We wake up and find ourselves off the coast of Africa. We are still being pushed by over 20 knots of wind. We had an amazing encounter in the big waves as we continue to surf our boat towards Cabo Verde, the equator, and South America. #sailing #yacht #dolphins #howtosail More about us at www.sweetruca.com 0:00 Intro and sunrise while sailing off the west coast of Africa 1:00 Curtis gives us an update about the current conditions 2:03 Relaxing sailing with peaceful music and we add bit jib halyard with the winch and show the sail setup of 3rd reef and genoa 4:00 Kate gives us a position update and tells us how her first 24 hours at sea were in the big waves and high winds of the previous episode, Roxy the sailing dog has braced for the waves 4:53 Curtis goes to the bow to do some maintenance work, replacing a jib sheet 6:40 Bluewater sailing in huge waves from a leftover storm while far offshore to fun music 8:24 Kate shows us the chafed through jib sheet and tell 10:37 Walking the dog :-) How Roxy the Dog goes to the bathroom while sailing far offshore in the ocean in large waves, and how the humans stay safe 11:51 We unfurl the Evolution Carbon Membrane cruising genoa for more speed and talk about how to use outside leads, move jib cars, cross sheeting, and adjusting the jib sheets for better sailing performance 14:39 Curtis talks about flying the spinnaker while offshore, our position, speed, and autopilot use and updates us at 48 hours offshore 16:06 We are surrounded by a school of playful dolphins jumping in the waves around our sailboat 18:07 Discussion of autopilot settings, use while sailing in large waves downwind, true wind angles, and weather routing with Expedition sailing software We are running and reaching downwind in big waves and heavy seas left over from the big blow we left Tenerife under. We are on our way to Argentina, Patagonia, and Chile via the trade winds off the coast of Africa. We talk about jib car position and genoa trim for performance cruising, hoping to teach interested viewers how to sail and how to trim a bit better. Dolphins join us at the end of the day for an amazing playful experience. So who is this crazy sailing couple making fun videos to share? Well, we are Kate and Curtis. We both sold up and headed out to sea, with the goal of sailing around the world via Cape Horn and the Cape of Good Hope. We brought our mixed rescue dog along with us as she loves sailing and swimming too! Our boat is a year 2000 J Boats J/46. We searched for 3 years for our perfect sailboat for sale, when we found it, we knew it was the one. We spent 6 months re-fitting it in Rhode Island and then went for our shakedown voyage in Maine. We stopped in Annapolis for a bit to do some more refit work and offshore modifications, then we set off to the open sea. We went to the Bahamas, Miami, US Virgin Islands, BVI, Grenada, Carriacou, St. Maarten, where we enjoyed outdoor adventures, scuba diving, and have now did an Atlantic Crossing to the Azores where we had a chance to fly our DJI drone (and learned how to fly a drone from a boat) and one of our favorite past times, mountain biking. We have sailed over 10,000 bluewater miles to date. We watched other sailing channels before we left as well. We even considered van life, a tiny home, or a motorhome / rv. Some of the channels we enjoyed were Gone with the Wynns, Project Atticus, MJ Sailing. Of course also Delos and La Vagabonde. We didn't really set out to be influencers, but we wanted to return the good karma and pass our inspiration and knowledge along. Enough of this, we hope you enjoy our relaxing video on #sailingsunday! XO XO Kate, Curtis & Roxy

So why go racing now?!?  Good question. They say the fastest way to be a better sailor is to race.   It seems going into things full tilt and blind is sort of our unintentional style.  It’s how we got into sailing in the first place so it really should be no surprise.  We’ve practically made a career out of being underqualified and overly optimistic.  Ya know, winging it. ____ WE’RE JASON AND NIKKI WYNN. A couple of modern-day documentarians, perpetual travelers, and seekers of tall tales. We’ve been chasing our curiosity around the world on wheels and keels since 2011. Why? Because curiosity is the key to unlocking life. It pushes us outside our comfort zone, softens our assumptions, and helps us embrace the great unknown. The more we let our curiosity lead the way, the more we discover about ourselves and the world around us. Our home is also our transportation and we spend weeks away from civilization and sometimes land. Self-reliance and living a sustainable lifestyle are a must. It's all about managing our resources and we’re always looking for new and better ways to do so. We've lived off the grid for over 10 years now in everything from a Van to RV to a Sailboat. And over time we have learned a lot about renewable energy, creating safe drinking water, and managing our waste. As we bounce around the San Blas islands, Panama, Colin decides to give some lessons to the new crew, from anchoring, to flying a spinnaker! We also meet up with Plucky from Sailing into Freedom, where he smokes a huge grouper for the crew! SV Parlay is a hurricane damaged Lagoon 450 catamaran, which Colin rebuilt with friends and has started sailing around the world. They found bulkhead damage on their catamaran in Panama, so have fixed her up, and are almost ready to cross the Pacific Ocean!! *** Personalize a moment in time under the stars!! http://www.underluckystars.com/mjsailing Use code MJSAILING to get 10% off your order!! *** We go about making our first half of our first daggerboard case, but things do not go according to plan. Matt and I are moving on to our first big construction project of our own, and that's our daggerboard cases. These are around 9 feet tall and 2.5 feet wide, and will sit on each side of our hull. Now that the weather is in the mid 50's (F) we have the perfect situation to be able to build them. Because each half required 8 layers of glass and around 130 oz of resin, we want to make sure we're familiar with the process, and do one test round on a miniature. Which turns out great!!! Then on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, we go to do the real thing. And - everything was going great!!!! - until it was time to add the vacuum pump to suck out all the extra air and compress the glass together. That's when things cracked and fell apart on us. During his time away from work, Jamie lived on board and cruised South East Asia. One of his life dreams is to sail around the world. His plans came together at the end of 2018 when he met a Filipina lounge singer in China. Princess was yearning for a vacation since she had been working many years to support her family. Finally, her siblings got their own jobs and she decided to join Jamie on Jupiter² and go sailing. It was a wild decision for her because she had never sailed before. For the first time, they sail for two weeks around Phuket, Thailand. She began to see what Jamie love about the sea. They both resigned from their jobs in early 2019 and began cruising full time. HOW DID I UNCLOG MY BOAT TOILET (Fast and Cheap method)+SECRET to keep it unclogged: Today we discovered that URINE and SEAWATER when in contract create a weird chemical reaction capable of clogging your seawater toilet hose! Not fun of a project but an urgent one since we were unable to use the main cabin Toilet on our boat. Find out how we cleared the Clog and how we will prevent future scale formation caused by the low PH Level of Urine when in contact with sea water! 💘If you like what you see and want to offer us a cup of coffee, we make it very easy !⬇️ https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=APB7AA9VVL6JJ 💻Thirsty for more info ? We are Patricia and Ed. We have been living on a 46 feet Catamaran and exploring the world on the water! We have always loved to travel and explore new places around the world. Our first extended trip was a road trip in the US were we got to see over 20 states and ride 30.000 kilometers on our ECO Friendly Van. It was simply awesome and raised our awareness to the fact that we did not have to be tight down to a land home to continue to work and travel. Now, we’re on a sailing exploration journey attempting to circumnavigate the world aboard JOY. Patricia did not have any previous sailing experience, but was willing to learn on the fly. Now neither of us are too technical and know how to fix things too much, super rich or retired, but we always had big dreams. What motivates us is the possibility to explore and learn along the way, share our experiences here on YouTube, be helped and help others along this Journey. We want to continue to uncover the meaning of Happiness, Joy and Kindness along the way and hopefully bring something to you that will also make you think of alternative possibilities in life. We hope you enjoy been part of this journey along side us ! "Let's Sail Upwind!!" ...said no one EVER!! ..because it's uncomfortable and things tend to always break! We beat into the winds to make our way up to the top of the Caribbean Islands and sail upwind from Bequia to St Vincent to St Lucia to Martinique over 3 days! We manage to explore St Vincent a little and go to Wallilabou Bay where Pirates of the Caribbean was filmed before carrying on with our upwind sailing where we manage to break something on the boat... ♡ Welcome to our Sailing Vlog - Sailing Coco! After 7 years of renovating boats, we restored our Snapdraggon 27, sailed our 33ft Colvic Countess Monohull around the Med and then left London for good once we bought a Lucia 40 Fountaine Pajot Catamaran! We're excited to share our adventures with you and please click the Subscribe Button and Bell if you would like to be notified when we post our latest video! Or comment underneath! With a crew injury on board, our departure for Panama from Martinique with the GLY500 world Odyssey was delayed. We left the day after the fleet of boats, and the wind had died. We sailed for 6 days before arriving in Shelter Bay Marina Panama. WE MAKE OUR VIDEOS PUBLIC TO SHARE OUR ENJOYMENT OF OUR OCEAN WORLD. About 1 in 500 of us have a silent CCM lesion in our brain. CCMs may unexpectedly bleed and may cause stroke or seizure. People with the genetic form of the disease have multiple lesions. Your contribution will help find a cure. Lisa has dedicated her career to finding cures for neurological diseases and would greatly appreciate any level of support from our BioTrek-sailing audience.

We wrap up our time on our catamaran on Cat Island in the Bahamas sailing in the pristine bay on the west side of the island. We then press our luck with the waves and decide to turn around and sail back to where we started when things get rough. We also spend time exploring a mangrove river and hidden blue hole, then wrap things up with a get-together onshore to sample some local food, drinks, and music at a rake and scrape.
