Elan Yachts joined with a team of sailors with Olympic experience to test the new Elan E6, especially the performance side of the performance cruiser equation. This test focused on upwind performance. The team experienced 30-35 knots of constant Bura wind with gusts up to 40 knots. The maximum recorded speed of the Elan E6 yacht during this testing was 12.5 knots of speed over ground. Elan E6 is a 47 foot performance cruiser from Elan Yachts. Developed in cooperation with Humphreys Yacht Design, Pininfarina and Gurit, it's aimed at being the fastest, stiffest and lightest performance cruiser in segment of fully fitted dual purpose yachts. This Grand Soleil 50, built by Cantiere Del Pardo, has been very well updated and upgraded by her current owner and is equipped with the right gear to sail long distances. She is a real fast performance cruiser and has teak laid decks, a wide teak laid cockpit with contoured benches, a hinged swimming platform and a deep sail locker in the center of the fore deck. The deck layout is well thought out and the visibility forward is outstanding, mainly because of the low deck house. Very well equipped with; a 75hp diesel engine, retractable bow thruster, folding prop, generator, complete B&G navigation pack, new solar panels, water maker, new bimini and sprayhood, new dinghy with outboard, new life raft, etc. Furthermore, sloop rigged with new Lazy Bag and Lazy Jacks, sails from 2018 and electric winches. The interior of this Grand Soleil 50 is airy and light, and offers great comfort. She can accommodate up to 8 persons in her master cabin with ensuite fore, her two guest cabins aft sharing the second head compartment and the convertible saloon. And to make your stay on board even more enjoyable she is fitted out with air conditioning, electric toilets, plenty of storage space, etc. In short: a well-equipped and very well updated sailing yacht that offers liveability and seaworthiness in all comfort.

The Mobile Boat Guys specialize in the restoration of protection of gelcoat finishes. Gelcoat surfaces differ from clear coat (the paint found on cars), in that gelcoat is a lot more forgiving than clear coat because it is a thicker material. There are several ways to remove oxidation from gel-coat surfaces--wetsanding, compounding, polishing and a combination of all of the above. The key to keeping up with your boats appearance is having a proper maintenance schedule where you are waxing once or twice a season. However, how you store your boat when its not in use and the weather conditions your boat is exposed to will also determine how often you need to wax the gel-coat surfaces.
