What do you think about our new podcast? 💬 Both the IMOCA and VO65 fleets are finally free of the English Channel and into the more open waters of the Bay of Biscay / Celtic Sea / North Atlantic. The mission now is to leave the Bay of Biscay to port and run down the west coasts of Spain and Portugal before turning into the Mediterranean. After a couple of days of very light winds, Sunday morning brings a light to moderate breeze, but it's a south-southwesterly, which is generally the direction of travel, meaning choices will need to be made. Further west there is likely to be more wind, but it comes at a cost of extra miles. This tactical choice over the next 24-48 hours will be one to watch. We are super happy to see our friends 11th Hour Team back at sea, even if it's not in the race. We weren't done with the Monterey Bay quite yet - we left Santa Cruz and sailed 22 nautical miles across to the Bay's namesake city of Monterey where we enjoyed the Monterey Bay.Aquarium, Bike Path, caught up with an old friend and even got close and personal with a fün whale! Our departure was less than stellar though, and the beginning of our very long engine saga. While we were motoring back into Canet-en-Roussillon marina at the end of our week charter on an Excess 11, we were overtaken by Zig Zag, a Windelo 54 under full main and Code 0. It's a 4000 nautical miles long sail we gonna do nonstop before dropping our anchor outside Fatu Hiva if everything goes as planned.
