This friendly minke whale joined Silversonic at the Nursery Bommie site at Agincourt Reef. All passengers were thrilled to be able to enter the water as the minke playfully swam between the boat and the bommie. The voluntary approach to the vessel and swimmers by minke whales creates a unique in-water experience, and Silversonic is one of the few vessels with a permit from the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority that enables swimming with these whales. http://www.silverseries.com.au/
Sailing Channel Theater: Episode 2 featured extended excerpts from "In the Wake of the ZACA". Launched in San Francisco on the eve of the great depression, Zaca explored stone-age civilizations in the South Pacific, patrolled the California coast as an armed ship of war during World War II, and served as party boat for sailor and swashbuckling actor, Errol Flynn. Left to languish as a striped hulk on a mudflat in the south of France, Zaca rose like the phoenix to sail again. Sail in her wake and gain a unique perspective on history and experience adventures most of us can only dream about. The Old Man has been sailing Snipes since he was 15 years old in Cuba. The Snipe was already an established class with boats sailing shortly after the plans were originally published in Rudder magazine. Even though he's had many successes in the class, his favorite time was when he crewed for his son Augie and they won the World's together.
