The Ocean Club welcomed VIP guests onboard the luxury motor yacht Caviar, for two incredible days of SailGP racing on Sydney Harbour. On 17 and 18 December 2021, the Ocean Club welcomed VIP guests on board the luxury motor yacht Caviar for two incredible days of SailGP racing. For the third time, SailGP lit up Sydney Harbour with some of the best sailing seen from the F50s, with high winds on the final day making for particularly exciting viewing. Tom Slingsby and the Australian team won the Sydney event, opening up a two-point championship lead in front of their US rival for the finals in March 2022 in San Francisco. Both afternoons, our guests enjoyed some of the most incredible experiences they’ve ever had out on the water, accompanied by exquisite Laurenti French Champagne and wine, gin and vodka from Wine and Only, as well as local beer from White Bay Beer. Naturally, drinks were served with the finest black caviar from Simon Johnson and the freshest oysters and prawns from Musumeci Seafoods. On both days, over fifty guests enjoyed Sydney’s oldest but newest charter yacht, Caviar. Built in 1955, Caviar started life as an Australian minesweeper before being decommissioned. Many years later, she has been brought back to life by a passionate owner, determined for her to become one of Sydney’s most charming charter experiences. “Inviting our Ocean Club guests on board Caviar, one of Australia’s most unique luxury charter yachts, for exceptional views of the F1 racing on the harbour was such a pleasure,” said Hillary Buckman, Managing Director of Ocean Media. We would like to give special thanks to our valued Elite sponsors. Benetti Yachts, Pantaenius Yacht Insurance, Tourism Australia and ACME Quality Marine Clothing, together with our Ocean Partners including local craft beer from White Bay Beer, Cotswold InOut Furniture, Analu Luxury Italian Interiors and Laurenti Champagne. The Ocean Club tender service was supplied by Windcraft’s new RYCK tender, and our stunning 1955 luxury charter motor yacht Caviar and her exceptional crew offered us the best platform to view the exciting two days on Sydney Harbour – you simply can’t get this close to the action any other way. Ocean Media was again proud to be appointed for the third year, an Official Supplier by SailGP. www.oceanmedia.com.au www.oceanmagazine.com.au www.sailsmagazine.com.au www.oceanclubinternational.com www.sailgp.com 📸 Roman Liebich Photography

We had a great time camping at Storkollen LA/BU-129 536moh with bonfire and nice weather before the storm was heading our way. Coastline Hopping south in Turkey, Winter Sailing, Dodging bad weather, dragging anchor, Fishing, Local Markets, Snowy mountains, Sea Sickness in Big Swell and making new friends. In this episode we make our way from Gocek to Fethiye, to Kas, to Kekova. We leave Gocek unexpectedly to dodge some pretty nasty weather and safely make our way to Fethiye in a nice protected anchorage, but little did we know our anchorage was just one big layer of sludgy mud that's pretty hard to ger holding in. We the make our way to Kas, where we meet up with some new boating friends we had been chatting to online and do some exploring around the town Then we make our way even further south to Kekova and get stuck in some big swell. Little drama in the mountains while I was hiking on the mountain ridge of Moleta de s´Esclop. Already on my last third of this lovely round-course I stumbled over some rocks, slipped and landed in the grass. I hit my arm and my leg rather badly and I had some painful minutes collecting my thoughts.
Hi Everyone! This week we have decided to have a live chat to share what our sailing plans are for 2022. We also want to follow up on last week's video - The Cost of Sailing, with any additional questions you may have for us. We are currently in Bocas Del Toro, Panama and we are excited to see what the future has in store for us! Hope you can join us for tomorrow! Cheers!
We kick off this episode with a double helping from down under as Sydney plays host two two big crowd pullers. First up was SailGP, the penultimate stage in the second season where there was plenty of drama as the pressure built ahead of the million dollar finale in March. The Rolex Sydney Hobart is an offshore classic and after the pandemic forced organisers to cancel last year’s event, there was a keen appetite this year among sailors and spectators alike for the Boxing Day special. According to the competitors, this year’s 600 mile race to Tasmania turned out to be one of the toughest ever. But the history books will mark this race as special for another reason, that of the spectacular achievement of one man and his crew in particular. We visit the 50+ knot club in Namibia as the speed sailing season delivers some outrageous performances in the windsurfing world, as well as seeing what happens when it all goes to rats. For 50 years the Youth Sailing World Championships has played host to what have become some of the biggest names in sailing. This time it was the turn of Oman to host the event where oodles of talent was clearly on tap. If you'd like to know what the future holds, this event had plenty of answers. Plus, we bring you up to speed with an update on the America’s Cup and preview of the new AC40 in build and talk to the man at the top in World Sailing about the paralympic plan. Finally finding a home in the Pacific that will have us for an extended period of time Fiji is our dream come true, with great internet, food, islands and most importantly the friendliest people you will meet we are so very happy to have made it to this Pacific paradise. One thing that has been polluting 'Merewether' for some time now is the galvanised wind generator pole, in this episode we finally make the decision to discard the old very worn 'breezy' as we had named him. After getting our broken starter motor fixed we start to make our way through Fiji stopping off one of the remotest anchorages we've been to in some time. Heading into hurricane/cyclone season we also need to start moving quickly to find potential shelter if one of these nasty storms comes through. Episode #224 : Season 8 : The Hawaiian Adventures Hello Friends, On this weeks episode I awake under anchor at Kaneohe Bay to the lush smell of the rainforest blowing into the cabin from a light offshore breeze. After a beautiful sunrise and some morning coffee I head over to He'eia Boat Harbor to pick up Kimberly Wood ( https://linktr.ee/Saltybutterfly ) , professional photographer and all around adventurer, to join me for some exploration of Kaneohe Bay. Our first stop was to check out the famous Sandbar at Kaneohe. The Sandbar is a large submerged "beach" or sorts that at low king tides is exposed but for most of its life it sits in 2-4 feet of water. It is a popular boating site with the locals and a very unusual experience. We went on to explore several of the countless coral reefs that around scattered around the bay and saw a great number of fish, a spotted eagle ray, and sea turtles. After dinner we did some night snorkeling and had some fun encounters with a schooling banner fish who kept coming around to check me out. The Sailing Family will continue! We still have about 6 months of footage to share as we sail up past the Whitsunday islands and go as far north as Lizard Island. We then turn around and blast south to Sydney for Christmas and New Years Eve. We give you a sneak peak here, but it will be worth hanging around for - and we're not quitting! We might be selling Archer, but that doesn't mean we won't buy a new boat. Sailing is a big part of our lives and we all want that to continue. Speaking of which, I (Seth) am excited about my new job in the boating industry. I want to thank HH Catamarans for inviting me to join the team. OUR ROUTE: We departed the Boston area of the United States and sailed south to the Caribbean and then west through the Panama Canal. We have dealt with massive repairs in the South Pacific, the Coronavirus lock down in New Zealand, a Category 5 Cyclone in Fiji, and now we are cruising in Australia. OUR PAST: You may remember us as "SV Honeymoon?" Ten years ago ("before kids"), we sailed a Lagoon 380 named Honeymoon halfway around the world to Sydney, Australia. Along the way we shared our experiences via YouTube and, by happenstance, created one of the very first "sailing channels." We also realized what an incredible experience we were having and that someday we wanted to do it again, only this time with kids. FAQ: More questions? So it turns out that the island Canouan is following close in Mystique Islands footsteps as becoming extremely exclusive and expensive. The two resorts on the eastern side rates are considered THE most expensive in the entire Caribbean. We never got to see it as we passed on the western side. They also boast an extremely upmarket Marina for these monster motor yachts, makes your toes curl just looking at it. Aaaaah, and then we got to Bequia, highly recommended. We are making a review of our sailing adventure and how it all ended into the Barge project. On this episode we look back on our time in the Caribbean, when we traveled around the fringes. It was a great time, we had a lot of fun and lot of worries too. Sailing is not always in flat seas, you get stuck in rough conditions more often than you would like. But overall, we all enjoy being out there. Even if it is in the middle of the Ocean at night in pitch black skies. Those can be the darkest nights we have ever seen or the ones with more stars than anything. We can't wait to go back! Follow our blog with our daily adventures on Facebook . We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream! Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, two years after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. Now we are enjoying this wonderful life, and what a wonderful life it is! As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. But for these people it's a dream, or may not even be a dream. We will look around and when the opportunity to help comes we will put our hands and hearts in to it.
