cruiser, from the Beneteau yard, with fabulous recent upgrades and maintenance already done.

In this episode it's sailing to Planitis, Greece. A little bit different this episode where we are just at sea and take you with us on our sail. We start off with some good wind which suddenly drops off before coming back to give some great sailing conditions. As normal a bit of naked sailing, making sure there's no white bits and bikini marks. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you found it informative or entertaining please give it a thumbs as it helps get YouTube to promote it outside of the existing subscribers. Progress is being made on Arabella every day, but that last time we checked in on what we have done up to now was about two and a half years ago. We felt that a recap of the last couple of years, to see all the work that has been done, would be a really fun trip down memory lane while we get ready for the planking party we have scheduled in a couple of weeks. So much has happened in the last couple of years that we actually had to divide it into two parts! We went from a bare keel timber to a framed boat in less than a year! All while recording and providing videos of the progress (not a small feat in and of itself!). We are so proud to see her standing where she is now and ready to be planked. Seeing everything that has gone into that process is really a fantastic feeling. From laying the keel to building up the bow and stern timbers, to pouring the lead keel and getting the molds stood up and frames bent in, there is a lot to go over. We hope you enjoy this trip down memory lane as much as we have and that this gets you just as excited to see what is to come! Thank you all for the support we have received and we are very thankful to have you all along for the journey! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sign up for our email newsletter: http://eepurl.com/hn3Qyv Acorn to Arabella is a boat building project taking place in Granby, Massachusetts. Steve and Alix started as amateur boat builders building their own 38' wooden boat in their backyard: designer William Atkin's Ingrid with a Stormy Petrel's gaff rig. These videos follow the journey from tree felling, to lumber milling, to lofting, to the lead keel pour and beyond—sharing details of the woodworking, carpentry, metal smithing, tool building, and tool maintenance that wooden boats command. This ultimate DIY project will continue well past launch, when they will travel and learn to cruise aboard the boat that they've built. Just kidding about all that, this channel is about a Siberian Laika named Akiva. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Acorn to Arabella wishlist: http://www.acorntoarabella.com/acorn-to-arabella-wishlist Jamestown Distributors Referral: If you are going to shop at Jamestown Distributors, please consider using our Total Boat referral code: http://totalboat.refr.cc/steveandalixa?t=tg FOLLOW US: Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/acorntoarabella Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/acorntoarabella/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/acorntoarabella Website: http://www.acorntoarabella.com

Street Market Provisioning in Guatemala for a Sailing Adventure (Ep.101 Sailing w/the Litzenbergers)
This may be one of my favorite videos! I know we aren't sailing, but part of cruising is traveling and living in different places. This means we have to get used to doing the normal everyday chores, like grocery shopping, in different and new ways. It may take hours longer to get done, but it's fun to bop around and buy fresh fruit and veggies from my local 13 year old fruit man, bread from a Guatemalan french bakery, and eat at restaurants while we watch the bustling streets of Fronteras. Hope you all enjoy!!
Why are leaving the things you love so damn hard? https://www.sailingnandji.com/ In this episode of Sailing Nandji, it is nearly Christmas time and for the first time since leaving Australia in July 2017 we have the opportunity to go home and see friends and family. Yosh has not been back to Oz in over 2.5 years and Bonita only returned briefly over a 1.5 years ago. We had been working towards being able to do this since changing our sailing plans mid 2019 and finally the final days were upon us. Heading to Oz, means Marley can not come with us due to strict quarantine laws in Australia, instead we drop him off to a carer who will look after him whilst we are away. And then there were two as we say our goodbyes to Marley. Leaving our shadow in Phuket, we sail across Phang Na bay to the Krabi province where we plan to leave Nandji. With no sailing experience, we bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off from Australia sailing to the Pacific! We have since cruised through New Caledonia, Vanuatu, the Solomon islands, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and then onto the boat yard in Malaysia to prepare for the years to come. With a new engine, we continued onto Thailand, then back down into Indonesia and specifically West Sumatra to live the island life and chase the surf. With our Sailing plans changing, we have returned to Thailand to wait for the weather and begin our journey to the northern route of the Indian Ocean to Sri Lanka before heading south to Chagos and across the Indian Ocean once cyclone season has finished and the trade winds begin! The adventure is just beginning as we plan to sail our Nandji girl around the world!! We departed the east coast of Australia in July 2017 and have since sailed over 10000nm offshore. We have explored some amazing countries and met some beautiful people along the way. We have experienced so many different and diverse cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of nowhere, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our lives doing it! The adventure is just beginning as we sail West with the trades around the World! Exciting times: narrow shallow entrance at night, depth challenges getting into Spanish Wells, piloted through infamous Devils Backbone passage. And enjoyable times exploring Dunmore Town on Harbour Island and Spanish Wells. Our late decision to depart Nassau for Eleuthera meant we had a nervous entry into the very narrow and shallow channel of Royal Island Harbour, at low tide, in the dark and no leading lights! Once in, we hid from the next strong weather system for 2 days before heading the short but challenging distance to Spanish Wells. We literally bumped our way there, over the shallows! Rather than stopping in Spanish Wells we took the tide and weather window to continue onto Dunmore Town on Harbour Island, hiring the piloting services of Bruno to guide us through the very tricky Devils Backbone Passage. We enjoyed the delights of Dunmore Town and its fantastic beach for almost a week, while again hiding from another weather system. We nervously completed the passage back to Spanish Wells without a pilot, simply following our outward track on the plotter. Spanish Wells was a very pleasant surprise. We really enjoyed this small but prosperous little fishing community and its uniquely friendly people, before again heading south to cruise Eleuthera Peninsula. 4-14 Jan 2020
