In this video I do a test to see how difficult it is to work with compact laminate. As part of my DIY sailboat refit I continue working in the saloon (painting and varnishing). She's coming along nicely :)

Fellow boaters - I'm thrilled to share my latest project with you: MaintenanceROS! Crafted from my experiences aboard Starry Horizons, it's designed to simplify vessel and maintenance management, making life on the water even more enjoyable. Explore https://MaintenanceROS.com and enjoy an exclusive 20% discount for the first 6 months using promo code 'outchasingstars'. Seamlessly manage your boat's upkeep – let's embark on this journey together! ***** Our visit to Bora Bora turned into an amazing under the water adventure. We were a bit apprehensive given the island's touristy reputation, but the snorkeling was some of the best we’d ever seen. The water was crystal clear, there were fish everywhere and Amy’s biggest dream came true when we got to swim with Manta Ray’s! All in all, we did 6 snorkel trips + 1 dive trip, swimming with all manner of black tipped reef sharks, lemon sharks, barracudas, sting rays and more fish than we could keep track of! It wasn’t all fun in paradise though as we had to get creative to fill our butane bottle and got to experience the joy of South Pacific time trying to clear out of French Polynesia. But after three months in French Polynesia, the good definitely outweighed the bad and Bora Bora helped us leave on a high note! Well I was looking at lights on Amazon for my office/studio, I then got to reading about how setting your exposure on your camera can help. Well my camera is my phone, but I was able to make a few changes to improve my green screen. It is not the best, but I still think this is really good for a ceiling fan light, a light bulb in an umbrella, Walmart green material, and a phone camera. Well I thought I would try to make a temporary light to improve the contract between me and my green screen. Well it did not work that well, I may need more separation from me and the screen. I think it will help during the day when I can pull light in to the other side of the green screen from the window. It is fun learning, I have had no formal training doing any of this. ***** Raiatea and Tahaa are surrounded by one large barrier reef which essential turned two islands into one big adventure. First up was a visit to Marae Taputapuatea in Opoa in Riatea. This is one of the largest and well preserved marae complexes in all of French Polynesia and was a fascinating way to learn more about Polynesian culture. Next up was a personalized guided tour up a river with our new friend James where we learned more about the island and picked up some fruit and coconuts. Our last stop on Raiatea took us up to Uturoa for some reprovisioning and a surprise run in with a spear fishing tournament. After Uturoa, we headed up to Tahaa. The main attraction was a coral garden which unfortunately turned out to be a bit disappointing, but at least the view from the air turned out to be well worth it! If the collar is not flashing red, you can gently shake the device to automatically bring it out of sleep mode, or press the reset button with the included pin. The collar is fitted with a motion sensor that turns on the device when movement is detected - you can hear the motion sensor rattling inside the collar. 1) Press the reset hole on the collar receiver with the included pin, or something small like a paper clip. A beep will sound, and the indicating light will turn on. 2) Immediately press the y button on the front of the remote transmitter (the right hand button) once and the receiver collar will beep indicating the 2 devices have been paired, and the indicating light will turn off. Note you need to press the y button to pair the device within 10 seconds of the 1st beep for pairing to be completed. If the device does not pair successfully, press the rest button with the included pin and try again. Test your device to make sure it works on each mode. When testing vibrate or shock modes, ensure that the level setting is set to at least level 1. Note the default is 0 and needs to be moved to 1 otherwise you will not feel any vibration or shock. Pairing an additional collar also, if you pair the remote & receiver on channel 1, it will only work when the remote is set to channel 1. To pair channel 2, change you remote to channel 2 and repeat the steps above to pair a second collar.

Well, this is one of the first projects I outsourced in the new house, we had Canterbury Farms Nursery "http://canterburyfarmsnursery.com/" came out and give our backyard more of a tropical feel. Loved working with Canterbury Farms Nursery their staff was very professional answering all my stupid questions and their prices are very resalable. I created this video not only to document things we do with our house but to give Canterbury Farms Nursery a non sponsored referral. Well the title is a joke, but I thought I would play around with the green screen functionality on Filmora. I had green material leftover from the ATV speaker box, just having fun. "Sorry, Low Volume" I am really wanting to try a green screen, so I thought I would try it with a small piece of fabric I had left over from the fiberglass speaker box we built. Well it worked better that I thought it would. If I would have had more lighting I would have my image would have been sharper, but not bad at all. The cost of the little piece of felt I had left would run you a few dollars, add a few lights you have around the house, and you have yourself a working studio. Danielle and I were looking for me a desk, we both have offices now, and my desk is to small. We did not want to spend that much, and nothing online under $1000 looked very good. I wanted something simple, but really like real wood, so she suggested that we build a desk out of reclaimed lumber. We thought about sources of reclaimed wood, and agreed pallets would be the easiest to find. The pallets in the video we found the same day listed on Facebook. If we would have been more picky I guess we could have found newer pallets, but I wanted rustic. Seamlessly manage your boat's upkeep – let's embark on this journey together! ***** One of our coolest experiences in French Polynesia happened in Huahine when we got to experience a French Polynesian Heiva. After hearing about the Heiva for months we knew we couldn’t miss out on seeing it. Turns out, it was a song and dance cultural extravaganza that we’ll remember forever. But before we got to see the Heiva, we had a few more fun adventures on Huahine first. We got to meet Paul, an incredibly friendly local who welcomed us to the island and gifted us some delicious coconuts. It took Amy a few tries, but now we know how to open them! Huahine is also famous for their blue eyed eels so we set a day aside to go find them and then do a bit of hiking. NB! The video only just got done uploading. It migth not be available in HD/4K where you're located yet. If not simply check back in a few hours :) In this video I paint the galley, build part of a vast oil tank (made from wood and epoxy) and brag about my new heater + dehumidifier. Update on the portligths: I've heard back from the company. Yes, I got a reply on a Sunday evening! That is fantastic customer service! The gap is totally normal. I need to use the screws to "pull in" the portlights. It has its pros and cons compared to the star-shower laser Christmas light. For the price of the light I would say it is worth buying, and the company will help you if you have issues. I was contacted by this company to do a review of their light. This new light can be found here: https://amzn.to/2CmeHGJ. The company has added great detail about there light, and as you can see in the video, it is bright. I did not edit this video, nor was the surrounding light helpful to show just how bright this Christmas light was. We get loads of emails every day asking for practical advice on common 'how-to' jobs around the boat. Maintaining a teak deck is one of those jobs! This video showcases Captain Simon doing our teak deck maintenance using Boracol, an anti-mold and anti-fungal wood treatment. The E-MOTION RUDDER DRIVE is a revolution in Yachting. The Hanse 315 e-motion rudder drive was developed in cooperation with the partners Jefa and Torqeedo and has an electric engine, which not only replaces the diesel engine and its components but also the complete saildrive. A 4 kW electric engine and a folding propeller have been integrated into the rudder shaft. The advantage of this system is the significantly improved maneuverability as well as the emission-free and almost silent propulsion. The integrated engine in the rudder directs the thrust into the respective direction of the rudder. The extended rudder angle of 100 degrees in total allows the Hanse 315 with emotion rudder drive to turn from standstill on her own axis - forward and backward. When docking and taking off parallel to the pier, the stern of the yacht can be pulled precisely to the dock, which is particularly advantageous in strong winds and narrow ports. More advantages of the new Hanse 315 e-motion rudder drive are: - 100 kg less weight - No opening in the hull for the saildrive, less drag when sailing - No noise - No diesel smell - Low maintenance (simple system, less moving parts) - The batteries can be recharged at the dock The system consists of two to four lithium ion batteries, which propel the yacht at smooth sea and 4.5 knots up to 30 nautical miles. At lower speeds, the range is extended significantly. The maximum speed is 6.1 knots and thereby not much less than with the conventional diesel engine. With the integrated quick-chargers, the new Hanse 315 e-motion rudder drive is fully recharged in just 3 hours and ready for the next emission-free adventure. More infos about the New Hanse 315 here: goo.gl/d7zJsV Style, class and a certain degree sex appeal. Can we expect virtues like this from a sailing yacht? In our opinion: absolutely! We focused precisely on these properties during the development of the Hanse 315. With high-quality equipment, a performance people have come to expect from a Hanse and with a confident style that leaves no questions unanswered. With you and most likely also among your jetty neighbours. When we flew back to Tahiti, it was with the newlyweds in tow for the first part of their honeymoon! We rented a car to go explore the island of Tahiti, enjoying several lush gardens and waterfalls and our favorite stop of the day, the Arahoho Blow Hole where we worried we awoke a sleeping dragon. Next we set sail for Moorea to do some hiking, snorkeling and our first ever swim with Sting Rays! To top it all off, Amy and Liz got a quick lesson in Polynesian dancing.
