Putting disc brake on car, show son how to do his own maintenance as he prepares to leave for college. In this video we put brake on a Lincoln LS with basic tools. Tools: Large C Clap 12mm wrench and 12mm socket Jack and Jack Stand
At least that's the decision we made after we broke the torque wrench hammering these guys down. It was a bit of a project all told but we got 'er done and were glad we did because we ended up discovering and righting some hardware wrongs once we'd dug into the project. Note to viewers: Check your keel bolts every 3-5 years. Thanks to the boys at http://www.perdidosailor.com/ for coaching us DIY'ers along. Enjoy!

Full article is available in Multihulls World #147: https://www.multihulls-world.com/review/catamaran/bali-40-an-innovative-and-easy-going-40-footer Second hand test in Multihulls World #175: https://www.multihulls-world.com/review/catamaran/bali-40/41-vive-la-open-space Launched back in 2015, the 4.0 was the smallest boat in the Bali range, and continued her career under the title of the 4.1. In total, more than 300 units were built in 5 years. The second-hand market is now open to this best-seller, recently replaced by the Bali 4.2. This catamaran was aimed at the typical charter market in her four-cabin version, though was nevertheless available in an Owner's version. And it’s just as well, because the Bali 4.0 is a very relevant choice for a cruising or a sabbatical year project; this catamaran is perfectly suited for a couple and two children and offers unusual living volume for this size. The same goes for the usable surface areas offered by the deck plan. Offshore, her limited length won’t provide the same level of comfort as a unit 5 feet longer, but she’s easy to handle. Another nice factor is the significantly lower maintenance cost. The excellent surprise that the smallest of the Balis reserves for you is that she actually goes pretty well under sail! Admittedly, her high freeboard and the shallow depth of the keels limit upwind potential. But as soon as you can ease the sheets a little, the Bali quite frankly comes alive. During our test – on a boat with folding propellers, just to be clear - we found her very lively in 12 knots of wind at 100° to the apparent. The helm station is simply raised up a little: it is comfortable, with an elegant and very direct steering wheel working via cable drives. All sail handling/trimming is within the helmsman’s reach. The 4.0 offers astonishing volumes and an innovative pod organization with a wide opening front window - a Plexiglas panel slides vertically with three positions - combined with the opening aft bulkhead and opening lateral bay windows. Okay, you all called it. It's time to haul out. "Uncle!" we cried. But, we were proud of the demo we accomplished DIY style. Now it's time to take that same attitude to the shipyard and do this job with the professionals at www.perdidosailor.com so we learn how to do it right, but save time (and our fingers!) in the process. Season Two, that's a wrap!

Drawer system / sleeping platform for Land Cruiser 80-series or most other 4WD's. It's tested for 2 years while overlanding, and also cheap because of parts you can get in every hardware store.
This video is kinda boring so please consider it a beta version. It's intended for the deep understanding about pneumatic coaxial cannons, and a description of some aspects about my own coaxial cannon, and the discoveries I made with it. Many things remain unclear, but the one that may be most useful for DIYers is the use of a bike pump as source of the main body, rear cap and piston. Also, the use of silicone as sealing face seems to work far better than the all common rubber option. If you have read the description so far, hopefully this video won't bore you too much...it's kinda long...

Conditions have settled down today so the team took the opportunity to clean the boat, check that there were no problems and do the smalls bits of maintenance work. To undertake the crewed around-the-world record is as much about the human adventure as it is a technical and sporting challenge. The men and women working alongside Dona Bertarelli and Yann Guichard at Spindrift racing have been preparing this race against the clock for almost three years. The target: to sail around the world in less than 45 days, 13 hours and 42 minutes. The tough record they will try to beat was set by Loïck Peyron and his crew in 2012 on Banque Populaire V, which was renamed Spindrift 2 a year later. The French-Swiss team decided to use the same 40 m trimaran because they believed that the boat could be further optimised, a task that sailors, engineers and technicians at the team have been working on ever since. After countless hours of work at the boatyard and 40,000 nautical miles of racing and training, the Spindrift racing-prepared trimaran is all set to go. The team will officially go on stand-by on October 19th and wait for the ideal weather window. Sebastien Marsset climb the mast for technical maintenance. The displacement (12,800 lbs/5.8 t) is unchanged: this is half that of most catamarans of this length! And it is precisely the compact size, ease of handling and ease of maintenance that are also the assets of this superb machine. The ORC 42 is always fun to helm and performs well racing. The uncluttered styling of the layout, combined with meticulous ergonomics, does not prevent the cocooning feeling that is appreciated when blue water cruising. ► TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS Builder: Marsaudon Composites Length: 42’7” (12.98 m) Beam: 24’4” (7.42 m) Light displacement: 12,800 lbs (5.8 t) Draft: 5’3” (1.60 m) Mainsail area: 603 sq ft (56 m²) Solent: 370 sq ft (34.4 m²) Engines: 2 x 30 HP ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 500 multihulls tests!
